Trivia
- The situation of the detectives gathered in this case may have been inspired by Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, where ten guests are trapped on an island and killed one by one by a member of the group. The trick used by the murderer to avoid being suspected is the same in both stories.
- What is more, several characters remind of Christie's most famous detectives. Furuyo Senma is similar to Miss Marple for her age, her habit of evokating anecdotes of her town, and her ability to untangle mysteries only by hearing the story of the events and staying in her living room. Shukuzen Ogami brings Hercule Poirot to mind because of his compulsion of stroking his moustache and his passion for great cooking.
- Besides, Hakuba shares things in common with Sherlock Holmes: he lives in England, has called his hawk Watson (he also appears dressed as Holmes in Magic Kaito). As for Harufumi Mogi, he may represent Dashiell Hammett's detective, Sam Spade, for their appearances and personalities are similar.
