While playing hide and seek, Ayumi goes into the trunk of a car, which speeds off before the game is over. In there, she discovers the head of a dead girl!

  • Inside the trunk were paper bags with lots of money inside
  • Ayumi found a saw covered in a slippery fluid
  • Ayumi discovered a girl's head wrapped in newspaper
  • The suspects were heard talking about ransom money and killing the girl who saw their faces

• Conclusion

Turns out, the kidnappers were stage actors for a mystery play, and the head was a fake. Since Conan ruined the head and knocked out the other actor, the Detective Boys took part in the play so the show could go on. The three boys played the man in a brown coat: Genta, saying the lines, was at the bottom, Mitsuhiko in the middle and on Genta's shoulders, and Conan on top of them, with a hat, a mustache, and sunglasses. Ayumi played the dead girl covered in fake blood and hid inside a bag. And during the play, while acting with a dead face, she thought, "I am never playing hide and seek again!"

Manga to anime changes

• While searching for Ayumi, the boys notice Inspector Megure in a patrol car. After they find Ayumi, they see Inspector Megure pass by in the patrol car again, this time with a criminal. Both of these moments are anime-only.

Remastered version

On June 27, 2009, a remastered version of the case was aired.
