Ainaji Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 I luv it .My fav part were the ones of Ai with the Detective Boys and the one with Kogoro and Eri ^^And i liked a lot the akai vs akai part
Vi Graythorn Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 i like it bu tit would be better if they have more secondary character shots
Akazora Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 This opening is fantastic, . Miles ahead of Don't Wanna Lie. If it weren't for the insulting lack of Haibara (6 seconds with the Detective Boys doesn't cut it), it would be one of my favourites. The Haibara scene, in my opinion, wasn't really insulting. It's more symbolic than anything, and it's apparent if you watch it a few times. Haibara sitting alone at first with the mirrors represents her being alone with no one else, and it's striking especially since it's right after the Shinichi and Ran scene, the Kogoro and Eri scene, the Heiji and Kazuha scene, the police officers scene, and the Detective Boys scene, where all of them are portrayed in pairs or in groups. But, a few moments after she first appears, the mirrors vanish and are replaced with the Detective Boys which then make her smile. This represents the fact that the three actual kids in this series, innocent as they are, attempt to make another individual happy in the only way they can: being kind. Even though they don't understand the full situation, they at least try, and it's that act of kindness that makes sure Haibara is never alone with those mirrors again. That's just the way I read it. I'm sure other people may think differently. 1
Vi Graythorn Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 i love the ai and akai part the best the leaf falling on the hard was alittle 2 real compare 2 the rest
Kyuu Nye Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Better sequence, and the song is still "meh" in my opinion. Though I admit it is growing on me. Still think its a bit generic. Though I'll fully admit that the Akai part was win. (Btw, I'll mention though I feel the song is "meh" that doesn't mean that I don't like it, I just feel like it could be a lot better. And this song is far from being my least favorite OP, though it is also not one of my absolute favorites either.)
Akechi Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 The Haibara scene, in my opinion, wasn't really insulting. It's more symbolic than anything, and it's apparent if you watch it a few times. I'm sure other people may think differently. Now, I completely agree with that. I love the whole symbolism of Haibara being lonely but finding friends in the Detective Boys. It highlights what is probably the only real character development in the series. That's not what I was complaining about at all. All I was saying is that there wasn't enough of her, . I mean, even characters like Eri and the FBI, who are occasional guest characters at best, had a more significant role in the opening. Just one small scene makes her look like a minor character on the verge of being phased out of the series completely. Now, it's not as if I expect every opening to be as Haibara-centric as Revive (even if that would be awesome), but six seconds shared with other characters who already had their share of the opening is too little for me. Wow, I feel like a Haibara fanboy now, xD.
Wakarimashita Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Eri was with Kogoro who's a more important character than Haibara. Taking out the introduction and the sponsors at the end, an opening lasts around 1 minute and 20-25 seconds. Once you take out all the time dedicated to the protagonists (which makes sense, they're the main characters after all), there's not that much time left for all the others. If you look at it that way, 6 seconds is fine.

If you look at it that way, 6 seconds is fine. Actually, looking over it, you're probably right, but Haibara is probably between Kogoro and the Detective Boys in significance because of her extreme plot relevance. I'd say that she's much more of a protagonist than Heiji and Kazuha, who have about the same time. And really, she should get more than ~5% of the opening if the Detective Boys are getting like ~10%. That said, I just realized that Kogoro has suffered far more than Haibara. All of 2 or 3 seconds, and even that shared with his rarely appearing wife, despite being the third most important character, is harsh. I guess I am overreacting, though, since the past few openings have actually given Haibara even less time (with Tear Drops giving her none at all). It just seemed to me like she's being excluded because of her appearance after all the groups, I suppose.
CoolKid94 Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Personally, I completely enjoy this new opening sequence. The Akai vs. Scar Akai, the appearance of almost everyone significant, and the catchy music. Although, I think it's safe to say that a certain new manga character won't make their transition to the anime during the course of this opening, though I could be wrong. I'm just basing this off of the fact that Haibara, Chianti, Korn, and Kir all made their debuts in the openings before the episode they debuted in aired. The character in question (no names b/c I don't want to spoil anything for anime only fans) does not appear, so this opening will completely pass before they even consider introducing the new character.
