  1. It is totally possible. She did it because she realized it was the only way to see her boyfriend Shinichi.
  2. I was indeed. And unfortunately forensics is able to determine if it was head trauma or not that caused death. And if the head trauma was not enough to kill (which it wasn't) a murder investigation would be opened, regardless of the facts. Unexplained deaths of people in places they aren't supposed to or expected to be are usually treated as such. And as I said... this being Shinichi, the police would treat it as such regardless, and even IF they didn't (which they probably would) Yuusaku would have taken up the investigation...(Come to think of it, that would have made for an awesome series... Yuusaku vs BO... Why does that seem more appealing than what we have now?)
  3. I blame you and CC... Also science destroying my brain... (I watched a few eps of MPL:FiM and was surprisingly entertained) IT IS YOUR FAULT!

  4. That's funny because anime is the Japanese shortening of the French word for animation that refers to all animation. We are borrowing a borrowed word. So I say screw it. let's pluralize it, it's the American way.Besides due to what I said anime it's by definition now an American English word as we changed the definition to refer only to Japanese animation. I'm sure the same can be said of manga. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  5. You know... a quick google search would haven given you several places to watch on-line. I'm starting to think people are afraid of using search functions... People don't use them on the internet, nor do they use them for forums... Here is an example: http://tinyurl.com/3orklc4 (it is nothing bad, just the automated search you should have done before you posted a topic that has been posted a dozen times before) Or done a forum search for that... If you look up, there is a search box that comes in quite handy for times like these.
  6. @Chek: I only have one problem about your speculation about the first use of APTX on Shinichi. Assuming that the APTX was successful in killing Kudo, it would still be treated as a murder. Even if the blow to the head from the pipe did not kill him, it would be assumed that foul play was used. APTX is not the only undetectable toxin in the world. There are several which are undetectable in the blood stream. Granted, if there was no other evidence it would naturally become a cold case, but it would still be an open murder investigation that the MPD would take *very* seriously considering who the murder victim would have been. The mere fact that Gin struck him in the head with a pipe ruined the chances of it being seen as a mere heart attack, because at that point it is seen as a violent crime. Even IF the conclusion was that the blow to the head caused a shock that resulted in a lethal heart attack. Remember, his face was face down and the wound was on the back of the head... nothing around that he could have hit the back of his head on... As for there being a centralized location for the BO... I doubt it. My theory is that they have cover stories and control corporations and labs, so it is a decentralized organization, much like many organized crime syndicates are. It does a few things in that case, the first is creates back-ups in case one cover is taken down, there are others that won't be. Also it prevents large scale busts. It also protects the boss, because if the covers are self sufficient he/she doesn't need to be as involved and thus cannot be fully implicated in anything unless they can make solid connections. Assuming the BO is smart, their phones are encrypted or are all using burn phones, which are untraceable, so the boss cannot be implicated in that. And I have made the argument before that within the labs for making toxins, they have their in-house documents and their public documents. Their public documents show a different story and a different focus on research, while the in-house is their real documentation that can be destroyed in case it is compromised (like the computer files on that floppy that were destroyed by Night Baron). I am fairly certain that this is the case. They could have a base of operations in an abandoned warehouse on the pier, but I think it is more likely that they have control of an active warehouse or shipping company that they use for their own means that looks completely normal on paper (assuming that they actually have a base of operations there). What I am more curious about is if they have agents infiltrated into the police, military and government (I'm pretty sure they have infiltrated the Government). That would be especially helpful for the training of their snipers. Both the police and military train snipers for certain situations and looks completely normal.
  7. Ah I see. Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding. I'm not all too knowledgeable on Indian films (not many at least). And no problem :) Always glad to help

  8. She did admit to holding Gosho captive.
  9. I was shown this image... And I have to say... It is awesome... Oh how the pony community makes me feel that way. -Takes another swig of Jack-
  10. Well it was more wondering why you brought it up out of nowhere... And Snopes is now and forever will be <3

  11. You know... I almost didn't know what you talking about until I remembered I linked to it in commenting Samantha's status... In any case... Snopes is <3

  12. No offense, but on here, Chek would be the better fit for Sera. With the exception of the whole JKD thing Chek is Sera if we go by deductive ability. Also... OT... I'm getting tired of people confusing JKD as a complete martial art rather than a philosophical system to build a martial art on. Bruce Lee never cemented it as a martial art. And even now it is merely a mish-mosh of Wing Chun, American boxing and some kicking arts... That is passed off as a martial art using Bruce Lee's name for leverage. Technically the MMA styles are a closer idealization to JKD than actual JKD is.
  13. My problem with Ran, is the same problem I have with the majority of the cast of DC... They are cookie-cutout characters that we have seen a million times before. Now that wouldn't be bad if they developed some and improved changed and were dynamic, but they aren't. They are the same characters that were there in the first episode/file. The only characters that seem to be dynamic at all are the side characters. Now I don't mean side characters that barely show up (I would love to see Gosho give them some love and development) I mean the regularly occurring characters. Megure is the only one I sort of understand, and even he had some light shown on his past development, he is just locked into his current state and nothing has happened to him to change him in any way. Going through the characters... Ran has won competitions, lost her BF and almost never sees or hears from him, seen countless bodies, thought to have seen and been proven wrong about ghosts, nearly been killed SEVERAL times... THESE ARE ALL LIFE CHANGING EVENTS! And not one has affected her in the slightest. She is the same person she was all the way back in the beginning. Shinichi was also nearly killed SEVERAL times (and was even shot due to his OWN carelessness), was shrunk in one of those aforementioned close calls, seen his GF in ways he probably never imagined he would see her, had to break the law in quite creative ways in order to maintain his ability to be a detective, and has had life experiences that most people can only dream of being the son of a wealthy author and actress. Sonoko is the same as Ran without the superstition and karate (though her BF seems to communicate more). You know I could go on, but I'll stop there... I mean really... I don't hate them because of any character affiliation I have, but because they have NEVER CHANGED! That is NOT good character writing. Gosho seems really adept at writing mysteries, but can't write characters to save his life. Characters that don't develop and are not dynamic get really boring REALLY fast. I started hating the main cast of DC pretty quickly (within 100 episodes, because I have seen series that were 1/10th of that that developed characters AMAZINGLY and there is no excuse for no development within 100 eps let alone over 600). But yeah... that is why I hate them. And is why I have nearly dropped this series a dozen times. If it wasn't for the mysteries and the great community, I'd have dropped it long ago. And for the record, my enjoyment of Ai, and my supporting of ShinShi have nothing to do with my hatred of Ran or the rest of the main cast. I personally find it sad that characters we don't see or are exposed to as often (Satou, Takagi, Shiratori, Kobayashi, Ai, and even Mitsu) have developed their characters further than the titular and main characters have in a fraction of the time. It is really inexcusable and Gosho needs to correct this. Hell, doing so might even improve the love story that ShinRan's seem to love so much, because development like that would lead to CONFLICT more than the usual "OMG CONAN IS SHINICHI" case that could in theory BRING THEM CLOSER if done right. Gosho sort of did that in London, but that took him 600 episodes and over 700 files to do! And he quickly switched focus and DIDN'T COMPLETE THE EMOTIONAL ARC OF THE TWO CHARACTERS! It is almost like it NEVER HAPPENED! Development of characters and non-mystery related stories is one of the MAJOR pitfalls of DC. If Gosho started dropping the unnecessary and focused only on the mystery like SACD did, I'd have no problems because then character development would not be as paramount. Seeing as he won't do that, it annoys me and gives me reason to hate his characters. </rant> Apologies for the jumping around with thought process too.... Edit: I should note, that is why it took so long to actually post here... I couldn't very well type that on my phone. Also, I hope I satisfied the requirements needed to dislike or hate a character so that my post doesn't get taken apart by pro-Ran (or any other character I mentioned in there or anti-[insert character I spoke more highly of here]) Because I really feel legitimate in my dislike/hate of these characters. *Looks at AJ* Seriously... I could go on with superficial reasons on why not to like her like others have done, but all that is pointless because what I ranted about here is really the main reason why I dislike her.
  14. I must say, I laughed when I saw that I was Shinichi and AJ was Heiji.
  15. So.... basically... If I make it through the first half of the movie, I might actually kinda enjoy this movie? At least half of it... Well its better than 7 through 14... minus 12... The more I watch those the more I don't like them.

    Morality

Not going to say anything about #2 except that it was predicted in the 80s by a comedy show that he was going to die this year... some how... Hell they even got pretty close to the exact date being only 3 months off... As for #1, that isn't a case of morality, but a case of crowd mentality. It is the "Oh, someone else will do something" train of thought. The people that saw her aren't inherently bad people but they figured that someone else would have done something. It is unfortunately very common.
  17. Hadaa from DCTP made a very impressive name pun analysis that I feel compelled to share here. Very impressive if I do say so myself. This brings issue to the importance of Amuro Ray. I personally think Gosho is throwing an important character in to a situation where he wouldn't be suspected of being important in order to do a reveal in the BO confrontation that is likely coming up soon.
  18. Capture of a planet forming? Very nice http://news.yahoo.com/hawaii-astronomer-captures-image-forming-planet-230958310.html
  19. What about Chiba's first love? And I agree about Satou and Takagi. I don't think that ShinShis/Aicons hate ShinRans as much as ShinRans think. So their hatred is really unwarranted.
  20. What do you mean "those two"?

You mean HAL 9000? And that is indeed a great book. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  22. The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few. The idealism that Shinichi and Ran have can easily backfire and end far more lives than they possibly could have saved by allowing the one dangerous criminal to be killed on the spot. Idealism doesn't work in the real world, it never has. Idealism tends to get people killed. That isn't to say that one should be heartless, but if the situation calls for a swift resolution that could potentially kill more than you would save by preventing the police doing their jobs and stopping the criminal by any means necessary, you are doing something wrong. For instance... Shinichi deducing, the person has ALREADY KILLED, which means if they snap they could easily attack and kill another. Even Sherlock knew that at times killing was necessary, and sorry, but relying on Karate or a soccer ball is not enough. Ran can lose, especially if it is someone desperate and strong. And Shinichi can easily miss that ONE shot he has with his soccer ball. Idealism is great, but not when its blind. You don't mess with a desperate person, and you cannot deduce what they might do no matter how smart you are.

Well... considering that its reading from a list of some 20 million conversations, it is no surprise that it would know Helita. Basically cleverbot is basing its responses off of an algorithm that searches for a proper response from its databases of past conversations. You know what its like? A less awesome version of the conversation held in the Doctor Who episode "Blink," because cleverbot can and does fail in its canned responses, where as Blink the responses are perfect because the Doctor had everything from the future.
  24. You know... For some reason I thought it was an electronic bubble, reading back... You are correct. That is very possible. So she could have been knocked out. So the detonator would have either had to be a timer or connected to the cellphone. In which case I still say the satnav connection is possible because he has to make it seem like it wasn't him. If the cellphone is the remote detonator then the girl's cell had to be connected to the detonator, but if they connected it to the satnav system, theoretically it could bypass that while still using the girl's cell number as the detonator. So that if his phone is checked it wouldn't be suspicious. Timed would be difficult though... He would have had to time it perfectly, and unless he can fake being drunk really well, I would think remote detonation would be easier.
