I think there are two consonant families that use the handakuten... if I remember correctly from "My Japanese Coach" also... the ones that use dakuten or handakuten are the same in hiragana and katakana

in many cases, the thesaurus can be one of your best friends (especially if you find yourself using certain words repeatedly) but... always be wise with your word choice. even if you're concerned about a phrase being overly simplified or repetitive, think about the idea you're trying to convey - you may find that your first instinct really does sound better than the version that came out of the thesaurus

that's the name they gave her in the anime... there's another K-name in the manga... I don't remember what it is, and all my manga is still in boxes, but I'll be able to find it next week

that's not as shocking as you might think... I've been watching Bakuman, and apparently the pre-manuscript outline is called a "name"... so it probably means this, and not actual character names

I prefer to call it "Goshiku" since that's what the kana says (and the word Gosick makes me think "go sick"... leading me to feel better calling it Gothic, since that's the common pronunciation of those kana) Anyway, I love this series. I think Victorique is absolutely adorable, even in all her boredom and precociousness. And... I think she's more like Mycroft than Shinichi (or Sherlock). The back story between her and the detective surprised me, and I'm a big fan of the dynamic going on between her and Kujo.

Hiromu Arakawa has something new coming out soon, but I don't remember any of the details

I watched the Ouran one and the DRRR one, and I thought both were interesting although on the DRRR one, I'm not sure I would have chosen that set of characters, since it included some that only show up a few times and left out a bunch of regulars

not only that, but Yuusaku has tricked Shinichi on a few occasions

also, in English Genta became George, and Ayumi became Amy... and Kazuha had a couple different names, similar to Haibara of course, the names you listed aren't the only ones that got mangled, either

certainly not an exhaustive list (where's Takagi, etc?), but given the choices I'd choose Heiji

...apparently I'm chopped liver, but that's fine... if the others don't like it, they can always delete it

it should be a table with countries across the top and subjects down the side (series title, character names, etc) I think this is a great idea!
