  1. I wasn't gonna make a new thread about it but I believe it's the best way to spread awareness among members and visitors. So, if you click on "Chat" at the top, you will now have access to the web-based version of our IRC channel! Link: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/chat For a quick tutorial about how to install an IRC client instead (such as mIRC or IceChat), check out this thread: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/forum/topic/959-detective-conan-world-irc-channel/ To register your nickname in the channel, simply use the following commands: I. If you would like to change your nickname first, do: /nick YourNewNickname II. To register your current nickname, do: /msg NickServ register password email Where "password" is the password you would like to use to login and "email" is your email address. You will be receiving an email shortly after to confirm your registration. Then, the next time you go into the channel again, simply choose your nickname and identify yourself by doing: /msg NickServ identify password Where "password" is the password you used to register. That's about it. Have fun!
  2. Congratulations Chekhov and welcome to the team! It's a real pleasure to work with you (you really have been doing a treamendous job on the wiki and your knowledge about DC is astonishing!). So thanks again and keep up the good work!
  3. First of all, Guten Tag and welcome to DCW! It didn't really fall through. Both websites agreed to "collaborate". All, we need to do is start adding a language component to the site. For example, something like [[de:Conan Edogawa]] at the bottom of the "Conan Edogawa" page. But it's true that language support hasn't yet been added to the wiki (thus, it won't quite work right now). It's on my todo list though.
  4. Right, I should have been more precise. Don't put the < > symbols. In your case Kaoko, it would be: /msg NickServ register ********* gkoko@gmail.com
  5. Nope, nobody can see it. At the top of the frame, you should see a "Status" tab. That's where you should look when you do those commands. Don't forget to add a slash "/" before the line, such as: /msg NickServ etc.... This way, nobody will see those commands.
  6. When you first join the channel, you're asked for a nickname right? That's what I meant. Simply join the channel as "OfficerKaoko" (for example) and that's it. You can then run the commands I posted above. If you're already in the channel and want to change your nickname to something else, use: /nick SomeOtherName Let me know if you have any problem.
  7. There's a system in place to register your nickname. This way, if someone else uses it, after a few seconds or so, they will get renamed to something random. To register your username, just type the following command (while already having your desired nickname): /msg NickServ register your_password your_email Then you will receive an email to confirm your registration. Follow the instructions and you're good to go. The next time you go into the IRC channel, you simply need to login. If I recall correctly, it's something like: /msg NickServ identify your_password
  8. It's not snowing but there's quite some snow already. It's not too bad. :)

  9. Link for the lazy ones: http://qchat.rizon.net/?channels=detectiveconan&uio=d4
  10. The verdict was given. I hope it won't happen again. I'm glad you decided to stick around! You actually have a good reputation here (15 points as of this writing). :P

That means you have a positive place in this community which is great. So, I hope you keep having fun and helping our nice DC-flavored community flourish. :)

  11. I think Rizon remains one of the better IRC servers out there. Efnet does not provide nickname registration, freenode is more oriented towards "projects collaboration" and DALnet does not provide a web-based client. I also just gave it a try and the channel #detectiveconan is available on Rizon. I already registered my nickname (Maurice). Moreover, it does provide a customizable web-based client so I'll be sure to integrate it to the site in the near future.
  12. Alright, here's an official statement regarding the incident that occured on Sunday. We normally wouldn't make such a statement, that describes the situation, who's involved and what actions we took but since the story seems to have had some (small) impact within the community, we found it best to talk about it here for public awareness (and return to "normalness"). Regarding the facts, I'll go straight to the point. Let's just say that Detective Gin misused the forum's title feature by changing his title to "Vice President of DCW" then used it to brag to many other forumers about powers and privileges he had on those forums. CarpetCrawler intervened and challenged him then eventually asked him to remove his title. There's also been some altercations between DG and some other user. But in the end, since these weren't terribly offensive incidents (for example, he didn't use that title to cheat other users into revealing sensitive information), we've decided to settle the case with some warning increase under the charges: "impersonation and improper conduct towards another member". That's it. Case Closed! (somehow interesting to be able to place those two words into the perfect context, isn't it? ) Anyway, I have nothing more to say about this case. Things happen. We solve them then move on. It's already in the past now. So, let's now go back to enjoying the world of DC, shall we?
  13. Salut Kazu! I believe I've come across your site a while back. Very informative with tons of nice articles. When did you create it btw? (there's so much information in it) If you have any questions or anything, don't hesitate to ask (in English or French ). P.S: How's living in Japan btw? And Osaka must be a pretty nice city, isn't it? (at least from what I recall in episodes featuring Heiji and Kazuha there haha).
  14. Good point Kazu. I believe I got it from some website and I should really have given the source (like I normally do -- it's odd I forgot about this one). But like you said, it might not have been a reliable source cause there doesn't seem to be a source right now that points to those facts. I believe it's best to remove those info details for now. P.S: Ton anglais est vraiment bon! Et ça fait plaisir de voir d'autres francophones dans le coin.
  15. That's very nice of you btw to help people out with their writing. Hopefully, it'll make them wanna write more! :D

And I'm doing good! I'm a bit tired lately though. And it's really cold here right now! :o

    Where do you live btw?

  16. Sure. Just use the tags and add your citation in between them. Then make sure at the end of the page that you add:

    == References ==

I suggest you edit another page that has references already and use that as an example. :)

  17. Yeah, sorry for the delay. The discussion is ongoing right now (looks like both CC and me are busy today). Hopefully, we'll have everything settled soon.

  18. Happy belated birthday! :D

And belated welcome to DCW! :3

I hope you're enjoying yourself here!

  19. Just letting you know that I'm reviewing your statement. Thanks for replying btw. :)

  20. Haha, thanks for the support! <3

Your About Me is already better now. :)

  21. What happened to your About Me? :/

  22. Haha, that would explain why she has such an awesome reputation here! :D

How are you btw? Still enjoying writing (and reading) fanfics? :)

  23. Basically each of your posts has a "+" button on the bottom right corner which other members can click on. This shows that they like, support, appreciate or approve what you posted. Doing so will boost up your reputation points. To sum up, the more your posts are valuable or helpful, the more reputation points you get. Seems like you now have a pretty good reputation here. Congrats! :)

  24. I learned about the situation a couple hours ago and there's currently a discussion going on about this. I'm waiting for Detective Gin's side of the story before saying anything. But I wouldn't say it is a major issue or anything. The situation only concerns one member, and it is NOT a war between many members like people seem to imply. There's absolutely no need to overreact. So, please, everyone just relax and stay calm until everything gets settled. Thank you!
  25. Uh, what happened exactly? o_o
