Story
A middle-school thirteen-year-old Kudo plays football on the football wall in Beika Park, displaying maginificent skills in front of three football fans, merely children, who thinks he plays like Hide, a footballer in Detective Conan. Kudo then encounters a man, who queries Shinichi on whether he knew about the whereabouts of the man at 10:00AM on Thursday. Kudo says he did not, and loiters around the park in wait for the man.
Shocked at Kudo's long wait, the man, Akimoto, soon wonders why Kudo waited. Kudo then says he is an amateur detective, but better than Ran's father. It was not until Shinichi found that the two men watching and trailing Akimoto closely were policemen did Akimoto place trust in him for help. It is soon revealed that Akimoto had fallen under suspicion as the murderer of his beloved grandmother, whom a person had killed on Thursday morning at 10:00AM. The reason of why he was at Beika Park was soon deduced by Shinichi - Akimoto wanted to find witnesses who could prove that he was drunk and sleeping on the grass patch on Thursday, having cancelled a visit trip to his grandmother's. Shinichi asked him to remember if he heard any sounds or saw anyone, and Akimoto recalls that he heard a bark and saw a woman walking with something black, which Akimoto believed it to be a black dog. Shinichi reasons that if a woman had walked a dog that day, it's very likely that at 10:00AM everyday the woman will be there. He promises Akimoto a meeting at Beika Park the next day, planning to escape class and return at the third period.
On his way back from school, Shinichi discusses with Ran about this case of alibi searching. Ran then tells Kudo about a woman who walks her dog every day at Beika Park. Excited, Kudo asks which route the woman takes, and Ran says it is usually behind the football and tennis walls, which Shinichi listens in disappointment. He then tells Ran about how Akimoto could see the dog, and Ran suggests that Akimoto is clairvoyant. Shinichi then tells Ran nobody in the world has these type of abilities, as if anyone would have, crime cannot be stopped and police and detectives will be out of jobs. Ran insists that there are mysteries Shinichi can't solve, and neither can anyone, but Shinichi says he can. Thus, an argument ensued between Ran and Shinichi.
Shinichi soon finds the woman with a black dog. He asks whether the dog was Robin, and the woman confirmed its name. Then, Shinichi asks whether they use the route in the park in front of the sports walls on Thursday morning, but the woman is insistent that they didn't, as Robin is fussy about the routes. Shinichi returns home, disappointed and pondering over how Akimoto could see the dog.

<spoiler> Shinichi finds Genta, Ayumi and Mitsuhiko on a routine walk with their preschool teachers an classmates. Asked whether she had seen Akimoto, the teacher replies no. However, Genta and co said they did in the midst of catching a butterfly they named Mr.Butterfly. Akimoto is delighted with that, but soon becomes sad again when the police cannot only accept three-year-olds' statements.
At home, as Shinichi ponders over why and how Akimoto saw a dog, Yusaku Kudo offers to help, but Shinichi refused, saying he doesn't want his father to help him again. Feeling that Shinichi really required help, Yusaku asks Shinichi to play the violin. Shinichi takes it and puts it back in the case, saying Holmes never used the violin to think and ponder, but just to pass time. Carrying the violin case, Shinichi finds that it looked exactly like a black dog if a person were to see only the top half of the case.
Meeting with Akimoto and the two policemen at Beika Park again the next day, Shinichi asks Akimoto and the policeman with a bigger build to lie down on the grass and close their eyes. Then a lady holding a guitar cases walks by, and when the two get up, they mistake the case for a dog. Shinichi explains that in his drunken manner, Akimito mistook the case for a dog because he heard a bark, and the policeman mistook the case for a dog because he expected to see a dog. The lady then says she did cut through the park to her guitar lessons at 10:00AM on Thursday, and she did see Akimoto. Akimoto is delighted. Not long later, the policemen receive a call and found that the killer is a home robber. They then rush off to HQ.
At the end of the show, Akimoto tells Shinichi, "Kudo-kun... You're gonna be a great detective." </ spoiler>
