Situation

In the interrogation room, Takahiro Matoi tells the police that he could not recall a thing after he had drinks with the victim, Shiori Jojima, and two other colleagues.

Murder

Location: Roadway in Beika

Time: 7 PM on the previous night

Suspects: Takahiro Matoi, Shigeki Natsuhara and Shohei Yumura

They were drinking with the victim before she was found dead, so they became the main suspects

Meanwhile, Conan and Haibara just arrive as they are asked by the Detective Boys to help find a cat for an old lady. While they are looking for it, they see Takagi and Chiba doing some kind of investigation. It turns out that the two are looking for a person that wore construction site uniform at the time where Matoi was drunk to confirm the alibi for Matoi. The boys are also curious about what happened to Matoi, so they ask Takagi and Chiba, to which they tell that Matoi was drunk somewhere around the location they are, and he saw someone on the other side of a wall that is opposite to where he was sitting. However, the person is revealed to be Genta and Mitsuhiko as they were looking for the cat up in the wall for some reason.

But a case couldn’t end when the culprit is not yet revealed, so the kids split up into two groups to investigate: Conan goes with Ayumi and Matoi to the building where the murder occurred while Haibara goes with Genta and Mitsuhiko. After a preliminary site inspection at the room, Conan and Matoi come outside and see Ayumi talking to Madoka Jojima, Shiori’s sister who hates Matoi due to his unkempt lifestyle, and is suspecting him for murdering her sister.

After that, the group goes to see the company Shiori worked for, where Megure and another policeman are interrogating the other two suspects of the murder as they were drinking with Matoi and the victim, Shohei Yumura and Shigeki Natsuhara. There, Conan and Ayumi happen to know that someone in that company embezzled the money and the two police assume that Shiori learned about who caused this and was silenced for that, the suspicion is further improved as Haibara’s group also learns about that embezzlement. However, Haibara’s group couldn’t find anyone else in the convenience store where Matoi was in noticing his existence and raises doubt on him. But the doubt seems to suggest Conan something else about the truth of the murder as he suddenly causes the attention of Megure and the others.

Shiori Jojima discovered that Shohei Yumura was the one to embezzle public funds and blackmailed him. Surprised by the victim's true nature, Yumura decided to follow and kill her, and put all the blame on Takahiro Matoi. Matoi sympathized with the culprit when he discovered the victim's true nature, but did not agree with his actions because taking someone's life for such personal reasons was unacceptable.

At dusk, Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys are sad because they still haven't found the cat, when suddenly it shows up under the chair that Ayumi and Conan are sitting on, making the Detective Boys very happy, but let’s not tell the kids that the cat actually went back to the house of the old lady that asked them to find it.
