The true culprit is Aoi Inukai. She rented a room next to Kohei Miki's and hypnotized him with a planetarium projector to vandalize Kaneko's Jewelry Store in the hopes he robs it. However, Miki was caught by Kogoro by chance, so she ended up having to sneak in the Jewelry Store on her own, only to be caught by Takagi, Chiba and the Detective Boys when she was surprised with her own projector. Conan thanked Ayumi as the diary helped solving the case again, so they changed the name of the film they made. In the post scene, they completed the film and everyone said it was professional, but the detective boys were scolded for doing dangerous things again.

Trivia

• In a recreation of the events, Mitsuhiko, Ayumi, Conan, Genta and Haibara are wearing clothes corresponding respectively to Wataru Takagi, Miwako Sato, Kogoro Mouri, Juzo Megure and Yumi Miyamoto.
• Café Haronbo and grocery store Ogino from the first The Case of Ayumi's Illustrated Diary reappear, as well as Keita Kaneko's jewelry store, but without their owners.
