They had supposedly been recommended to be special guests of the event by Megure, but when Conan calls Megure himself to confirm (using Kogoro's voice), Megure denies any knowledge of this. Megure adds that, recently, a series of mysterious jewel robberies have occurred in the metropolitan area.
