The fun of a baseball game is interrupted when bad news comes down from the school chairman. A slashing has taken place and the victim has been cut multiple times. But the victim is not a person, it's the baseball team's cherished championship flag. Scandal rocks Shukou High as Conan investigates and finds that it was an inside job.

The one who torn the flag with the cutter knife is the principal because the chairman wanted the team to withdraw from the tournament. Kenya only admitted to doing it to protect his mother who he thought did it. Mie had went up to the chairman's office to speak to him about withdrawing Kenya from the tournament not knowing that he wanted the whole team to dropout of the tournament. Then caretaker informs everyone that the chairman died in the hospital. The principal explains why he did it because the chairman didn't like sports and was afraid to do what was right and worried about the school's appearance. A month later, Kenya led the team back to the tournament where they would end up clinching the school's 2nd title and a brand new championship flag.
