Plot

The three men try to refute the suspicions of Rei Furuya, Wataru Date, Hiromitsu Morofushi and Matsuda with very dubious excuses, but Matsuda is finally able to find a key to a secret door in a drawer with a false bottom and open it. Behind it is a cannabis plantation, which is the reason for the high electricity bill. The cultivation and trade of cannabis is prohibited in Japan and is punished very severely, sometimes with up to ten years in prison. The scrap of paper that Shinichi found already put the police cadets on the trail: "Yamamomo" was not the Japanese word for bayberry, the characters 山モモワ were supposed to represent the Latin letters "WEED", a colloquial term for marijuana. The meaning was not immediately apparent by using Japanese characters.

The drug dealers now want to reach for their firearms, but Morofushi has already taken the bag. One of the gangsters charges at him with his fist raised; Morofushi gets into a fighting position, but Furuya intervenes and takes out the criminal, much to his friend's frustration. The other two gangsters run out of the villa; one of them runs to the Ferrari, but the police cadets have already slashed the tires, which is why Date is able to arrest the gangster. The third drug dealer has instead grabbed a hidden motorcycle and drives away. Kenji Hagiwara gives chase in the Mazda RX-7 and is finally able to catch up with and take out the gangster with a few daring driving maneuvers, including skiing in a narrow alleyway. In the end, Hagiwara drives ahead of the gangster and breaks suddenly in front of him, making the gangster crash against the car and get propelled into a construction tarp, knocking him out. Hagiwara confirms to Matsuda that the target has been neutralized and realizes that he forgot to drop off young Ran before the car chase. He checks on her and she is excited to have gone through the chase with Hagiwara. Meanwhile, the other two drug dealers are taken away, with the furious Hachizo Onizuka giving Furuya and Morofushi a good telling off. Shinichi is astonished to discover that Furuya and his friends are really police cadets. Furuya says that if Shinichi is still a detective later in life, they might see each other again at a crime scene.

In the present, Furuya has arrived at the Mori Detective Agency in his role as Toru Amuro and helps turn off the water in the sink. Amuro's look suddenly reminds Conan of the case from back then and he wonders if Amuro was one of the police cadets from back then. Amuro discovers the package of coffee on Kogoro's desk with the inscription "Terochichimomo"; Conan immediately recognizes that the Japanese characters "てロチチモモ" are supposed to represent the Latin letters "COFFEE". Ran says that she recognized that too because she had seen something like that as a child. Conan suspects that Ran is talking about "山モモワ = WEED" because, like COFFEE, it has two E's. Ran agrees, but asks Conan how he knows that and suspects that Shinichi has once again told Conan things that are inappropriate for Conan's age. Meanwhile, Amuro starts to think: he had already noticed that the boy from back then and Conan look very similar. If the boy from back then really is Conan, then that would mean that Conan is actually Shinichi Kudo, thinks Amuro.

Sherry's Soliloquy

Sherry's soliloquy for File 1136.

Sherry's Soliloquy (シェリーのひとりごと Sherī no Hitorigoto?) is a collection of comments Gosho Aoyama has Ai Haibara say on the official Detective Conan website, Conan News Agency (こなん通信社 Konan Tsūshin-sha) in the course of every new chapter's publication.

Soliloquy of File 1136:
もう、工藤君迂闊すぎ・・・
Kudo-kun, you were sooo careless...
