Awkward Couple (ハズいカップル Hazui Kappuru) is chapter 0 of the manga of Detective Conan. It was written by Gosho Aoyama, drawn by him and his assistants and first released in Special Edition of Volume 1 on October 18, 2024. It is a prologue chapter for chapter 1.

Plot
The chapter starts with a flashback of Shinichi's promise to Ran about taking her to Tropical Land, while blushing. It follows with Ran looking back at him with a blank expression, before Shinichi says that they are opening a new one in Tokyo and that there will probably not be anything bad happening there. Ran then retorts that Shinichi must pay, which stresses him out, but Ran continues that he could do it on the condition that she wins her next tournament, which Shinichi replies that she already got second and third places in previous competitions and that the previous victor already retired. The flashback ends with Ran saying that he promised, implying that he ended up accepting to pay for Ran. These scenes are from the Aquarium Case from chapters 882-884.
The chapter officially starts with Shinichi's inner monologue about coming to said theme park to do a quick scout for his date. He stands among a crowded public square overlooking the ferris wheel, the castle, the rocket Balloon Race-type ride and stands. He stops at the Mystery Coaster and then at the Dragon Coaster and wonders which roller coaster ride he should pick. Remembering that Ran has a fear of ghosts, he decides to note down the Dragon Coaster, but sees a couple just exiting the Mystery Coaster. The woman embraces the man tightly as she says that the monsters were scary, with her partner reassuring her. Shinichi takes note of the romantic moment and imagines Ran doing that to him and decides that he will ride that one instead.
The story then moves forward to the evening, after Shinichi has made a plan about which rides to go and places to eat and is walking back while checking his notebook. He then notices a water fountain and sees Aoko Nakamori eating an ice cream, and Kaito Kuroba, who he does not know. Aoko tells Kaito that he "is really cold, like ice cream", before the latter does a magic trick to take her second ice cream and says, "but ice cream is sweet, you know!". This makes Aoko blush. Shinichi, who watched the whole scene, thinks to himself about how embarrassing what Kaito said was, but that this fountain is a must-go place for Ran and him. The scene ends with a caption saying that "he will never end up being able to go to that fountain", foreshadowing the events of episode 1.
