DCW IRL Round 6: Jupiter

Recommended Posts

Sayuri walked down the hallways of the 8th Battalion's HQ, on her way down to the cafeteria to get some food. Suddenly, someone yelled out, "Sayuri!"

The woman turned around. "Yeah?"

The man said, "We need you to go and help evacuate the 34th section. Armed Forces are going to be there with explosives in a few hours."

"Understand! I will be there ASAP."

The man ran off as soon as he was sure she was leaving, probably going off to tell other people what he had told her. She took off running, wanting to get to the area quickly. Man... I really do wish the Armed Forces would stop all of this....

"Oh, that's quite touching, Sparrow. You interfere with my plans? I find that a bit hard to believe." T watched the scene from above, hidden from sight. "I suppose you are still necessary for my plan, so I'll let you live."

T frowned. "I think its about time for me to mobilize my second pawn, Blackbird. Blackbird and Sparrow, you two will both start this war, whether you like it or not. Waylon," he called. Waylon walked up to T. T handed him a file with "Sakila" written on it. "I will leave you in charge of this one." Waylon nodded, smirked, then walked away.

"Fascinating, battles. Show me something interesting, my pawns, or I will have to exterminate all of you." He then vanished.

(Looking good, so far. Remember the missiles launch in a week!)

(Has anyone ever noticed that the number 34 seems to be popping up more than once in IRL? xD)

(Aww, and thank you everyone for keeping me involved in the matter even though I wasn't here. <3 will try to do the same.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Yep. 34th district... Yes, I know that it's not part of my—will you just get some people here?!... Know what? I am calling Brent right n—Finally! Thank you!... Yes. Get on it ASAP."
Sakila hung up. Next, Brent. She had him on speed-dial and quickly rang him up. "Hello?... It's Sakila. Geez, check your Caller ID, sir... Oh, right. We've gotten word..."
She told him what she knew before finding Misaki finished with speaking to Jackson. Tapping Misaki's shoulder, she asked, "Can I talk to Jackson for a minute?"
Misaki alerted him before handing over the phone. "Hello? My name is Sakila. I'm a Rank Three 8th Battalion member who's in charge of the 33rd district, the destination of the previous battle."
"Ah, yes. I see, what is it you'd like to speak about?"
"Regarding some recent speculations Misaki, Vivi, and I came up with. We were hoping to discuss these with you and Brent and any other certain members you find important. At this moment, it's highly exclusive information."
"Makes sense. The evacuation is our fist priority at this moment, though."
"Of course. Both troops are on their way. Thank you."
She handed the phone over to Misaki.
"Thanks."
"No prob."
"Alright, let the evacuation begin. We should do whatever we can ourselves before help arrives." She spotted a short, grumbling, familiar figure walking past them with a keg of beer. Yanking him back by the back of his collar, Sakila ordered, "Listen up, squirt. Need ya to go back to the 33rd district. We're evacuating the people out of here."
The boy nodded and headed off towards the restaurant. She turned back to her companions.
"How about we split up?"
"Alright, Veevs, good idea. Shall I take east?"
Vivi shuddered.
"I'll take the surrounding west area," said Misaki.
"The south is less densely populated, so I'll take north. You realize we will only cover a short section of the district this way, right you two? Be effective."
"On it, mastah!" Sakila ran off towards the east, pulling out her phone and texting her uncle's number.
"What do you know about Armed Forces and explosives?"
"A lot," came the reply.
"Hm." Vivi thought for a while before bending down and flipped on th power switch on her shoes and sped off towards the North.
If Sparrow was there they would have one more person to deal with the south. It seemed like she sped off pretty soon after Misaki made the phone call. Nobody except Vivi noticed though. Sparrow just had this kind of skill. She's perfect as an assassin.
Not before long, Vivi could see the North tower. She bent down and flipped the switch to power burst mode. At about 3 meters away from the tower, she stomped hard on the ground.
*POOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFRRRRRRR!!!!!!!*
An intense burst of air blasted out from her shoes and sent her flying. When she was within reach, she grabbed the tiles which was sticking out of the building and with a swing, she swung herself into the tower and her foot aiming right for the bell.
*DONGGG!*
The bell chimed through the entire land.
'There. Now for the evacuation plan.' Vivi jumped off the tower and headed towards the buildings.
Ash turned a corner, chewing anxiously on her toothpick and fiddling with the photograph stashed in her glove. I hate runnin' off while they gotta evacuate, but if I c'n in'ercept Petya... Then they won't even reach the city. We got one week ta stop 'em from settin' off the missiles... If I get ta 'im now,that should be plenty. Let's just 'ope that T guy ain't got more up 'is sleeve than we c'n manage. She took out a transceiver, twisting the dial until it was set to trace the chip she'd planted on Petya when she'd slashed him with her scythe. As the Forceless dork had said, he was headed from the base to the city... and from the heat sensor, there was a small group of his men armed to the teeth.... Curiously, there didn't appear to be an inhibitor with them. Does that mean they got an ability user with 'em? She shook her head as she ran, mumbling to herself. It doesn't matter. Brent's gonna be pissed when 'e finds out I ran off again, but if I c'n take Petya in fer questionin', I'll be one step closer ta endin' this crap... an' stoppin' pops... Ash sighed and stopped at a corner, peering around it. She was getting close to Petya's group... She even heard the sounds of voices, and heavy, in time footsteps."Just being gangsta minded, that's all."  Petya... that forceless jerk... She waited behind the wall for the group to get closer, her fists held to her chest as she charged her power.
(xD poor sparrow. :P)
"THERE!"
"GO!!"
"NOW!!!"
Vivi yelled to the people who did not know how to follow instructions properly. She hated work like this. It would be so much easier to fight.
Why can't they just go kill off the troops before they arrived!?
"Vivi... vivi..."
"What!?"
"Phone call. Phone call."
"Huh!? Who?"
"HQ. HQ."
"Hq?" Vivi turned around.
"Bzzzz... it's me."
"......"
"......"
"Who?"
"... Me. Fred."
"..................."
"... The technician."
"..................."
"... ... THE SHORTIE-"
"-I know."
"THEN ANSWER ME DAM****!!!"
"So? What's up?"
"Hm. I've done up a design for your bird. When you have the time, you can bring it down and I'll fix it up for you."
"Ah. How about now?"
"Now?"
"Yea, I'll get Kuu to find you. It has enough battery to last its entire flight journey."
"You're not coming?"
"Might not. Oh btw, I might need him as soon as possible though. An hour. Possible?"
"ONE HOUR!? You might as well kill me..."
"How about two?"
"... You seriously want my life?"
"Alright you tell me."
"Fastest a day. And along with all of the rest helping me. No more extra time."
"Alright. I'll come in a day. Thanks."
"..."
"...?"
"Just like this? Nothing else?"
"Nothing."
"No meals or anything?"
"... How about a few kegs of beer?"
"I'm underage..."
"Ah..... I forgot."
"That's all you want me to do?"
"That's all, Sakila. I'll get one of my subordinates to help you later."
"Alright, uncle."
"Any word on your..."
"No."
She hung up.
Sakila knocked on the door of the next house. "Excuse me," she said to the woman who opened it.
"Yes?" It was a tired looking woman in an apron. She noticed a child playing in the background and the bump on the woman's stomach. Sakila cringed.
"Um, I'm an 8th." She preented her official badge. "We're evacuating this area. We'd like you to gather your emergency belongings and head towards the south exit."
The woman nodded and Sakila carried on to the next house. This time, a strong-looking man opened the door. The house contained only him and his slightly younger brother. She directed them towards the north pass.
Sakila continued this, separating the strong and weak. She led the strong ones through the village at a fast pace. "Where are we going?" It was the neighbor of the pregnant woman who asked.
"Er, we were thinking that some of you younger civilians could assist us until the rebels came. We just—" She was cut short by the sound of the voices of Armed Forces members.
"That woman! I'll make her pay, if it's the last thing I do!"
"Yeah, right! You were the first to run!"
"Shaddup! That Sparrow! She thinks she can take me on, eh?! If only I'd been prepared then..."
Yeah right, I bet she'd tear you limb from limb. There's a reason your boss is so cautious of her.
She wondered where Sparrow was. Skirting around a building with her group, Sakila entered an underground tunnel.
"What are we doing down here?" The same man from before.
"Ambush," Sakila muttered. She led them through the labyrinth-like tunnels before opening a specific door and herding them in. It took them a while to realize it was a dead end, and by then, Sakila had already locked the door. "I'm really sorry," she said through the bars, "but I need you all to stay here. I'm sure you'll be fine. I only selected the hardiest candidates." With that, she made her way back to the surface.
Gosh, where's that subordinate uncle promised me?
As she climbed out of the secret tunnel, she found that someone else had joined the troops. General Petya.
And ahead of him was Sparrow.
Activating her ability, she sidled up to Petya's side and kicked the gun off target just as the general fired, leading it to hit a building and not Ash.
"Oi, what the?!" The girl turned around and, seeing who it was, immediately got her game face on.
Alright! Go Sparrow!
(*cough cough* I hope this will make it up to Chii-chan at least a little bit. Sorry for forgetting ya >__<)
(xD Thanks, Ime-chan, but I'm fine regardless~ ^^)
   " Oi, what the?!"  Ash spun as a gunshot sounded to see Sakila with Petya in front of her. Her eyes narrowed at the general. "You..." She charged her ability and struck Petya with a full on palm, grabbing his shirt to throw him to the ground. "Yer comin' with me, gen'ral pita~" She pushed over the unconscious man with her foot, then turned to his subordnates. "You guys wanna play?" They cringed as she cracked her knuckles, and she added. "Tell Greyface 'is pawn's been captured by the rebels' knight. 'E'll get it." Ash turned to Sakila as they ran away, cuffing and slinging the general over her shoulder. "I'm gonna take my informant ta HQ. How's the evac goin'?"
A spark went off, and the smell of ozone came into the air. Waylon came down straight from the sky, landing on the ground neatly in front of Ash and Sakila. He cracked his neck, then sneered. "To think I'd meet both birds here. Ha!" A bolt of electricity went down his body. He looked distastefully at Petya. "You got the useless general. Honestly, he knows pretty little, so it'd be better to kill him, pop him, or," he put his two hands apart and created electricity between his two palms, "zap him like this." He put his hands in his pockets. "I'm not interested in you, Ash, so will you leave Sakila and me?" He pointed at Ash and a jolt of electricity went to Ash, paralyzing her.
Waylon walked up to Sakila, and escorted her to another part of the area. He looked around, then said, "I'm here to make an offer on behalf of T. T would like to offer you a position in the Intelligence Services, and he promises power beyond your current limits if you accept. But more importantly, I'll tell you something."
"This is information that Brent didn't want to get to you, which tells you how much of a scumbag he is. Your parents," he paused, pleased at her reaction, then continued, "are alive and in the Intelligence Services." He recalled the story. "Your parents were badly injured by an attack after Brent formed his battalion, and he left them to die. We picked them up and recovered them. They are now safe and sound."
"Work for us, and you can see your parents again." He paused, then continued. "Should you choose to do so, I'd like you to do one last thing before you go, just to prove your loyalty." He pulled out a blue pistol, and handed it to Sakila. "This gun negates the ability of anyone who is shot by its bullets for 24 hours, and it's still deadly. I would like you to kill Mokou. You have 1 week." He jumped onto a wall, used his powers to stick onto the wall, and climbed up the wall and disappeared.
Thunder struck as the skies turn dark. A drizzle started right when the evacuation is going on. Smells of gun powder has been covered up by the smell of rain. Winds started to pick up and the air was sticky.
"I have a bad premonition..." Vivi turned to inspect the sky. "A storm's coming."
With a storm, the explosives cannot be fired. Gunpowder will be difficult to store and transport as well. The only problem is the missiles. Evacuation would be a problem with such weather too. Only about half has reached the hideout and the rest are still evacuating. Some refused to leave and are adamant on staying in their homes no matter what. Vivi had no choice but to stay there to monitor the situation. Also Vivi's wariness rose not because of the storm, there was an eerily unpleasant atmosphere accompanying the bad weather. She hoped that her tiny partner reached the technician safely. However, without her tiny friend she wasn't able to contact anyone else. She is stuck at the north side, alone.
Sakila walked back to the site to find Petya gone and Ash still on the ground. Running over, she found a familiar red-haired girl hunched over Sparrow. Sakila slid the pistol inside her right boot.
"Mokou! The troops have arrived?"
"Ah, Sakila! Why are you never at your post?"
"Sorry, sorry!" She laughed. "What are you doing?"
"Poor thing's taken a beating. I'm hoping I can try to help."
"Ah, I see. Good luck with that."
Around them, the sounds of supervising troops and evacuating villagers could be heard. After a while, Sparrow woke up.
"Wha... The Gen'ral! Where is 'e?!"
"Calm down!" Mokou forced the girl back down. "Sakila, I'll handle this. Go help out."
"...Alright."
She walked off, her pace a bit uncoordinated. The pistol pressed against her ankle made her shudder. Slowly, but surely, rain started to fall. For now, it was a nice enough drizzle, but the atmosphere foreshadowed that something worse was to come.
She wished she'd had her usual outfit. She wished she could have the hood up to protect her head from the summer rain. She wished she knew what to do. There were so many factors in play.
"Sakila!" The bald-headed man stood with an umbrella in front of her.
"Uncle? I thought you were sending someone."
"They were engaged in something else." Her uncle stood above her with the umbrella, shielding her from the rain.
"So, where are the hostages, Sakila?"
"In the rightmost cell underneath us."
He grinned. "That's great! I'll get some of my m—"
"Uncle. Why did you tell me to join the 8th Battalion?"
"Huh? To find your parents, of course."
"No.. Uncle, you've been telling me from the beginning that the 8th Battalion... was evil. That they were the reason my parents were gone. You told me to become an 8th because you said you needed information on their activities. And for these past years, I've lent you that information."
"That's... that's true, Sakila. And now, we have a trump card, right? Those hostages. We can make the Battalion our pawns."
"Incorrect. The Armed Forces have always been one step ahead of the Battalion. And that's because I infiltrated their organization. A double agent. But now, I'm having second thoughts..."
Her uncle's face started to turn red. "What are you talking about, Sakila?! You dare to defy me?! After everything I've done for you?!"
"I doubt you've done anything for me. You know, I recently discovered that my parents are under the supervision of the one who created the Inhibitor."
"...T? Wh-what?! It can't be! It... it must be Brent! He must be working with T!""
"No, you're working with T! See, uncle? You'll believe anything I say. You can't help me, uncle. The only reason I put up with you all this time was because you were family. And now, you're of no use to me." With that, Sakila disappeared and sidestepped to right. Pulling a knife out of her purse, she pierced it into her uncle's back. A cry of anguish could be heard and then the man fell to the ground. She knew she'd only been able to succeed and not fall prey to his ability because he trusted her.
"Goodbye, Uncle Greyfield."
Taking out her phone, she called Brent. "Sir? Greyfield is down."
Sakila waited and watched silently as troops surrounded her. One factor, down.
"You think your men can just attack us?! Halt, all of you!"
Sakila stepped forward between Petya's men and the 8th Battalion/Nubinelle Rebellion soldiers. An unconscious Greyfield was being taken into custody.
"You...." She smirked. "You might have been his general. But I'm his niece! I'm the sole survivor of his bloodline! And so, my status is higher than yours."
(Ah, and I didn't kill him, by the way. Probably against the rules or something. But Brent has him in Battalion custody. .........huh, betrayal, uncle incarcerated....Avatar, anyone?)
(And I think my last post bent the rules a bit, eh? I dunno ^^")
Misaki let out a sigh as she walked around the area she had been assigned. She had been trying to evacuate all the people she could, but couldn't get everyone since there were people refusing to leave their house. "Geez," she said to herself, "Don't they realize it'd be better to go to the shelter?"
Drip. Drip. Drip.
She looked up, seeing the rain that was bound to start pouring soon. A small grin graced her face. She had always loved the feel of it on her skin, hitting endlessly. She also loved the rainbow that came after it. Her grin turned bittersweet as her mind wandered off to a happier time, a nicer time.
Rain was pounding harshly against the glass. Misaki sat by the window, pouting."Stupid weather!" she said.
"And why is that?"
The 11 year old girl turned away from the dreary sight outside to look at the speaker. "Because!" she explained. "You said we could practice outside today but now we can't!"
The woman came closer, handing the child a cup as she curled up next to her. "The rain isn't that bad you know."
"What do you mean!? The rain is stupid! After all, it kept me from being able to fight with you...."
A small grin came onto her face as she brushed a few curls of brown hair aside. "But don't you know what comes after a rainstorm?"
"Mud?"
"No silly! A rainbow!"
"You mean those N shaped thingys that are in books? The ones that are colorful?"
"Yes, those. That's why I like the rain. Because it brings such a great sight into the world."
It fell quiet between the two, the pounding of rain the only thing heard. It stayed like that for a while until a small confession, just above a whisper, was said.
".... I've never seen one before. A rainbow."
"Then how about I show you one now?"
The girl gasped as she asked, "You can do that? You can show me a real rainbow?"
"Of course! just let me grab something, ok?"
She nodded as she watched the woman run off, her wild brown hair bouncing all over the place. She was back a few minutes later, some paper and a pencil in hand. Misaki's huge grin fell into a small frown. With disappointment apparent in her tone, she said, "You're going to draw it for me?"
The adult pouted. "What?" she responded, "And here I thought you wanted to see my ability."
Shock covered her face as she asked, "You're going to show me your ability?!"
The woman had often refused her requests to see her ability, with reasons such as "I'll show you one day" and "Not now". But finally, she was going to see it!
The disappointment that had been there before immediately left as she excitedly bounced up and down. "Show me, show me, show me!" she chanted.
With a grin, her mentor sat down and began to draw. She peered over her shoulder, watching in wonder at her skill. Once she finished drawing a rainbow, she looked at the girl and asked, "Are you ready?"
"Yep! Show me!"
With one hand on the paper, she snapped her fingers. All of the sudden, the rainbow, once confined to the paper, popped out of it, sparkling. She audibly gasped as she touched it, the cool glass feeling nice to touch.
"It's not the real thing," the woman explained, "But it looks pretty, don'tcha think? We can go see a real rainbow once the storm is over, ok?"
"OK! Thank you Kate! You're the best person ever!"
By now, the rain was dropping more steadily. She was drenched, but she really didn't care. She was lost in the memories of her dear mentor. But even so, she could hear the sound of shoes hitting wet ground. Talking too.
"Man! I can't believe it started to rain!"
"Stupid weather..."
She quickly hid behind a corner, pushing all childhood thoughts out her head in order to be ready to pounce if the men walking by were from the Forces. Judging from their uniform they definitely are.
Misaki extended her pipe, ready to beat the crap out of the two when she heard one say, "Crap! Louie, come on, we're being called by one of the generals."
"What for?" the other asked.
"They want us now! Greyfield has been caught by the Battalion!"
Her mouth fell open, shocked from the news. Greyfield?! Caught?! How the hell did-
"I know we're being called, but let's take care of this Battalion bitch before we do, ok?"
She looked at them, now much closer than she remembers them being a few seconds before. She readied herself as one of them laughed. "Look at her! Ha, I bet she probably doesn't even know how to fight."
She yelled, anger apparent in her voice, "Well then I guess it'll hurt twice as much when I beat the shit outta of you two!"
Before they could react, she lunged at the two and swung. It hit one of them right in the head. With a thud, he fell onto the ground. The other looked at her, going from being confident to scared, "Wanna be next?" she growled.
With a quick shake of his head, he ran away as fast as he could. She smirked as she watched him slip on the ground. Her eyes fell on the unconscious soldier, a plan now formulating her head. With deft hands, the uniform was quickly stripped from the man and folded under her arm. She left him, lying soaked against a brick wall in only his underwear, a small skip in her step as she smiled. Nothing like some good ol' embarrassment. Plus, never hurts to have a uniform in case infiltration is needed.
"......" Vivi started to get impatient from all the waiting. The rain isn't making it any better. She remembered the day where her parents died. It was a dark and cloudy day, just like this.
She remembered it was a normal drizzling day, and she was helping her mother bring the clothes in. Rei was playing in the house, fiddling with the bird which he made using simple materials. Her dad was sitting on the couch drinking his favorite tea. Never would they have expected that was the last day they would be together, and the start of Vivi's life of distraught.
The soldiers swarmed into the once peaceful and quiet village, knocking and demolishing buildings and trees. The gunshots rang throughout the entire land and screams and crying from the people can be heard from every corner of the village. Vivi vividly remember hiding behind the altar with her brother as their parents defended the house. The army knocked down the door and entered with their guns and weapons. Their father took the enemy by surprise and knocked down all the front soldiers at once with his newly invented multi hit weapon. Their mother immediately crafted a spear from their broken down door and skewered some others behind. Even though there were more soldiers, the two of them worked together perfectly and steadily defeated the soldiers one by one. Vivi couldn't help but feel impressed by their strength even when only watching their backs at a distance whilst hiding behind the altar.
After approximately 30 minutes of battle, the last of the soldiers were defeated and fell to the ground. Seeing that the coast was clear, Vivi came out of their hideout and rushed to her parents.
"Mother! Father!"
Vivi rushed to her parents side as Rei dashed into their mother's embrace, knocking her down on the ground.
"Mother, father, are both of you alright?" Vivi asked.
Both did not reply, just turned and smiled at Vivi and her brother. Her brother was still clutching on the wooden bird and crying in his mother's embrace.
"Rei..." their mother told Rei softly. "There are still soldiers in the area... Mother and father needs to stay here to fight. So you be good and get out of here with your sister okay?"
"No.. Mother, let's run. We don't need to fight. We can just..."
"Vi... You take your brother and get out of here. Run as far as you can."
"Mother..." Vivi turned to her father who turned around exhaustedly and forced a smile onto his face and gave her a nod. Vivi immediately understood what all of this meant - their parents are not going to make it - they must have exhausted all of their energy in the fight.
"Father..." Vivi gritted her teeth and kept shaking her head in response.
"Go... Now... Think for your brother Vi.." their father put a hand onto the wall to support himself and keep his balance. "You must take care of your brother... Go now!"
Holding back her tears, she grabbed her 6 years old brother by his hand and dragged him away from the village.
A few months later, Vivi, on her own will, entered the armed forces.
