  1. "So, who wants to retreat and change weapons? I wouldn't mind wasting a bullet on you if you get in my way. It's suicide to charge at them with these knives." Alice said, her voice tinged with sarcasm. She did have a point. Aquilas looked into her leather bag. She still had a lot of ammo, but not enough for the incoming army of probably millions of Shadows. "I agree with Alice," Aquilas said, looking at the black-haired girl, who was loading her revolver. "I think I'll retrieve some ammo first before I get into battle. And probably get some explosive while I'm at it. They deal great damage, and are effective in fighting large groups." The others were still, staring into the army, while some others were examining their memory crystals. Hesh, meanwhile, was now shooting at the Shadows with his Mk. 46. Aquilas felt the weight of the memory crystal in her bag. It wasn't so big, just a small crystal with a yellowish tint, like their weapons. Aquilas wasn't planning to have the memories returned at the moment, anyway. It's not like they'll be of help in the Rift. She turned to her companions. "What now?"

  3. (I brought this up on the DCTP forums, might as well bring it up here) (Copy Pasta XP) So I was reading this: (WARNING: MIGHT CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS) And I came across the part where Miyano Akemi's text message to Akai was mentioned: The aforementioned text message: So I was wondering, what could be in Akemi's PS that would be of relevance in the plot later on? Any speculations?

    Are you Alice?

Maybe the one in the Rift's a different Alice. Or maybe Astra-chan's just misleading us, and she's actually Alice.
  11. "Go!" Aquilas and Iyana advanced on their opponent, their sharp blades glinting yellow. They began slashing fiercely and aggressively at the Reaper, slicing through its bones and stabbing it through the chunks in its armor. Aquilas managed to slash through the joint connecting the Reaper's arm to its torso, so its right limb hung loosely on its shoulder. She grabbed the loose limb and pulled it forcefully from the creature's body, the force so hard the Reaper's arm tore off. Iyana also managed to slice off the Reaper's left foot, and Aquilas smiled. She also noticed that not a single Shadow was rushing to the Reaper's defense. She saw Tamsin hitting each and every Shadow that came their way, thus leaving the Reaper defenseless. "Take him down, you two! I've got ya covered." Tamsin said, and Aquilas continued slashing at the Reaper. Aquilas was about to drive her dagger through the Reaper's skull when it started making a distorted, cold sound, like it was cackling. Then the Reaper and all the other Shadows disappeared, leaving her group in the middle of the endless whiteness, as if no battle happened. The battle was over, or so they thought. It was simply the calm before the storm. The ground around them started shaking, as if a massive earthquake just struck the Rift. The floor before them broke open, revealing an army of Shadows led by more Reapers. The army this time, though, was a real army. The group they fought earlier was nothing compared to this one. This group's size was more than a thousand times larger than the one they battled. And this one was probably led by a lot more Reapers than the one before. She was tempted to retreat. Her group didn't stand a chance against this legion. Suddenly, Aquilas remembered the angel's words. "Show me what you got. The strength of the ego will be the your way out of the Rift." Aquilas took a deep breath. If she wanted to get out of the Rift, she needed to be strong. She needed to fight her way against the creatures, even if it meant her death. It was either death or getting out of the Rift. Besides, she wasn't even sure if she wanted to go back to her life before she crashed landed into the Rift. And even if I die, she said to herself, it won't be in vain. The others will be a step closer to getting out of this place. "I won't retreat. I won't let a bunch of soulless creatures who feed on the memories of people like us scare me away; we are so much more than that." She said, standing her ground. She saw the black-haired girl---Alice, was it? holding out a couple of yellow crystals. A weird feeling soared through her body. She felt--strange was the only word for it, as if the crystals were drawing her in. Then it came to her---one of those crystals must be her memories, and this was the feeling that Tamsin was talking about, how you would know that you were near your memories. The memory crystals draw in the person who owns them. She went over to Alice. "Alice, was it?" Aquilas asked. She took her crystal, and put it in her bag. She decided she'd just deal with them later; right now they'll just serve as a distraction. "I'm Aquilas. Nice to meet you, Alice." She said, then turned to face the army. "Someone needs to call Joshua. We'll need some help over here."

  16. Right before Aquilas's eyes, a yellow arrow darted past, piercing Iyana's thick leather pouch. She stood there, a little surprised by the sudden unexpected shot, and thanked goodness that Iyana was able to block it. She held out her hand and helped Iyana up. "Nice reflexes," Aquilas complimented her. The two girls stood in front of the Reaper. The Reaper stood on its own, the bones of what seemed to be the Reaper's skeletal horse scattered on the ground, apparently blown to bits by the grenade. The Reaper didn't exactly have eyes, but Aquilas felt that it was as if the Reaper was staring at them both with its empty, dark eye sockets. Iyana pulled out the arrow that cut through her bag, and put it inside. Aquilas assumed that she was probably going to give it to Prem later on. Iyana grinned at Aquilas. "Let's fight this skeleton, shall we?" Aquilas nodded in agreement, her silver-grey eye glinting. "Since the Reaper got a direct blast from the explosion earlier, it's weakened, and there are probably chunks in its armor. Let's cut through those holes with our blades." Aquilas suggested. "When I say go, we charge at the Reaper." Aquilas took a deep breath and pointed her dagger, blade glinting yellow. "Ready?" (finally, AL-nii, I was wondering where you were ;A; Your action scenes are really good, actually. )

  20. Aquilas gasped a bit as she saw the Reaper tilting its bow, aiming directly at her. As the Reaper released the string, her reflexes took over her, the arrow narrowly missing her right shoulder as she ducked. "That was a close one," Aquilas said, brushing her bangs to the side of her face. Hesh's bullet drove straight through the Reaper's skull, and there was a large blast. Even though it seemed like a pretty huge blast, Aquilas still wasn't convinced that the Reaper was gone. It was far too strong to be taken out by a single bullet, at least from what she'd heard from Tamsin. Sure enough, she was right. The Reaper was just blasted sideways from the impact, but the shot didn't affect the Reaper so much. Aquilas could see the bullet embedded in the Reaper's skull, but it was just a couple of seconds before the Reaper got up again and got ready to aim. "Aquilas!" She heard a voice say, and suddenly Tamsin was there, swinging her bat, trying to hit the Reaper. "Go Tamsin!" Aquilas yelled in support, as she got up and shot down more Shadows. She could see that the wave of Shadows were thinning---she and her friends were doing a great job at finishing them off. She kept close watch on Tamsin as she attacked the Reaper, watching Tamsin's every move while Aquilas blasted off more Shadows. Finally, Tamsin was able to hit the Reaper. It came to Aquilas that there was probably one more Reaper around, and she set out to locate it before anyone on their side would be hit unexpectedly, like what just happened to her. She moved around, trying to search for the other Reaper, firing Shadows along the way. She figured that the other Reaper might be hiding itself in the huge wave of Shadows, trying to camouflage itself. She noticed a strangely huge cluster of Shadows, and she suspected that the Reaper might be at the center, shielding itself from her and her companions. As she looked around, something caught her eye---a yellow glint somewhere on the ground near her. She moved towards it, and picked it up. It was a grenade, with the same yellow tint as her other weapons. Odd enough, it was there. She figured that the grenade was just like her weapons, and by the looks of it, it would deal great damage towards the enemies. She got ready to aim it, determining the proper distance to throw it. Then she pulled the pin on top, and threw it towards the large cluster of Shadows. After a couple of seconds, there was a huge blast, and the Shadows around were scattered. Like she suspected, the other Reaper was there. It was probably weakened due to the explosion. Stepping forward, she pulled out her dagger, unsheathed it, and got ready to fight. Aquilas knew she couldn't take the Reaper on all by herself---the Reaper was too strong for that. She needed some help of at least two of her companions. She glanced around, making eye contact with her companions. They should at least try to threaten the Reaper, just enough to drive the Shadows away. Not too far from her, she could see a blade slashing around, quick, agile, and fluid movements. Aquilas caught a glimpse of deep violet eyes. "Iyana!"
