  1. My thoughts exactly when I saw that panel. He stook out immediately and it looked like Gosho's art. Would love for that to be the case, since I'm already expecting him to appear next(or the last) chapter of this case(to have his teased meeting with Amuro). Slightly concerned about DB revealing Subaru's choker to Amuro, seeing as he's already getting info on the DB badge.
  2. That was pretty clear in the manga though... the difference being that they subbed it as a if it was something he found out, rather than something he believed(I guess I see what you mean). Rumi being Rum is like Subaru being Bourbon.
  3. Welcome! Nice to have new members joining here. I'm also a long-term fan(a mystery otaku).
  4. Rum Arc Discussion Series: Update #1 This is my first update on my thoughts regarding the previously discussed characters and plot. I'll be going in order of the discussion series. Wakita Kanenori Wakasa Rumi The Kohji Case Iori Muga Summary:
  5. That just triggered something in me. I didn't even consider the likelihood of Kuroda getting his movie debut soon. Makes sense that he will be involved, so I already can't wait!
  6. Still doesn't mean that she had to have been photophobic.
  7. That's a very bold claim. For all that we know, people were taking photo of Amanda, and Asaka stepped up to stop them from taking further photos. Just because this obscure photo is shown in the website doesn't mean that it wasn't handpicked for sole reason of being ambiguous enough that Asaka can't be identified.
  8. As I said, it's similar to your hunches. I haven't dismissed anything(just acknowledging the likelihood of things based on Gosho's pattern). In regards to the uploader and the info they are sharing, that's all we are seemingly getting(until the official reveal), so I'm not under the impression that we are in need of getting more clues about the uploader, beyond what we got in File 948. Yes, and what it was directed towards is something("U" shard) that was not found in the crime scene to begin with(at least according to the website). Since only its absence had a relevance in the crime scene(according to the picture that the uploader is desperately painting), I wouldn't equate it to an indicator of a potential tampering of the crime scene. As for the question of how Rumi was able to get it, it belongs to the discussion of her identity. With all that being said, I'm following what has been given to us in the exposition files, and I've so far not gotten the indication that the timing of the photos plays a role.
  9. I also thought this was hinting that it was Mary's before(when I supported the "Asaka=Mary" theory), but since that theory has been debunked to me now(not officially ofc), the only way I can see this work is if Mary passed it on to Asaka, who later lent it to Kohji. Since my theory is that Asaka was originally Kohji's bodyguard(before Amanda-meeting in Kohji's room), there's the possibility that Asaka was close to Kohji and the Akai family. To me, similarly to your hunches, the idea that the timing of when the photos was taken is important(meaning that Asaka could have taken the photos before fleeing with the hand-mirror) is off. I don't think those kinds of technicalities will have any significance, since Conan never mentioned or wondered about when and by who the photos(specifically) were taken. I believe that Gosho gave us all the important bits to think about in regards to the uploader(following Gosho's M.O with case exposition), and nothing specific about the photos was questioned(meaning they have less likelihood to play a role in the timing of the events). I doubt that Asaka didn't have a pocket to put the mirror in when she was fleeing anyway. It makes the most sense that she was seen with the hand-mirror while using it.
  10. I agree with this. I don't think that the mirror was taken afterwards. I think the point of the Hotta Gaito hint was to indicate that it originally belonged to Asaka, a female bodyguard, and that Haibara's "suggestion"(which really just looks like Gosho's hint), that kohji might've been given the hand-mirror by someone other than Amanda, indicates that Asaka lent it to him.
  11. Helps out immensely, thanks! If that's the case, looks like a version 2 of my speculations needs to be made. Gonna wait for the upcoming canon episode still, in case we get clarity. Still can't believe it.
  12. Still, the M.O is to clean the room after you to make it look like nothing happened. The point in File 948 was that the disarray in Kohji's room implied that it either wasn't BO's doing or that somethimg happened that forced the killer to leave it like that. What made Rum in a hurry? I see. It did, although I am not convinced that we have info that would suggest that Kohji was close enough to Amanda(or Tsutomu) that she(he) would entrust him with dangerous information. Or wait until the anime clear things up(I wonder if they have the same debate before they confirm things with Gosho).
  13. @Chekhov MacGuffin as I said, I already confirmed it with Spimer, and Gent already had Wakarimashita's input and corrected it.
  14. Exactly my point, meaning that it follows the M.O, unlike what is written in the Wiki. It IS switching, Because Haneda's room was Conan's initial focus. Haibara side-tracked him with the Amanda-room-comparison, and after confirming Haibara's claim by saying "seems like it"/"Certainly", he keeps going with what he was reading about Kohji's room.
  15. I'm relying on Spimer's and Gent's words. Spimer confirmed that Haibara never says "just as messy"(but rather is claiming that Amanda's room followed BO's M.O) and Conan says that Kohji's room has the tap open. Gent says that Wakarimashita corrected him and that the end-result is what is now written in Batoto. Looks like you are the one out of the loop. From the narrative of the case exposition and the "clenched scissor" case development, it makes sense too that Kohji used the tap in his room and that Amanda's room was successfully cleaned(which makes Kohji's death stick out even more). Otherwise Conan would've pondered on why Kohji was in Amanda's room when he cut the mirror. (Edit: sadly, I rely only on DCW wiki when I want to confirm some trivial info rather than the main plot info, since there's a bit of a bias in stuff like the BO research info).
  16. "CARASUMA" is the only name that fits with the message completely. The other ones lack letters. "Wakasa Rumi" is most likely just an alias made to look like the dying message, rather than it being what the message was saying.
  17. Interesting, but there's one problem you haven't explained... Why was Kohji's room left as a mess, but not Amanda's, if Kohji was killed before her? So you're saying that Amanda told Kohji, while knowing that Kohji has connections to a non-FBI-agent detective(Tsutomu)? Why would she rely on Kohji's non-FBI friend if she herself has ties to both FBI and CIA? Would that mean that Asaka killed Amanda first(after hearing her tell Kohji)? There's no info in the website that would be exclusive to the law enforcement agancies. Like Agasa said, there was "minute-details" in it, implying that it's info that only someone that was there could get. As for the dying message, "CARASUMA" is still a viable reading(meaning that Kohji picked up something from the perpetrator, like the family crest, that pointed to the "Karasuma" family). Possible... less likely however if Tsutomu is Kuroda. Hope to get your reaction now
  18. nope, it wasn't. Only Kohji's room had the tap open.
  19. It's all a matter of perspective.
  20. Helping him with a disguise involves overseeing it(in case his cover might be in danger), like in File 851-852. Or, she could disguise as Azusa and have Bourbon's support whenever she lacks info on her. Don't know why you think she needs to keep an eye on Bourbon. Either way, as I said, her offering a capable blackmailer help(which would get her involved in the mission), and then rushing with a disguise to the scene after this said blackmailer neglects it(with a weak excuse that was immediately averted from), gives me reason to consider this possibility.
  21. Actually, you are wrong here. Bourbon alone had orders to investigate the Asaca song. Vermouth on the other hand deliberately tried to get involved by offering Bourbon to help with a disguise. Even when Bourbon declined, she still hurried to the scene with a rushed disguise and a weak excuse(considering that Bourbon has been hanging around the Mouri all this time). Then she suddenly changes subject, as if that excuse wasn't important. She was also the one who asked about the "Asaca" song's name in the end. All this gives me a reason to consider that she's very much interested in the dying message and that the reason is Asaka's disappearance(which could potentially be due to the Miyano's prototype having a hidden rare side-effect that doesn't kill). First of all, we don't know if her state is a result of SB or not, but even if it wasn't, she has proven to have all intentions of hindering the BO from progressing with their research, and if SB had the potential of improving the BO's results, then that's all the reason for her to destroy the Miyano's project.
  22. Or,... The BO started a drug research 50 years ago. It ended up failing(Vermouth's state being a possible result of that, or the boss' possible shrinking). The BO wanted to use Atsushi's and Elena's research ideas("Silver Bullet") because it had potential to correct the errors of their own research or/and fix the problems that followed its failure(like the possible shrinking) if it(SB) was used as a foundation for it(BO research). The Miyano parents started the "Silver Bullet" project(creation of a "dream drug"), and the BO used the funds of many contributors(like Pisco) to help them develop the "Silver Bullet" drug. Roughly 18 years ago, the Miyano suddenly had a reason to "leave" their daughters and, most likely, the BO behind to finish their research. Reasons could be(could be a combination of these reasons): The BO started using humans as guinea pigs, which was recorded in the APTX list(which was labeled as "Silver Bullet" list in the past). The Miyano parents found out about the BO's criminal activities and realized that they might turn SB into a "terrifying drug". Elena had a sense of foreboding(similar to Haibara's sense) that someone(probably Vermouth) was gonna do something if they continued with the research(which lead to the eventual "accident", that was probably orchestrated). It's also possible that what became an incentive for them wanting to "leave"(and for Vermouth to orchestrate the "accident") is the fact that they made unreported progress with the SB(the discovery of an effect that doesn't kill). This possibility has potential to be touched upon through the recent "Asaka's disappearance" mystery. The Miyano parents were probably seeking MI6's(Mary's) help, and they most likely faced two options, where they took their daughters with them, but risked being caught, or they left their daughters and successfully fled(and ultimately saving a lot potential victims in the future). Knowing that her newborn daughter might be nurtured by the BO to become a scientist that will recreate the SB project, she created the tapes for each birthday(hoping that it will support her in the future, regardless of Shiho's choices). Before they could flee from their laboratory with their research materials, Vermouth trapped them inside and burned them along with their laboratory and research materials, in order to stop any possible development to the original BO research or/and something that could fix the problems that followed its failure. After losing their valuable scientists, the BO decides to make Shiho their new scientist(As Elena predicted), who from the start is under the impression that her parents goal was the same as BO's research goals(Original research development or/and problem fixer). She was therefore under the impression that her parents research was something that most people would consider to be non-beneficial(Doll case), rather than what it actually was(a "dream" drug). With the remains of her parent's research material and the BO's own research materials, she created what the BO started calling "APTX 4869". Regardless of whether it was to trick Sherry or not, since the APTX's foundation was partially her parents' research, the "Silver Bullet" list's data of test subjects was still gonna contribute to the APTX development, and was relabeled as "APTX" list. Sherry managed to create a drug with a shrinking side-effect. Pisco's reaction further indicates that the remains of her parents' materials have contributed to these side-effects. After hearing her mother's tape, she realizes that she was creating a completely different drug, rather than the "terrifying"/"dream" drug "Silver Bullet", and realizes that APTX 4869(or its antidote, that could be the final stage of APTX) shouldn't have been made(File 821).
