Because it's more interesting than ShinRan and fits better than AiCon. 
I think Haibara needs a boy who is sweet and she can lean on while Mitsuhiko needs a woman that knows what she wants and how to get it and how to help him. To me they're like Chuck and Sarah from Chuck.
