Takahiro Arai (新井 隆広 Arai Takahiro?), born June 16, 1982 in Kanagawa Prefecture, is the mangaka in charge of Zero's Tea Time, a spin-off of Detective Conan centered on the character Rei Furuya, which is published in the Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine. He later also worked on Wild Police Story, which focused on Hiromitsu Morofushi, Wataru Date, Kenji Hagiwara, Jinpei Matsuda and Rei Furuya, who all studied together at the Police Academy.

Biography

Born in June 1982 in Kanagawa Prefecture, he graduated from Eiko Gakuen High School in Kamakura and later the faculty of economics of Keio University[1]. He then lived for a short period in Scotland, UK. Arai started in 2004 with a one-shot named "Grand Butler" (グランバトラー), published in Shonen Sunday S[2].

His first big work was Darren Shan, from the eponymous novel series by Darren O'Shaughnessy (aka Darren Shan)[2]. After the success of this manga, he started in 2009 his first original manga, "AR∀GO", which ended in 2011. In 2013, he started a manga adaptation of the all-time classic novel by Victor Hugo "Les Misérables"[2].

In 2018, he started writing "Zero's Tea Time", based on "Detective Conan", under supervision of Gosho Aoyama. In 2019-2020, he drew "Wild Police Story", from the original scenario by Gosho Aoyama.
