Background
Sherry
Shiho Miyano and her older sister, Akemi Miyano were born into the secret crime syndicate "The Black Organization". Shiho's English mother, Elena Miyano, and Japanese father, Atsushi Miyano were both were important researchers for the Organization. They both died in what other members of the Organization described as an accident while Shiho was young. While Akemi lived a normal life, Shiho was sent to America as a small child to go to school and was groomed to finish her parents' research on APTX 4869.[3]. A prodigy, by the age of thirteen she was working as a highly ranked scientist for the Organization.[4] Her codename in the Organization is "Sherry", after the alcoholic drink.
Shiho was about 18 years old when she developed the most current incarnation of the experimental test compound APTX 4869. Although it was not her intended purpose[5], she discovered that it could be used as a poison to kill without leaving any traces of itself in a body. While researching its effects, Shiho noticed that one of her lab mice had become younger after being given the drug instead of dying. Meanwhile, the Black Organization started using APTX 4869 to commit untraceable murders.
Escape From the Black Organization
Her unhappiness over the Black Organization's usage of the APTX 4869 for killing purposes though the drug has not yet been fully developed, in addition to her open questioning pertaining to the murder of her sister, Akemi Miyano, resulted in her imprisonment and scheduled execution by the Black Organization. With no other way out, she took a pill of APTX 4869 to commit suicide, but instead shrunk into a seven or eight year old girl. In her new smaller body, she escaped from the Black Organization and attempted to reach Shinichi's house, hoping he may be able to help her. Exhausted, she collapsed in front of Kudo's house, where she was found by Professor Agasa, who eventually adopted her.[6] In fact, as it turned out later, Agasa had known her parents - especially her father, Atsushi Miyano -, personally, even though he didn't know at that time that they've had children.[7][8]

Plot overview
Prior to Escape
Shiho Miyano was ordered to test the most recent version of APTX 4869 on Kichiro Numabuchi, a failed assassin. Shiho received the data about him, but he managed to escape the Organization before she could test it on him.
Unaware of the APTX 4869's rare side effect when they used it on Shinichi Kudo, the Organization ordered a search for him because his body had not been found. Shiho searched Shinichi's house twice after he had been shrunk to confirm his death for the Black Organization. She began to suspect Shinichi's transformation after she searched his house for a second time and found that his clothes from primary school were missing. Shiho then confirmed him as deceased so the organization would not look into the matter further and kill him after all.
Around the same time Akemi began making plans to get Shiho and herself out of the Organization....

In episode 176-178, Conan encounters Gin and Vodka again. Ai is kidnapped and confined to a wine cellar, but turns into an adult after she drinks baijiu. Despite wearing glasses and janitor clothing, Gin and Vodka recognize her and shoot her repeatedly until Conan appears. He shoots Gin with his needle, but Gin doesn't fall asleep. He tells Ai to jump into the chimmey, and Vodka shoots at him, but he gets away. Gin purposely shoots himself in the arm due to trying to stay awake. Inside, Pisco almost kills her, but Conan rescues her after Pisco accidentally causes a fire. Gin kills Pisco for failure before he's able to tell him the truth about Shiho. Worried that the organization is after her, Ai decides to leave the city.

Gin has an abnormal attachment for Shiho and seems to enjoy hunting for her, while she hates him. They may have had a romantic relationship in the past.[9]
Vodka
Shiho and Vodka have met and are acquaintances.[9]
Vermouth
Vermouth and Shiho have some connection, although it has not been elaborated on. Shiho fears Vermouth more than other Black Organization members except perhaps Gin. Shiho was Vermouth's target, but Vermouth gave up on her after Conan's intervention. If Shiho was in a romantic relationship with Gin, then Vermouth and Shiho were love rivals as Vermouth was in a sexual relationship with Gin.[9]
Shuichi Akai
Shuichi Akai and Shiho are likely to have known each other via Akemi Miyano whom Akai was dating. Shiho knew Akai under his alias "Dai Moroboshi", but it is not known if she was aware of his defection and allegiance to the FBI. As Haibara, she is still afraid of and senses the "Black Organization aura" from Akai. Akai recognizes Haibara as Shiho, saying he is not willing to face her yet, likely over guilt related incidents culminating in Akemi's death.

(Manga Volume 58, File 2, pg 9: "Akai's Past") According to the FBI’s description, Shiho was “a scientist for them” at the time. Furthermore this took place in Japan since everyone was speaking Japanese, Akemi lived in Japan, and the FBI bust two years prior to the current timeline was in Japan (607 pg 8). If Shiho is 18 now, she would be 13 at the time Akai started infiltrating the Org and she was already a scientist for them at this point and high ranked.
