When Takami Ohno married Bonzo Ohno's son and the two inns were merged as a result, her mother was callously laid off by Bonzo despite her years of dedicated work. Though her dismissal was not her fault, nobody was willing to give her any paid work, and she died two years later, completely destitute. Next to Bonzo Ohno, Takemi was also one of Koyanagi's targets, but Koyanagi reconsidered after she had seen the injuries on Takemi's hands from her hard work at the inn, which reminded her of her mother, and because she didn't want Kohei to go through the same suffering she did.
