Situation

The Detective Boys and Conan met a group called the Silver Detective League, who are similar to them. The Silver Detective League said that they saw a thief with blond hair and followed him into a house, where they saw Kiyomasa Kuroda's corpse.

The culprit is Eitaro Tokunaga. He wanted to get revenge for a elderly lady whom Kiyomasa Kuroda hit with his car so that he could get her money. Some time later Kuroda murdered her by pushing her down the stairs leading to a train station. He had orchestrated the entire plot by forming the silver detectives, in doing so he could establish an alibi for the murder and tamper of any evidence along the way.

• The book Conan makes a reference to is John Dickson Carr's novel The Emperor's Snuff-Box.
• Kiyomasa Kuroda's car is a dandelion yellow Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V. The license plate number is 新宿 300, な 16-73 (Shinjuku 300, Na 16-73).
• In 2026, more than ten years after the original airdate, the case received a sequel, The Detective Boys VS The Silver Detectives 2.
