The Detective Boys and Conan met a group called the Silver Detective League, who are similar to them. The Silver Detective League said that they saw a thief with blond hair and followed him into a house, where they saw Kiyomasa Kuroda's corpse.

The book Conan makes a reference to is John Dickson Carr's novel The Emperor's Snuff-Box.
Kiyomasa Kuroda's car is a dandelion yellow Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V. The license plate number is 新宿 300, な 16-73 (Shinjuku 300, Na 16-73).
In 2026, more than ten years after the original airdate, the case received a sequel, The Detective Boys VS The Silver Detectives 2.
