I think they're different for everyone. When I took them I reached the required amount of points (for the summer camp I was going to) on my first trial try despite not knowing half of the math material...

There's no real way to study for them. For English, just make sure you get grammar correct. Go through textbooks and see if you can find the grammar errors in certain sentences they give you. Now if I knew you IRL, I could give you a couple of my older trial tests. I found this amazing place to study for SATs that let you bring the tests home. I suggest getting used to the format as well. The real thing about SATs is to do all the ones you know, guess the ones you have a good chance on, and leave the ones you honestly don't know blank. They deduct points for wrong answers but don't give you any or deduct any for blank ones. Other than that...pay attention to details.
