  1. Not true, as I said previously, most supernatural phenomena HAS been identified as something quantifiable, which is why most scientists don't concern themselves with studying it. It is a dead-end field (Sorry Ghostbusters, but we still love you). Here are some enlightening links for all you pro-ghost people to visit, including DCTP's version of this topic. First on the list... The Shady Science of Ghost Hunting You can read the first half of it, but really, the real brunt of the article in relation to our discussion starts at "Devices that don't work" and more importantly "Reality Check." Really I think they could have applied the concept of Occam's Razor to add another dimension, but hey, its a good article regardless. Now the next two are Cracked articles, slightly less legitimate, but they do usually do their research and mention many good things. The Creepy Scientific Explanation Behind Ghost Sightings The title says it all.. 10 Famous Unsolved Mysteries Easily Explained by Science Read more: 10 Famous Unsolved Mysteries Easily Explained by Science | Cracked.com http://www.cracked.com/article_19205_10-famous-unsolved-mysteries-easily-explained-by-science_p2.html#ixzz1d2ACJAYL #5 is the point of interest here... It explains actual ghost sightings. Last but not least, DCTP's thread DCTP's Do you believe in ghosts thread Feel free to read both sides, but pay special attention to Jd-'s posts. BTW, that is also where Kleene defends her position AGAINST Jd-. Quite interesting really... Also, that is why I don't feel the NEED to go after Kleene's beliefs, I've already done it once before accompanied by Jd- and Abs. if I recall correctly. Now to those of you who are likely thinking, "BUT KYUU! WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE GHOST SHOWS WITH VIDEO EVIDENCES!?!?!?!?!" Well... Here are two links that you should likely read up on Pepper's Ghost. Also this is a fun video! More camera trickery! There is plenty of videos, articles, and so fourth that PROVE that it isn't a ghost, but YOU placing a "ghost" there. I would be harsher with my words and tonality, but I'm trying REALLY hard not to be mean with this. If you consider that first link I posted and the fact that it explains that those ghost hunting devices don't work, combine it with the two Cracked articles, and throw it into the mix with Pepper's Ghost, EVERY SINGLE LAST GHOST SIGHTING IS EXPLAINED! And if they aren't there is something called "lying," because lets face it, every ghost story is anecdotal and is NEVER replicated. As for there being phenomena that is unexplainable by science, sure there are things that are left unknown by science, but none of them are supernatural, because EVERY supernatural phenomena is ANECDOTAL and NOT REPRODUCIBLE. The things that I know science can't explain, and my genetics professor jokingly said that those things were "magic." And when you think about it that is not entirely untrue. The natural world IS magical when you think about it, but not because it is supernatural, but because it can do things that humans have been unable to replicate, or cannot figure out as of yet despite countless hours of research and grant money put into solving the issue. None of that means that they aren't unexplainable, but that we don't have the tools necessary to explain them yet. But again, feel free to prove me wrong and collect that one million dollar bounty, and remember to check the log of applicants. Enjoy this long information filled post. Naturally you are entitled to believe what you want, but until you can prove it, don't try and convince anyone that ghosts exist, because there is NO evidence of them existing, but plenty of evidence DISPROVING ghost SIGHTINGS and ghost RELATED phenomena (please note that I never said science disproved ghosts, as stated, it hasn't and probably won't because there are more important things to study and no one will fund that research) Now I'll believe in ghosts when someone can show me some hard evidence of them existing, I have the same policy with ALL supernatural things. I don't discount any possibilities, but I don't believe anything until I can see tangible evidence of it. tl;dr: All signs point to ghosts NOT existing. The possibility remains, but until science can prove it, they don't. Funny thing about that is if science does prove it, not only will it not be supernatural, but a name will be affixed to it that will likely not be ghost because it will be connected to a natural phenomena. But as it stands all "evidence" of ghosts and supernatural phenomena hasn't stood up to even the slightest scrutiny.
  2. HEY! I have not quote spammed anyone in this yet, other than someone who AGREES with me, and that was a singular quote. Though after I find it, I'm going to link to the DCTP topic so that everyone can read the many walls of text. Which are mostly by Jd- (for anti-Ghosts) and are very good. He basically said what I wanted to in great detail when I didn't have the time or patience to the research necessary for long posts.
  3. No offense to you, but fans like you annoy me to no end. Fans that act like these CHARACTERS are REAL PEOPLE that have free will. Shinichi CANNOT decide, which is why topics like this are possible and fun, because if the writer, in this case Gosho Aoyama, decides it he can make Shinichi (really Conan since he would have to remain as such) end up with Ayumi, Ran end up alone and broken, and basically troll all the fans' expectations. Don't kid yourself otherwise. Gosho has made it pretty clear that Shinichi and Ran will end up together, but that is NOT set in stone, and HE can change it any way he pleases. Hell, if he wants he can have Shinichi die to save Ran in the process of fighting the BO and have HER be the overall hero of the story, avenging her one true love. There are countless possibilities, but one thing remains constant, and that is THE CHARACTERS HAVE NO SAY WHAT SO EVER! And I have said this before, but the POINT of this topic is NOT to discuss who WILL end up with Shinichi, but who is BETTER SUITED for Shinichi. I'm really starting to think that people don't know how to read the topic's title, or perhaps don't understand what it means. Again, Gosho has made it pretty clear who Shinichi will end up with, but that does not mean that she is the best for Shinichi, or that debates like this are not necessary, just because there is no question of the ending between Ran and Shinichi. </rant> -Sigh- That has been building up for a while... To remain on topic... ShinShi FTW, that is all.
  4. It has gotten to the point where there is nothing left for me TO say. I can just link back to all my old posts... Between you and AJ M I've written a lengthy paper on why Shiho is better for Shinichi than Ran. I really don't think I have it in me to continue any further. I'm sure I could think of more just to argue specific points, but I don't see the point because at that point its just nit picking.
  5. Need thoughts on something I posted in MLP thread...

  6. I posted something in MLP thread you should look at when you get the chance

  7. Fair enough. I think there is enough interest in the podcast itself. I think its more of an issue with time availability for the fans. You could do it for special events, like something MAJOR happens in either the anime or manga. Or for something like the movies or OVAs that people always seem to want to discuss.
  8. Dude.... They are siblings... Its like... something that is done... I have reacted like Rarity on more than one occasion, but strangely enough I'm the younger sibling... However cleaning up that mess, was not her fault. That was a fair assumption. The gem thing... yeah... you don't do that unless you know they are worthless, which she didn't. The sweater thing was an honest mistake. And Rarity DID need to loosen up, which she did. Was a good episode for her. In other news... Has anyone heard this song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdvVWa4XYSs If this is real... damn, they are continuing with awesome songs. And this is better than Pinkie Pie's other songs, well most, and certainly more serious.
  9. And I think I have given you the solution to your problems.

  10. To solve your problems in ONE FELL SWOOP, xSplit! That is it! xSplit! You can broadcast on JustinTV (or what ever else you want) and they have their own chat. And you can link to the media (aka the conference call). You can use IRC if you want... though most people just use the site's embedded chat.
  11. Take my advice about the podcast being live under advisement. Would allow for fan input.

  12. I have decided.... You need to do these live... Also.... You missed the point of ridiculousness... Was in M3 with the bulletproof glasses. The M5 thing was the biggest thing. In regards to the munitions question... No... not enough... Not unless they were PERFECTLY placed in places of extreme weakness. Which would need access to the blueprints. Though it wouldn't happen that fast either.
  13. Clearly we choose the wrong topics to converse over :P

  14. You argued a point that wasn't being argued. Either that or you misunderstood what aj and I were debating over. That is a part of another debate entirely. Though it can be included in he is being a jerk I suppose. But yes, him keeping the secret from RAN has nothing to do with ego, but the FBI on the other hand.... He has no reason for keeping it from them. Also, there is a chance that telling Ran may PREVENT her from getting involved (but not worrying, she'll probably go crazy with worry unless the FBI gives her assurance), because then she'll know who to watch out for and to avoid them. There are three people that know not including his parents, Agasa, Ai and Heiji. Adding Ran to that list might not be a bad thing. If that loudmouth Heiji can keep a lid on it, surely Ran, the person whom he trusts the most, can as well. Though, as I said before, I never said that had anything to do with his ego. It is the fact that he is keeping it from the FBI that shows his big ego, because they can, are and want to help further. Not giving them vital information is BAD. There is only so much they can learn from Kir. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  15. You say that like its a bad thing.... Oh right, I should mention about religion and all these ghost stories.... They were made before the modern sciences. They were made to explain the unexplainable. Funny thing is that science has already explained a lot of what religion was designed to explain that was unable to be explained before
  16. Hey, if they can, they get a $1000000! But yeah, I have seen nothing in my life to make me believe in the supernatural. NOTHING. I've heard plenty of stories, but they were all anecdotal. That is the thing with ghost stories, they are ALWAYS that way. Think of it... if ghosts REALLY existed and were able to interact with the physical world, there would be EVIDENCE left behind. And despite what has been said before... Science IS everything, that is the POINT of science, to explain the physical world. And the fact that no supernatural claim has ever been able to pass all the tests of validity in over 30 years, says something. Ghosts existing is an oxymoron for those who are unaware. You cannot have something that doesn't exist in the physical world yet can interact with things in the physical world. IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY! Also... telling ghost stories and believing in them are totally different... Scaring people with stories is always fun! I've told a few ghost stories in my life, doesn't mean I believe any of them... And remember... when in doubt, apply Occam's Razor
  17. This is my final reply.... There is a difference between allowing people to help you and using people to meet your own ends. The only person that is actually helping him is Agasa. In other words, Agasa is the only person that knows the FULL story, and aids in his efforts and takes part in everything. Haibara and the FBI are being USED by Shinichi (though he has a valid reason as to why he is merely using Haibara and not telling her everything). Basically you cannot expect someone to help you if they don't know everything you know. And considering that Shinichi has access to Haibara and has NOT told the FBI about that means he has no intention of letting the FBI actually help him, because she would be a HUGE asset in bringing down the org to the FBI. And Agasa doesn't actually help in the field, he merely acts as Shinichi's Watson/Q. As for the "chilled" attitude, again, that is more out of fear than not wanting to. If he starts spouting his accomplishments the BO will notice, and then they'll figure it out and everyone is dead. Taking responsibility is a part of humility, yes, but it isn't all of it, and just because Shinichi feels responsible and feels bad that he is making Ran cry, does not make him humble in the slightest, because it is the choice HE made way back in the beginning. It is hard to place blame on someone else when you made the decision and that caused unforeseen negative consequences. And as I said before, his exorbitant amount of pride gets in the way of being humble. As for improving it? He has improved it up to a point, and then he shows you why he hasn't. It goes back and forth, and I doubt that he'll show any real improvement until the end of the series. For now he is the same egotistical jerk that he started out as that has just had a stopper put on his overflowing amount of ego in fear of people dying. And god forbid that he actually does have the key role in taking down the BO, because that will set his enormous ego permanently. It won't matter that in the course of the battle he almost died several times, because he would have beaten them.
  18. Oh god... This topic AGAIN?! -goes to DCTP to find same topic to prepare for arguments- No ghosts do not exist. People have tried and failed to prove the existence of ghosts too, since there is a million dollars riding on them proving it. Usually when people believe in ghosts they choose that explanation because it makes the most sense with the information they have, without looking for other possibilities. And yes, science has proven that people have "seen" ghosts, but not in the way believers think. It is psychological, not metaphysical (in other words, certain situations under high stress or other pressure can cause people to see things that are not there, especially if they already believe ghosts exist).
  19. ACK! I found an even BETTER MLP:FiM pic for my profile! I'll leave Rainbow Dash to you <3

  20. I've done analysis on Shinichi's character and lack of development too much to put it again here. Sufficed to say, he hasn't developed much. Desperate Revival wasn't too long ago either. You have to remember the plot cases and the filler cases are disjointed. That is why a year hasn't passed yet... But I'll sum it up, and it isn't that hard to do, but I won't go into detail. For a while, up to the Desperate Revival it looked like he was developing. However on the next return, it didn't look like he developed at all. The only pieces of humility were fleeting statements. That isn't true humility, and if you think that it is, then I have nothing to say. And vanity is a source of egotism. And that is proof that he is egotistical. You are right, he cannot do it, his parents PROVED this to him, and yet he STILL thinks he can do it on his own. That is CLEARLY egotism, especially after meeting people who can help him, he doesn't tell them a damn thing. And naturally he would take blame for Ran's tears, it IS his fault, that is not humility or lack or egotism, taking responsibility. Humility is the ABSENCE of pride. So the very fact that he has the sort of pride that he thinks that he can take down a multinational organization is pretty evident. He NEVER says that he isn't the greatest detective, but he never denies it either when someone claims that he is. A humble person would claim that there are those better.
  21. No... he is still the same more or less... Sure he has toned it down, but that is out of NECESSITY out of fear that people will die by the hands of the BO rather than personal change. You see this in the Desperate Revival arc where he forgets himself and showboats. He definitely does not have humility either. The only times he is at all shown having humility lately, in fact the only time, was in that case in that restaurant, because he didn't have the Osakan knowledge to solve the case on his own. And even then he tooted his own horn at the end because the ignorant Kogorou doesn't realize that Conan=Shinichi, and said that Shinichi wins because he was getting info second hand. Shinichi HAS NOT CHANGED! If he had a SHRED of humility, he would have told the FBI EVERYTHING. They cannot legally deport him and place him into protective custody, so unlike his father's plan it would not have impeded him in any way with Ran. And it would give them some information on the org, because then they would have SHERRY as well telling them information as well. Shinichi thinks he can take down the BO ON HIS OWN IN THE BODY OF A SEVEN YEAR OLD! How is that not egotistical and blatantly brash?
  22. Did anyone else predict the ending of Ep 5? And not care one bit because it was still enjoyable? Then again... if they DIDN'T do that, it wouldn't be MLP:FiM >_>... BTW... that was HUGE for Rarity.
  23. Around adults maybe... When he is with the DBoys and Haibara he is as arrogant as he is with Shinichi. Though with Haibara she has a knack for knocking his ego down a bit... He is just not obnoxiously egotistical as Conan...
  24. You would think that, and you would be wrong. The last two returns showed that he really hasn't changed. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
