  2. Autumn 2015 Season in Review! (listed in order of personal enjoyment) 1. One Punch Man It should be no surprise that this show would be at the top of my list when the season ended. This show has taken not only the anime world by storm but the entire world by storm. In fact, if it weren't for Undertale taking the title of "biggest underground to mainstream" jump of 2015, it may have been an even bigger success. The action and animation was absolutely fantastic and the soundtrack, one in particular, was amazing. There's not much to say about the plot (it doesn't waver much from the premise) and the characters as well as humor fall a bit flat for me, but the fight scenes are some of the best, if not the best in any anime ever. It's only 12 episodes, and it has such a wide range of appeal that I recommend it to anyone that hasn't already seen it. 2. Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider It's difficult to write a mystery nowadays that is able to provide any sense of surprise, since nearly every trick in the book has already been used. Despite that, The Perfect Insider did a fairly decent job of stringing together an 11-episode murder mystery. It's a bit convoluted and nothing about it was particularly surprising or amazing, but it was certainly different. The characters were interesting at first bet didn't really develop into anything special. The music was decent and the final episode was really nice. I'd usually be a bit more harsh with shows, but since this season was rather disappointing this anime was one of the better ones. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you were forced to watch something from this season that isn't OPM then this would be it. 3. Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou A lot of people overlooked this slice of life school parody of the successful Shingeki no Kyojin. I personally enjoyed it thoroughly. The humor is more hit than miss and this series poked a ton of fun at the original series. It covered a bit of the manga, so some of the referenced scenes have yet to be animated. As a result, I'll probably have to rewatch this after the second season airs. The soundtrack was mainly reused from the original anime, with a couple of new songs thrown in. The opening and ending themes are some of the best this season as well. I'd recommend this to anyone who's caught up with the manga. Those who have only watched the anime may want to hold off because of the implied and subtle spoilers, though there isn't really anything too bad. 4. Noragami Aragoto I'll be honest, I disliked the first season of this anime. The characters were the biggest problem and the uninspired plot was a close second. Thankfully, the second season fixed most of these problems. The biggest improvement was the plot. This time around it was a lot more focused and serious, as opposed to the forgetful mess in the first season. The characters were a bit better, though not by much. They weren't as irritating, since they didn't let their faults show through as often as they did in the first season, but there wasn't any development that I would have liked to see as well. The first arc of the second season was pretty solid, though it turned a bit sour in the second half. There's room for a third season, and I'll probably watch it. 5. Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru If The Perfect Insider was an example of a mystery anime that was handled relatively well, then Sakurako-san is an example of a mystery anime that didn't quite live up to expectations. The first two episodes were enjoyable and promising, though it quickly fell apart as the overarching pot unraveled. The characters remained stagnant and the anime started to focus less on telling solid mysteries and more on the story, which wasn't even very good. In fact, the anime ended on an unsatisfactory "read the source material" note, which only added to the bland taste. It could have been worse, but it could have been so much better as well. 6. Osomatsu-san This anime's first episode was so good. So so so so good. If you haven't already seen it, please take 24 minutes to watch it right now. As for the rest of the series, you're better off not watching. The humor usually falls flat, and for an episodic comedy anime that relies nearly exclusively on laughs, the fact that I hardly even chuckled outside of the first episode isn't a great case for this anime. The characters aren't enough to carry the show either. Aside from that, the music and animation are average. The anime technically isn't over yet (it's two-cour), but I doubt Osomatsu-san will be able to deliver a future episode as good as the first since they got into hot water for it. 7. Kagewani It may not look like it, but this show was pleasantly surprising. It's still low on my list because it's far from a good anime but it's a lot better than I initially considered it. It was mainly episodic up until the second to last episode, but once it hit its climax all of the small teases of plot scattered throughout the previous episodes came together into a surprisingly cohesive narrative. The final episode ended on a bit of a plot twist and cliffhanger, so there may be room for a second season. If there is one, I'll definitely watch it. On a side note, the soundtrack was pretty good and the ending theme, every time it kicked in at the end of each episode, was hype. I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone since it's still a bit of a drag, but if you choose to watch it anyway you could do a lot worse. 8. Komori-san wa Kotowarenai! Apart from each episode being hardly over a minute long each, there technically wasn't much wrong with this show. It was a simple slice of life that was more cute than funny. In fact, because it was so short, there was little room for anything to actually go wrong. There was no time to really make a judgement on the soundtrack and if there was a plot it was nearly impossible to follow. It's not good, but since all the episodes total together to less than a single regular episode, it's not exactly a time waster either. 9. Owari no Seraph: Nagoya Kessen-hen I don't know if I'll be giving this series another chance after this one. I already gave it a chance in choosing to watch the second cour of this split-cour show, and unfortunately the second half wasn't much better than the first. The plot is still as stupidly convoluted and uninspired, the characters are probably even worse than they were in the first half, and the animation isn't much improved. The music is cheesy and the direction isn't very impressive. I was hoping for some sort of closure, but there are still a lot of unresolved plot points and a third season is likely to happen in the near future. 10. Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou This anime had a lot of promise and threw it all away almost immediately. The story is focused too much on politics, and while that's not too bad if done right, it wasn't done right in this show. There was nothing special or impressive about the politics; if you're familiar with the turmoil of 1970s American then you pretty much have the general gist of it. The animation was atrocious, except for two instances, and every character is poorly written and easy to dislike. Each episode was a bore to watch and while it attempts to throw in grey morality, it does absolutely nothing to make me care about the world being developed. There's a second season coming up in April, and I'll give it a chance but my expectations are really really low. -- This upcoming year looks really promising, and it all starts with winter 2016. This is what I'll be watching next season, listed in order of most anticipated to least anticipated: 1. Boku dake ga Inai Machi 2. Ajin 3. Dimension W 4. Dagashi Kashi 5. Bubuki Buranki 6. Hai to Gensou no Grimgar 7. Haruchika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru 8. Sekkou Boys 9. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu 10. Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (TV) 2nd Season 11. Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri - Enryuu-hen
  3. 4 hours ain't too shabby doh
  4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens Literally just finished watching this a few hours ago, and I have to say it was pretty good. It's been a long time since I've watched a Star Wars movie, but even so this was definitely one of the better films. The CGI was much better, the action scenes were pretty solid, and John Williams did a fine job with the soundtrack. I really liked the new characters and feel that they add a lot to the franchise, more so than the characters that were introduced in the prequel trilogy. My biggest complaint was that the movie catered a bit too much to fans of the original trilogy and therefore felt somewhat unoriginal and predictable. Still, it was an enjoyable movie and I anticipate the eighth film in 2017.
  5. Working!!! Lord of the Takanashi (my thoughts on the series as a whole) So, the series that is Working has finally come to an end. It's been quite the ride, starting off with a first season that was rather bland and boring and building up toward a 50-minute long series finale that was everything I had hoped it would be and more. There's nothing too special about Working on the surface, but it's something that grows on you with time. Unlike most slice of life anime, there is an actual conclusion to the show. Characters bond, settle their differences, become friends, and fall in love. Watching Working was like starting your first day of school surrounded an odd-ball cast of your to-be friends. At first you think them weird and are unsure whether or not you'll get along, but by graduation time you're thinking back fondly on all the shenanigans you got yourselves into with those crazy groups of kids. Working was an adorable ride, and one of my favorite slice of life as well as romance shows. It takes time to warm up to, but it's worth it in the end.
  6. I watched Ant-Man and Wolf Children a couple days ago, both of which were very generic. Ant-Man had a lot of superhero tropes, a plot that was uninspired, and humor that was predictable. The action scenes were quite fun; not very creative or awe inspiring but still pretty fun. It's a fine watch if you're into Marvel, but since I'm not I really couldn't care less about the cameos and references. I wouldn't recommend it, but you could definitely do worse. Wolf Children wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped it would be, and is honestly my least favorite of Mamoru Hosoda's work. It's slow paced and a bit boring, even more so than 5 Centimeters Per Second and The Dog of Flanders. It wasn't nearly as emotional or dramatic as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time or Summer Wars either. It wasn't a bad movie (much like Ant-Man you could do a lot worse) but it's so bland and plays it so safe there's nothing about it I'll remember a few months from now.
  7. This may be bait, but I'll bite. It was posted literally three times across the last three pages of this thread, most recently at the very top of the page you posted on. -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0R_4HUvuUE This game is so weeb it hurts, but its theme song is catchy and I can't stop listening to it (somebody send help)
  8. What are seasons even, amirite?
  9. Yeah, and all of 'em sold things that cost $2 per unit; it was impossible to tell what Kirsch was talking about.
  10. Re-watched Interstellar, and it's a lot better the second time. Probably because I used subtitles this time and actually understood what they were mumbling about.
  11. YOU ALREADY POSTED THIS SONG RULE BREAKER ALERT WEEEOOOOWEEEEEOOOOOOO -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8mjRxkMBkE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neDTNYlEWIo
  12. Re-watched Clue after having not seen it for four years, and it's just as fun as I remembered it! As for first time watches... Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete This is the closest thing anime has to a mindless Hollywood flick. It's insane and ridiculous action scenes almost from the very start to the very end, with only a loose and somewhat nonsensical plot to tie it together. The CGI movie takes place after the events of the FFVII video game, though knowledge of the movie isn't technically necessary to enjoy the movie, as the opening narrative summarizes the game's events sufficiently. You'll most likely appreciate some of the subtleties more, in terms of soundtrack and characters, if you've played the games though. Speaking of characters, as someone who hasn't played the game, they were all one-dimensional and underdeveloped. Cloud's internal struggles were a bore and didn't make much sense, the villains were your standard action-flick baddies, and the supporting cast fit stereotypical molds. The plot, as I mentioned before, was a mess. It made sense and I followed it for the most part, but there were still a lot of plot holes and decisions and actions often felt random and without thought. However, despite all this, the action scenes were admittedly fantastic. The fights ranged from one-on-one sword/fist fights, chaotic group battles against monsters, and bike chases across freeway systems and cities; generally stuff you'd expect to find in an action film, but they were amazingly executed. The action scenes were fast, high-octane, exhilarating, and physics defying. Was it unrealistic? Entirely. Did it seem choreographed too well and character strengths and abilities never remained consistent? Definitely. But since the plot was a shot full of holes and the characters were a snorefest, the action scenes fit right in and managed to make the overall movie experience rather decent. This was far from a good movie, but it was fun and delivered exactly what I wanted: an exciting action film I can turn my mind off to and enjoy for its flashiness.

    Embarrassing Things

You're in luck, because guys aren't supposed to wear those anyway......
  14. "Eggs on steroids", obviously. Kirsch is just expressing her concern over how cheaply they're selling their eggs for; clearly, she's worried about the profitability of their business. (But seriously dude, Google is just a few clicks away. I'm sure it would have been both easier and faster to look it up yourself than it would be to wait for a reply, which you still have yet to receive.)

  20. There's no rule against posting non-holiday songs technically, so yeah. -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY-XDQN6ipE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtszN3TkQsI WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THESE NOSTALGIC CHRISTMAS SONGS THAT ORIGINATE FROM ANIMATIONS??

    Taste Closed

There's this short but pretty good Detective Conan abridged series that was made recently. I don't take any credit for these two videos; found them on reddit. Please support the original creator if you like what you see! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fh2u8gXX24U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZpt-NnPpik
  22. Congratulations Kirsch, you've ruined pizza! First the Hawaiians, and now you!
