  1. Another special round will be coming up soon and it will take place during the summer. Details sparse. Stay in touch!
  2. I can no longer see the report button. Also, two more spammers on the Introduce Yourself board.

  3. I may join; it's been a while since I've actually participated in a round.
  4. Out of curiosity, why don't you host one then?
  5. Oh wow, guess who's still here. :V

Perhaps. It's getting rather lonely here.

    3. Rukia Kurosaki

      Rukia Kurosaki

True. A bit empty what with all the maintenance and member inactivity.

I'll probably stick around, just a little longer, and see what happens.

  6. List of the next moderators for DCW IRL: 14) mian cai 15) ????? 16) ????? DCW IRL is currently undergoing a few changes. While I work a few things out, please PM all moderator requests to me, not IdentityUnknown. They will not process if you do; IdentityUnknown will not be active enough to forward them to me.
  7. Some unfortunate news came to my attention during the start of this month, and I figure it's a good time to make it public, with the forums back up. IdentityUnknown will be officially stepping down from DCW IRL moderation. She was one of the original DCW IRL RPers and the person that pretty much started this entire thing, and I'm sad to see her leave. She has entrusted me with the entire DCW IRL operation, and I'll try to manage it the best I can, even with my hectic schedule. Any PMs regarding DCW IRL should now be directed to me, as IdentityUnknown will no longer be online as frequent as before. All moderator requests for future rounds, naturally, should also come to me. I'll figure out something regarding the Moderator Signup Thread and Discussion Thread, as IU holds both opening posts and I can't edit those. IdentityUnknown will remain affiliated with the DCW IRL project as a more advisor-type role, and should she ever wish to rejoin I will gladly welcome her. Until she confirms this, however, I will remove her from the official list of moderators. I would also like to take this moment to ask the community a serious question: is DCW IRL headed the correct direction? I've seen a steady decline of activity since the beginning of DCW IRL and its earlier rounds, and I want to make DCW IRL a success. Please reply with any comments and suggestions you may have through this topic and PM. Thanks so much! Mohorovicic
  8. Apparently, Disco-niichan is a nickname for me. I'll just put this out there that I don't approve of the nickname. Plus, I'm a little bit immature to be called a niichan, thank you.

    Flappy Bird

There is absolutely nothing original about this game. The sprites are ripped. The concept is ripped. I don't understand its popularity. It's a terrible, terrible game. However, I look forward to the creator's new games.
  10. The third one, which uses a comma to link two independent clauses, is a comma splice, and is a grammar no-no. Though most native English speakers won't notice, when reading a part with a comma splice it often looks a bit "choppy", I guess. On the subject of ellipsis, I'm of the opinion that ellipsis weaken writing and makes it sound less sure. I really can't think of many places where I would use an ellipsis over the vastly superior semi-colon and the more specialized but still effective colon. However, I note that ellipsis can add a natural flow to a sentence that colons tend to break up, but not significantly; the only place where I would use this to my advantage is undoubtedly in character dialogue. Even then, the added flow that an ellipsis brings can also make the writing start to blob together and lack a coherent structure, which is a negative trait in its own right. The link MadelineLime put up earlier puts it extremely well. In essence, the main use of ellipsis in formal writing is to denote that a quotation has changed. But please don't use ellipsis to cut out portions of a quote that are unfavorable to your point. That can be seen as warping the facts and that is a really bad thing. As previously mentioned, I take a very conservative approach to using ellipsis, and especially in formal writing. I would advise not using ellipsis outside of quotes when possible.
  11. I'm sure you guys may have seen this coming, but I'm going to bring this round to a close. Sorry, but this round has gone on way too long and most of the people have gone inactive.
  12. I was going to post that the errors have subsided but I just got one. It's been much better, so I'll leave it up to all you guys whether to continue.
  13. I watched K-ON several years ago and I still remember it as a remarkable experience. If that's not memorable I really don't know what is. It's a combination of the stellar soundtrack and "puni plush" animation. It's a remarkable combination. Kino's Journey - sentimental Kokoro Connect - physiological Madoka - magical girl (and everything else) K-ON - slice of life
  14. They're examples of the tops in their respective categories.
  15. How could Baccano be the best anime if that spot is already occupied? Baccano is out of league compared to Madoka, Kino's Journey, and even Kokoro Connect and K-ON.
  16. In short, copyright issues. See this topic for more information.
  17. Happy hiatus guys! I'm going to be putting this round on hold for a little bit due to issues with the site. Thanks!
  18. Strange, couldn't find the report button. Anyways, check this topic out for me, will you? http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/forum/topic/4952-ghoso-boys/

  19. Way too confusing, and too contradictory. I will retcon this post out of existence. Thank you.
  20. I've always got math problems ready, so if you want me to post one I'll gladly.
  21. "Aw, that makes me feel angry. Human swine like you have no right to look down on me like that!" Aero's mechanical arm began to twist upward, then what appeared to be a fist clenched. When she clenched her fist, a yellow energy wave emitted throughout the Rift, and you found as the energy wave touched your weapons, they shattered into unusable pieces. "Tear my organs? Huh?!" In a nearly untraceable move, Aero suddenly appeared right in front of Hesh and used her mechanical arm and slammed into him, sending him flying. Then she drove her mechanical arm into the ground, causing metal spires to come up from the ground. Some of you managed to dodge the spires, but others got impaled by the incoming spires. All the spires then suddenly vanished into nothing, leaving only wounds behind, and Aero pulled her mechanical arm out of the ground. "Is that all you got?! Just because you beat Moto doesn't mean s**t! I am nothing like Moto! I'm no cheap rabbit-hat magician! I'm the embodiment of chaos itself!" She pointed at Joshua with her regular arm. "Look at him! Always hiding behind weak humans and taking all the glory of their labor! Don't you realize what's going on?! The angels are all corrupt, all high and mighty. Why bother helping him, he's leaving you to die!" While you were stunned by the magnitude of her words, Aero jumped up in the sky. Her mechanical arm pointing straight downward, she laid a devastating blow on Joshua. When she landed and her fist returned to her side, Joshua disappeared. "Psych. I'm not like SAISEI. I can't manipulate people as easy as he does. But that wasn't so hard, was it?"
  22. Joshua shook his head. "The only way to reopen the World's Gate after collapsing it is to summon the One, from all three personalities, and utilize its power to force a new path from the Gate. Which is, of course, impossible. Not just for humans, but for angels as well. And I'm pretty sure SAISEI couldn't open it back up either if he wanted to. So we're stuck here." "Well, that's sad, now isn't it?" When you turned to the source of the new voice, you realized it was Aero. She had a wide smirk on her face. "What are you doing here?" Joshua asked. His expression was completely neutral. Aero shrugged. "Bored out of my mind. SAISEI took all the armies and led them into the various worlds. Once the rest of humanity is crushed, we'll move onto the angels. But right now, I have nothing to do, you know? Since the universe is coming to an end soon, why don't you all try to fight me?" Her mechanical arm began to whir and spin. "Hey, did you know? I can open up holes in the Rift that lead to the outside world. So...if you beat me, I'll let you leave this place, not that you'll stop SAISEI anyway." Her words charged you with energy. A way to exit the Rift had shown itself. But you also felt a tinge of vengeance. This Jaeger was special: she killed Alita without any mercy. It's time to reciprocate, you believe. "Ah! You're all ready. Show me what you all got, swine." Her eyes closed and she began to chant a series of words that seemed to hold significant weight. "I am Aero, Curse of the Twelve, Born from Chaos, and the Signal of the End!" With each word, she seemed to gain more power, and she began to glow. Her mechanical arm began to turn from a rusty gray to a shining gold. Joshua showed little reaction from her power surge, only noting, "You expect me to reveal my title in return? That won't be necessary. These humans will deal with you without me needing to interfere." ===================================== Objective: Escape the Rift Aero has awakened into her true form with the declaration of her title. She will likely be several times stronger than Moto ever dreamed of being. So...good luck, I guess? For reference, the longer the title, the stronger the entity. Joshua's title is quite long, and so is SAISEI's. Aero's title is far more moderate in length, but she is still a powerful entity. For comparison, Moto's title is Warped Warrior. I would imagine that a title can get longer as the individual gets stronger and obtains a stronger identity. Oh, and a regular human has a title so short that it's literally useless.
  23. "Get out? There is no longer a way out," Joshua commented. You turned to look at him, shocked at this statement. "The last exit out of the Rift has been closed for good with the rise of SAISEI. The World's Gate has closed." He raised a single hand. Despite his shaken appearance, he still emitted a sense of leadership. "The World's Gate - a passageway originally used by the One back when all existence was still unified. Now that SAISEI has risen once more, he has likely collapsed the World's Gate to prevent any of us from escaping. There is no longer any other escape route we can use to leave the Rift." "My original plan was merely to take you through the World's Gate. However, the World's Gate had a toll that must be paid to enter. Like how entering the Rift results in the loss of your memories, the World's Gate takes away your memories. It was the least I could do to protect humans from the Rift. And memories of the Rift - that's a dangerous possession. It would be best if you lost those anyway."
