  1. Reviews say that the second movie is horrible compared to the first; that there is not as much of a mystery, and how Robert Downey Jr. pronounced some words differently than usual. I disagree with these reviews. I own the first movie, but I went to see the sequel twice. The first movie, I would rate about 8.5/10, but the second easily gets a 9.5/10, only because I wanted Holmes' quote to Moriarty: "If I could be assured of your complete and total demise, I would, in the interest of the public, gladly accept my own." (Not exactly accurate, but that's the gist). I cannot wait to purchase this on DVD (I won't buy blu-ray discs until DVDs are outmoded). I do love the climax and ending. I don't know how to use the "spoiler" thing, so...
  2. I agree with you. I thought Robert Downey Jr. portrayed Holmes very well. I recall people saying around the release of the first movie of his that "He's nothing like Holmes! Holmes didn't wrestle shirtless!" I replied with "He was skilled in baritsu, Japanese-style wrestling..." then ranted about how much more accurate his character is than the public belief. While he fits the role well, I don't like the Sherlock in the TV series. I think his eyes are a little too far apart (not trying to be mean, but that trait tends to make people look less-intelligent, though he could be pulling off a "Columbo"). He plays the role well, but for some reason, I just don't like him. He makes me dislike the character more than I should (I love people who are not mentally the same as the rest of society; the reason I loved SH2: GOS). Sorry for the wall-of-text, but I wanted to insert my two cents.
  3. In Theaters: "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" (2nd time) (Best. Movie. Ever.) Not in Theaters: "Case Closed: The Phantom of Baker Street" And some people are talking about television shows, so: Television: "Sherlock" (BBC)(Via Netflix)

  5. Just got "Case Closed, Volume 41" from the local bookstore today. Now I've got to wait until April for Volume 42...

  6. As of Wednesday, a friend of mine found some issues while on Facebook. A second person with the same name, interests, and even photos had created an account, and had been posing as him for over a week. He had made friends with all of the original's friends, and had successfully fooled each one into believing that he was the real one. In fact, some of the friends un-friended the real one. After a little investigating, my friend found out how to prove he was the real one; he found on the imposter's wall that the account had been made a week ago, as opposed to his aged account. After sending a message to the imposter, the account mysteriously vanished... or so we had thought. To my surprise, I found a "Kaitou Kid" on my friends' list for the first time after the account supposedly disappeared. This imposter made the mistake of not clearing his friends list before changing his name back to Kaitou Kid. Or was it intentional? At any rate, he soon disappeared from my list. This happened one other time to another friend (this one being the friend of a friend of a friend [and so on]). It came and concluded in the same manner. I wonder if this "Kaitou Kid" is trying to advertise for Detective Conan? Or perhaps a die-hard can wanted to cause some excitement. Wouldn't it be hillarious if it turned out to be Aoyama himself? Post what you think!
  7. Alright. I'm not so sure why (most) everyone is bagging on the live action movies. Sure, the acting is awkward, but I see that in a lot of Japanese live-action movies (like Death Note and such). I think that's the best they can do acting-wise. My only objection is that Ran and Shinichi are too close. I mean, the most fun part of being an otaku is wondering how Character A and Character B come together. That leaves it up to our imagination. They're supposed to fight so you can say: "You idiot! Don't say that! If I were you..." But the producers of this show make it too easy for the characters. But I think the plots of the first two live-action movies (I haven't seen the third) were pretty decent. "A good conversational piece," as my favorite character Haibara Ai would say.

  9. An expression that says "...Don't tell me you forgot the instant-noodles, pal..."

  10. Yes, it is indeed quite lonely here. And I believe I understand what you mean when you say that detective games don't usually work. And I agree with statements stating that games like this are nothing more than an intellectually interactive graphic-novel. However, I enjoy it, and so do many other otakus. In fact, it's been reported multiple times that we've re-played through the game and still thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, your opinion is your opinion. I'm in no place to argue, and I'm certainly not trying to be rude. After all, in a court of law, the judge should not pass judgement until every stone is turned and every testimony is cross-examined. I rest my case.
  11. A mobile-compatable DC World. Nowadays, a lot of people have these web-browsing phones and iPods, so why not make a m.detectiveconanworld.com? And once the videos come back, videos could be put into a format that allows viewing on ipods/pads/phones, and other mobile devices. I'm aware that it's easier said than done, but I'm just throwing this on the table.
  12. Hello! Thanks for the add! I hope we can be good friends!

  13. I saw this game on the Wii shop channel, and I never looked back. I've played through all except the Miles Edgeworth game (which I'm in Turnabout Reminiscence now). I looked it up on the threads, and the most I found was someone mentioning that they listened to its soundtrack recently. I figured; why not influence DC fans into the courtroom? I'm planning to go to Law school after college and become a prosecutor in criminal court (no, not food court). This will serve as a fan club type thing, so feel free to talk about favorite characters, cases, etc. My Favorite character is Godot from Trials and Tribulations (The Third game. I love coffee, I wanna be a prosecutor, and I'm a Holmes fan (I say this because he quotes Holmes on multiple occasions). I laugh at every pun he makes, even if it's not funny, because he has the same train of thought I do. My favorite case, from all of the games, is the final case of T&T (No spoilers) If I could Kill off any characters from the game...: Jean Armstrong Wendy Oldbag (She wasn't bad at first, but (spoiler, kinda) you see her in three cases in the Gyakuten series. Spark Brushel (From Apollo Justice) Redd White April May Payne (Bad hair and annoying voice) Bikini (From final case of T&T. Always laughing!) Max Galactica (Billy Bob Johns) Apollo Justice (His expressions kill me, and NO ONE can replace Phoenix Wright!) If you have any other discussions than what I've given, feel free to chat about. Spread the word, and maybe one day, more PW threads will be on DC World!
  14. Haha! About five minutes in, you say "Well, I don't know what an eleven year-old is doing watching a show about people being killed". What's funny is I got into DC when I was 9, and I was eleven not long ago. I hope I'm not treated any differently (that's why I left another DC site in the past) when I say I just became thirteen in late August. Nah, I'm not insulted about it all, but I thought it was kind of funny...
  15. * = "I'm Guilty of this" You know when you're addicted to DC* when... Your friends are scared of you because you know techniques used by murderers in DC* They're also afraid that you learned "Potassium cyanide destroys the electron transport system in the body's cells, so blood continues to circulate without its oxygen being used" from the chapter about Ran's school play.* When you saw "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" on the Wii shop channel and bought all 3 instantly.* When you play through every game in that series without a walkthrough. When you make deductions that scare your friends* When you're REALLY ticked about how they never released the promised Case Closed game in the US* When you read Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie's work and understand it.* When you solve the cases before Holmes or Poirot* When you want to grow up and deal justice on a steaming platter* When you dress like Yuusaku Kudo, with the fedora and the suit* When your style of drawing is like Aoyama's* When you step onto a crime scene to investigate, but get arrested instead. When you post in this topic & forum* When you eat the same Japanese foods you've seen the DC characters consume* When you spend hours searching the internet to learn the properties of a poison* When you write murder-mysteries* When you constantly say: "I see the youth of today, I suddenly see hope for the future die" (Haibara Quote)* When you talk people (Friends and enemies) out of suicide or violence by quoting Kudo* When you make quotes you could imagine DC characters saying in your free time.* EX: "Suicide is selfish. Because YOU can't handle the same plight as everyone else, you throw your pains onto those close to you by leaving the world. People need you, whether or not anyone notices, and that should be enough to get you by, right?" When you learn all DC songs... by ear* When you own every dubbed movie on DVD When you own all English manga When you spend hours trying to find the cheap "Case Closed" keychain
  16. Hey, I"m guilty of that. (I write mystery-court dramas in my free time. It's really fun.)
  17. I like the podcast so far. I read 745 while listening, and I hope you continue. A little feedback: There were a few "um"s and coughs, but it isn't gonna kill anyone. Another thing is that I don't hear an accent. You speak pretty clearly, and that's good. Also, now that i've heard the podcast, the IRC seems more interesting. I think the problem was that a few people hadn't ever heard of it, and people tend to not like what they don't know. And about movie 14, no, I"m not going to ask "when's it gonna come out?", but I'm not the most excited about it. I mean, I got worked up about movie 13, but then was a little disappointed, for it lacked something. I'm going off topic, but to wrap it up, I enjoy listening to the podcast, and I hope you continue in the near future!
  18. By the way, MasterVaati is my other username. That was my old one, and I can't change it. If you ever want proof, send me a picture, and I'll make it my profile pic, but I can hope you can all just trust me.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWHJSW_Osqk Have you ever had one of those crazy dreams? Well, I was up past midnight one night, just reading Detective Conan, and the next second, I saw THIS VIDEO in my dreams. I heard "Scatman" playing to Conan's dance, and he danced to tempo. I wondered if the tempo was actually right, so I took four hours trying to find the video clippings for the 8th Conan opening "Koi Wa, Thrill, Shock, Suspense". Once I found it, it took about a half an hour to get the video together with my slow computer. I hope you get as much of a kick out of this as I did. That dance just stood out to me from that opening...
  20. You know the manga "Magic Kaito"? Know that jewel that cries and brings eternal youth? And remember than man in black who was chasing Kaito after that jewel? He looked a LOT like that BO agent from that suitcase-bombing case where Conan went to the game company place. I think there was a time Vermouth had that jewel, and she drank the tear of the jewel. Remember that Magic Kaito is Aoyama's creation, and he's already brought over MK characters. Put one and one together!
  21. Anyone ever notice how similar Gumshoe and Richard/Kogorou are? (Comparison using english names) (Made the pic myself. Haha,Imma genuis) Name: Same (Dick is a nickname for 'Richard') Occupation: Same (For the most part) Hair: Same (When Richard's drunk, his hair looks like Gumshoe's) Facial Hair: Stubby beard Deduction Skills: Same (Explanation needed?) Results: Match Found I started playing the Phoenix Wright games a few months ago. Whenever I see Gumshoe, I can't help but think of Richard. Anyone else notice this?
  22. No, I mean to have two seperate pages, so people don't have to switch to the other. It'd give a good variety of choices to site viewers.
