  2. A fter school,Conan sat with Haibara on Agasa Hakase's couch, losing at a game the professor had invented. When Haibara was declared winner yet again he gave up and tossed the controller at the TV. He then dug through the pile of letters addressed to Kudou Shinichi on the coffee table, searching for some fan mail to console himself with. One of the envelopes was different. It had no return address and was carelessly torn where the sender had resealed it. Still annoyed about losing the videogame, Conan tore the letter open and pulled out a sheet of ragged paper. "Looks like it's been through Hell and back," he muttered."Kind of like you," Haibara chuckled half-jokingly. Then he read it aloud. "To the worthless detective who can't deduce what matters. I will steal what is most precious to you in the World. Await my challenge." There was no signature, but the handwriting would be easy to recognize if he saw it again. Sighing at what he had deemed an imitation, Conan got up to leave and -slipping the letter in his pocket- started his walk back to the Detective Agency. "Oji-san!" he called as he entered the room. Hearing no reply, Conan looked through the house, but Mouri-san wasn't there. Then he saw a note atop Kogoro's desk. "Dear Ran - And brat - I recieved a request today and will not be home until after dinner. Save me something. ~Meitantei, Mouri Kogoro-san~" Conan laughed to himself. He announces himself as a famous detective in notes to his daughter? he thought. The empty house was kind of creepy when he was alone, and Ran was going shopping after she came home and dropped off her backpack, so Conan decided to wander around and look for something interesting to do. But after ambling about for an hour he'd only found a couple of stray cats and an abandoned house that didn't look haunted and wasn't available as a hideout for thieves on the run. As I expected, he thought. And why do I keep thinking like them? -pictures Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta- "Thieves? Honestly," he muttered. "A detective needs a more stimulating challenge than finding hiding spots for cats." At this he retrieved the letter from his pocket, studying the text slowly. It still seemed like a prank to him. Then he felt something soft brush against his leg, and he leaped a few feet. It's just a cat, he told himself. But there was a collar around the cat's neck, attached to which was a small piece of notebook paper. Written in red ink by the same person who sent the challenge was, "I have stolen your most precious belonging. Your time limit to find me before I destroy it is 9:00 tonight." The cat ran off before he could read its tags, and the note said that his most prcious belonging had been stolen. Conan almost laughed. Almost, because at that moment he saw Kogoro, who had said he was on a case, run past. "Oi, Oji-san," he shouted. "What's the matter?" Out of breath but still running, Kogoro replied, "The Suzuki girl just called me. Ran disappeared." Conan thought for a moment, then decided that the letter and Ran's disappearance weren't connected in any way...
  3. Anything that can invoke emotion. From DC, it's Osenchi Na Ayumi and Tomorrow is the Last Time.
  4. Grey. It makes a good name. Play sad music on a happy occasion or happy music on a sad one?
  5. It's not a fanfic. It is a section of a book I'm working on. It's a mystery as tribute to Detective Conan. Thanks for looking at it.
  6. I'd probably write my own ending. Or a hundred possible endings. Then I'd watch every episode again, twice. (Just for the heck of it) Then I'd ask the producers WTH was going on. :-D
  7. Hey. If you have time please read my preview of Never Forgotten in stories and tell me what you think. I needz opinions so I can fix it up for the publisher.

  8. First off, GAH! I spent like an hour writing this and my computer sucks so of course it messed up right when I was about to finish. So now I am writing it again, but I can't remember everything...... A scene from the chapter: The Link Standing alone at the crime scene, Rin forced herself to study the lifeless form on the oak floor before her; It was Hinari Kyoko, the girl she'd met only hours before. Grimacing at the wound that had killed the girl, she remembered something Shinji had asked her on the day he was killed. Seiji and his sister Kira, Minoru, and Mura had all gone to the Haunted House at the theme park they'd been visiting. Shinji, seemingly deep in thought about the 14 gang's latest murders, had stayed behind with Rin, who had refused to set foot in the place. Apparently he knew why she'd remained outside, because he inquired, "Why did you become a detective if you hate blood?" Rin smiled an ironic, half-smile, and stared down at the table, remembering Suki's death. "I need to solve murders in order to punish those who spill blood. Also, by doing so, I can prevent other deaths and comfort the loved ones of those whose lives ended in pain." At Shinji's silence she glanced up to see him grinning from ear to ear. "You know, you're so sentimental. That along with your huge green eyes makes you seem like a girl sometimes," he laughed. But Rin couldn't remember what he'd said after that, and she shook her head, clearing her thoughts. Surveying the scene, she noticed the blue vase that sat on a chest-of-drawers against the wall near the body. It held a single black rose, beside which sat a notecard with smudged writing on it. Rin read it aloud. "This flower symbolizes my feelings about your kind. You are # 3." There was no signature, but Rin knew who had written it; the same one who'd sent Mikazuki Sakura and Ruuki Hina black roses and killed them only days later. In fact, she had known who murdered the girl the moment she saw the body; The woman had reddish-orange hair and sky-blue eyes, just like the two other victims. And like Suki, she thought. But the man who'd killed Suki couldn't have done this. She never got a warning, and there is no reason to kill once and wait two years to do it again. But the resemblance bothered her, likely because of Kira. Although two years older than her twin would ever be, she looked remarkably similar to the girl Rin had known her whole life, and looking at the body, she was reminded that anyone could be killed at any time. With this thought lingering in her mind, Rin recalled something one of her suspects had said about a picture they were shown of the first victim. It reminded them of a friend from Middle School. But none of the victims were at an age where they would have met that person in class. 'Middle School," she muttered. Then the murderer is Donnsuke Liu? But he has an alibi. He's been at the mall with..." She trailed off as she realized why three roses had been sent to Mikazuki-san, two to Ruuki-san, and one to Hinari-san, who were all killed. There's another one... she thought, and stopped cold. Rin whipped out her cell phone, dialing Seiji's number. She sprinted to the parking lot as the phone rang, hurriedly starting her rental car and driving toward where she knew the killer would be. By the time her classmate answered his phone, Rin's throat burned, and she had to calm herself before choking out, "Get to the mall now! Your sister is a target!" When she finally parked and practically leapt from the car, Rin muttered, "Damn. If Kira gets even one scratch..." She curled her right hand into a fist, bolting through the entrance and heading straight to the cafe area with fountains, Kira's favorite place. Already there and hidden from Kira's view, Mura, Seiji, and Minoru stood watching the two figures who sat chatting amiably at a nearby table. The lanky teen with a black ponytail was definitely Donnsuke. Rin joined them for a moment to whisper one thing to Seiji. "Don't worry." Then she stepped out from the cover of the advertisements, hoping Liu didn't know she'd figured everything out. "Hey, Kira!" she called, earning a terrified glance from Seiji and a frown from Donnsuke-san. "Shinichi-sama,? What are you doing here?" Kira replied. Rin approached their table, staying at a distance Liu seemed comfortable with, and lied. "This case is impossible, so I thought I'd come hang out with you guys and quit worrying about it." Liu now seemed to understand Rin's intentions, and stood, dragging Kira up with him, Before she could fight back he curled an arm around her throat, lifting her up slightly. Everyone who could see or hear the situation stayed far back, shocked. "Well, detective, I think you know what will happen if you move," he chuckled. Rin sighed and whispered, "It doesn't matter what Suki did for you in the past. Her death wasn't the fault of the girls you killed, and definitely of the one you won't be allowed to harm."Kira breathed in sharply as she realized what Rin had said. "You're a murderer," she breathed. Liu's smirk faded and he shouted, "They all should have died instead of Amari Suki-san. Those people who remind me she's gone..." Clenching his fist tightly, the teen added, "Screw this," and spun Kira to face him, still limiting her movement. His fist flashed toward Kira, and Rin had less than a second to think before she ran forward. Her only thought was, I have to protect her.
