  1. Hey, you know what would be a great idea? Instead of whining about how this place isn't as active as you wish it was, why not think of new topics of discussion for folks to participate in?

  2. Life is like a race. What matters is not whether you have a headstart, but rather if you reach the finish line. If you get tired, keep running. Don't quit or drop out. Convince yourself that there are better things up ahead, better things in store for you. Think about your friends' reactions when they find out that you've won the race. Picture the Trophy that you'll hold, the awards you'll receive. Winners don't quit. Don't give up. ~Me (Paraphrased from lots of sources)

  4. So... Uhm... Well, everyone's been asking why I've been upset. This is the reason why... Someone in my school... Committed suicide. I have no idea why but... She was two years older than me, and she'll be greatly missed. The whole school has fallen into depression because of this... I didn't know her, but I know her sister... It's... *sigh* Anyway, I wrote something for her. It's a small poem, but... Her initials were JR. Why? Why would you do something like this? Did you know? Did you know it would hurt? Hurt... Everybody? I wish... That you could see the people. The people crying... For you. The people hugging... For you. If you didn't think anyone cared, you were wrong. These people care... For you. They miss... You. If only you could come back. All of these people... Need you. The hearts dancing along the walls Colorful, bright, beautiful Like you. Rest in peace... Please. I didn't know you, JR, but I'm sure you were an incredible person. If you're wondering what the hearts are about, it's that... Well, some people cut out hundreds of colorful hearts and put them up all along the walls and lockers of the main hallway in school. It was dazzling... Thank you for taking your time to read this... And let all of our wishes go with JR.

Had a lot more time back then...I miss it. I miss it a lot. I think...I had a lot more trust back then as well. *sighs* *hugs self*

  12. Aoko/Akemi: Remember what I told you in your introduction thread about your thin leash? Cut the crap out and quit lying to everyone in here, or else you're not going to have a long stay at this forum. If you try this again you will be banned. There are folks on this board, Kyuu and myself specifically, who know more about you than other people at this board. We will tell other members when you try to scam them by claiming to be things that you're not. I would suggest that if you want to stay on here that you quit the act, or else you're not going to be around here all that much longer.

  13. Sure you are... You just can't give away anything. Just like every other english based DC forum, it is understood that people who watch raws (or horrible subs on a cam) before the official release of DCTP (or other major DC subbing group, which as far as I know DCTP is the only one left who is actively doing new eps and movies), it is considered a spoiler. If it is legitimately your favorite movie that you saw, then that is it. But keep your reasons as vague as possible (IE I liked the plot, had some good comedy ect ect)

  14. Awesome! I'm an exception! Btw... most people don't know .0000000001% of science (some even less), so don't sell yourself short. And for someone who is only a freshman, you are pretty knowledgeable. It is called Quantum physics, not atomic btw. That is the name for physics at the atomic and subatomic level. That said, I'm not even entirely sure that Quantum physicists know what the hell they are talking about at times. Quantum mechanics is an insane subject and it is deep and expansive, mainly because it can be applied to the entire universe, and not just larger objects like physics. In fact, quantum physics effects regular physics, because when something is discovered or theorized that proves to be true (ie Einstein's theory of relativity) it can effect everything, which is why Einstein's theory is more generally accepted than say Newton's laws. Newton's laws are more generally taught in non-science fields because chances are, if you aren't going into science, you aren't going to need quantum physics to quantify gravitational pull or the velocity of a subatomic particle. Hell, I had to learn it too, and I doubt I'm going to use much of it going into Molecular Biology... As for the models thing... I think the Bohr model has persisted as long as it has is because it is easier to conceptualize and understand without an in depth level of understanding. HOWEVER! You gave misinformation... I assume when he said "2,8,8,8" he was referring to the numbers on the periodic table. If that is so, then that has NOTHING to do with the shell model, but everything to do with the orbital model, because those are the number of electrons in a given orbital. And that is important to know because knowing those dictates how electrons move and how electrons transfer energy between excited and ground states. I do not like that analogy...Mainly because the energy dissipates in your room and never moves back to a ground state. To explain it best, you have to understand that electrons don't move completely random, nor in a set path. This is important because electrons tend to like to travel in pairs in their orbitals, but prefer to have at least one electron in each space in that set orbital. The orbitals are s, p, d, f. (there are more, but those 4 cover most of the possibilities) Before the p orbital can be used, there need to be 2 electrons in the s1 orbital, and 2 in the s2 orbital... before d can be used there need to be 2 electrons in the s1 orbital, 2 electrons in the s2 orbital, and 6 electrons in the p1 orbital... And so on. As you continue on it gets a bit more complicated. Now why the room scenario doesn't work... The room scenario doesn't account for excited state... The natural orbital of an electron is considered the ground state. When energy is applied it moves up to a higher orbital position. THAT is the particular reason why the Bohr model has remained relevant, and is continued to be taught is because it easily and effectively shows the transition between ground and excited states. I won't get into it much further because then it starts delving into Quantum Chemistry, which I don't want to do...

  15. This one is finished! (yay~) although, I couldn't draw Ran... (-.-) she's too... idk I just can't draw her... His eyes are wrong by the way. and, as always, creases are horrible. This only took an hour. plus extra 20 min or so because I fixed some parts when I was shading.. If anyone noticed, this is my avatar/Profile pic. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is actually for Cure-kun... well.... if he sees it that is.... (His b-day is 9/28... same goes for me lol.) Since I might not be on that day, Happy Birthday to Cure-kun! >W< I'm planning to add something in this.... but it will take so long time... This took me like 2 days to finish the sketch. Yes. the sketch itself. ....Shading took less than 10 mins. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Still working on it. and I really can't draw Kazuha... (-.-) The Western Couple Staring contest!!!.... or not. She look like she have Hydrocephali(? can't spell.)... ...and don't even mention about her ponytail... Heiji came out fine.... sorta... I just have to shade in.. For sketching, Kazuha took 2 hours and Heiji took about 1 hour and 30 mins.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *^^* Thank you all for commenting on my previous drawings~!

  16. Coffins used to be built with holes in them, attached to six feet of copper tubing and a bell. The tubing would allow air for victims buried under the mistaken impression that they were dead. In a certain small town, Harold, the local gravedigger, upon hearing a bell one night, went to go see if it was children pretending to be spirits. Sometimes it was also the wind. This time, it wasn't either. A voice from below begged and pleaded to be unburied. "Are you Sarah O'Bannon?" Harold asked. "Yes!" The muffled voice asserted. "You were born on September 17, 1827?" "Yes!" "The gravestone here says you died on February 20, 1857." "No, I'm alive, it was a mistake! Dig me up, set me free!" "Sorry about this, ma'am," Harold said, stepping on the bell to silence it and plugging up the copper tube with dirt. "But this is August. Whatever you are down there, you sure as hell ain't alive no more, and you ain't comin' up." _________________________________________________________________ You could kick yourself. Its the middle of the night-or early in the morning, depending on how you look at it — and freezing cold: because you, like an idiot, kicked off your blanket in the night. Nearly entirely off the bed, in fact, with only one lonely corner clinging to the edge of the bed. Sitting up you take it in your hands, feeling that familiar fear from your childhood; that if you don’t find something to cover yourself up, you are leaving yourself open to all sorts of supernatural horrors. You shrug it off with a chuckle and give the blanket a good hard tug, trying to pull it all up with one go. No luck. It seems to be stuck. Another sharp pull seems to free it a bit, and you work, tugging it back up and trying to ignore that silly feeling of growing dread. Tug. Tug tug tug…. There! Finally! The blanket is mostly back up on the bed and you are safely beneath it once more, teasing yourself mentally for getting all worked up over nothing. Until, just before you drift back asleep, you feel a tug from that one side still dangling down from where it had fallen before. Tug tug tug. _____________________________________________________________________ A beautiful 8 year old girl, Izzy, got this adorable china doll for her birthday. She called her Sam. One day Izzy was playing with her doll until her mom called her for bed. Izzy put the doll in the basement and went up to bed. In the middle of the night she heard weird noises. Then she heard “China doll, china doll in the basement, china doll, china doll on the stairs, china doll, china doll in your parents room, now they're dead.” Izzy fell back into a troubled sleep. In the morning she raced to her parents room, and they were dead. She cried as her brother planned the funeral. Izzy did not play with Sam that day. She went up to bed early and fell asleep. In the middle of the night she heard chanting again. “China doll, china doll in the basement, china doll, china doll on the stairs, china doll, china doll in your parents room, china doll, china doll in your brothers room, now he's dead.” Izzy shivered and fell into another troubling sleep. In the morning she went to her brothers room, he was dead. She spent the day in her room and wouldn't come out. Night fell again and she went to sleep. She heard the chanting again. “China doll, china doll in the basement, china doll, china doll on the stairs, china doll, china doll in your parents room, china doll, china doll in your brothers room, china doll, china doll in your room,” She gazed up to see the doll. *Now you're...dead.” The police found her the next day with no sign of the murderer. All they heard was chuckling in the distance. The chuckle of a brown-haired, brown-eyed china doll on the hunt for her next victim. _____________________________________________________________________ A Suicide Note: 1964 "As I prepare to take my life, I feel it necessary to assuage any guilt or pain I have introduced through this act. It is not the fault of anyone other than him. For once I awoke and felt his presence. And once I awoke and saw his form. Once again I awoke and heard his voice, and looked into his eyes. I cannot sleep without fear of what I might next awake to experience. I cannot ever wake. Goodbye." Found in the same wooden box were two empty envelopes addressed to William and Rose, and one loose personal letter with no envelope. "Dearest Linnie, I have prayed for you. He spoke your name." A Journal Entry (translated from Spanish): 1880 "I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I see his eyes when I close mine. They are hollow. Black. They saw me and pierced me. His wet hand. I will not sleep. His voice (unintelligible text)." A Mariner's Log: 1691 “He came to me in my sleep. From the foot of my bed I felt a sensation. He took everything. We must return to England. We shall not return here again at the request of the Rake.” From a Witness: 2006 Three years ago, I had just returned from a trip from Niagara Falls with my family for the 4th of July. We were all very exhausted after a long day of driving, so my husband and I put the kids right to bed and called it a night. At about 4am, I woke up thinking my husband had gotten up to use the restroom. I used the moment to steal back the sheets, only to wake him in the process. I apologized and told him I though he got out of bed. When he turned to face me, he gasped and pulled his feet up from the end of the bed so quickly his knee almost knocked me out of the bed. He then grabbed me and said nothing. After adjusting to the dark for a half second, I was able to see what caused the strange reaction. At the foot of the bed, sitting and facing away from us, there was what appeared to be a man with no clothes, or a large hairless dog of some sort. Its body position was disturbing and unnatural, as if it had been hit by a car or something. For some reason, I was not instantly frightened by it, but more concerned as to its condition. At this point I was somewhat under the assumption that we were supposed to help him. My husband was peering over his arm and knee, tucked into the fetal position, occasionally glancing at me before returning to the creature. In a flurry of motion, the creature scrambled around the side of the bed, and then crawled quickly in a flailing sort of motion right along the bed until it was less than a foot from my husband's face. The creature was completely silent for about 30 seconds (or probably closer to 5, it just seemed like a while) just looking at my husband. The creature then placed its hand on his knee and ran into the hallway, leading to the kids' rooms. I screamed and ran for the lightswitch, planning to stop him before he hurt my children. When I got to the hallway, the light from the bedroom was enough to see it crouching and hunched over about 20 feet away. He turned around and looked directly at me, covered in blood. I flipped the switch on the wall and saw my daughter Clara. The creature ran down the stairs while my husband and I rushed to help our daughter. She was very badly injured and spoke only once more in her short life. She said “he is the Rake.” My husband drove his car into a lake that night, while rushing our daughter to the hospital. He did not survive. Being a small town, news got around pretty quickly. The police were helpful at first, and the local newspaper took a lot of interest as well. However, the story was never published and the local television news never followed up either. For several months, my son Justin and I stayed in a hotel near my parent's house. After we decided to return home, I began looking for answers myself. I eventually located a man in the next town over who had a similar story. We got in contact and began talking about our experiences. He knew of two other people in New York who had seen the creature we now referred to as the Rake. It took the four of us about two solid years of hunting on the internet and writing letters to come up with a small collection of what we believe to be accounts of the Rake. None of them gave any details, history or follow up. One journal had an entry involving the creature in its first 3 pages, and never mentioned it again. A ship's log explained nothing of the encounter, saying only that they were told to leave by the Rake. That was the last entry in the log. There were, however, many instances where the creature's visit was one of a series of visits with the same person. Multiple people also mentioned being spoken to, my daughter included. This led us to wonder if the Rake had visited any of us before our last encounter. I set up a digital recorder near my bed and left it running all night, every night, for two weeks. I would tediously scan through the sounds of me rolling around in my bed each day when I woke up. By the end of the second week, I was quite used to the occasional sound of sleep while blurring through the recording at 8 times the normal speed. (This still took almost an hour every day) On the first day of the third week, I thought I heard something different. What I found was a shrill voice. It was the Rake. I can't listen to it long enough to even begin to transcribe it. I haven't let anyone listen to it yet. All I know is that I've heard it before, and I now believe that it spoke when it was sitting in front of my husband. I don't remember hearing anything at the time, but for some reason, the voice on the recorder immediately brings me back to that moment. _____________________________________________________________________ She lived deep in the forest in a tiny cottage and sold herbal remedies for a living. Folks living in the town nearby called her Bloody Mary, and said she was a witch. None dared cross the old crone for fear that their cows would go dry, their food-stores rot away before winter, their children take sick of fever, or any number of terrible things that an angry witch could do to her neighbours. Then the little girls in the village began to disappear, one by one. No one could find out where they had gone. Grief-stricken families searched the woods, the local buildings, and all the houses and barns, but there was no sign of the missing girls. A few brave souls even went to Bloody Mary's home in the woods to see if the witch had taken the girls, but she denied any knowledge of the disappearances. Still, it was noted that her haggard appearance had changed. She looked younger, more attractive. The neighbours were suspicious, but they could find no proof that the witch had taken their young ones. Then came the night when the daughter of the miller rose from her bed and walked outside, following an enchanted sound no one else could hear. The miller's wife had a toothache and was sitting up in the kitchen treating the tooth with an herbal remedy when her daughter left the house. She screamed for her husband and followed the girl out of the door. The miller came running in his nightshirt. Together, they tried to restrain the girl, but she kept breaking away from them and heading out of town. The desperate cries of the miller and his wife woke the neighbours. They came to assist the frantic couple. Suddenly, a sharp-eyed farmer gave a shout and pointed towards a strange light at the edge of the woods. A few townsmen followed him out into the field and saw Bloody Mary standing beside a large oak tree, holding a magic wand that was pointed towards the miller's house. She was glowing with an unearthly light as she set her evil spell upon the miller's daughter. The townsmen grabbed their guns and their pitchforks and ran toward the witch. When she heard the commotion, Bloody Mary broke off her spell and fled back into the woods. The far-sighted farmer had loaded his gun with silver bullets in case the witch ever came after his daughter. Now he took aim and shot at her. The bullet hit Bloody Mary in the hip and she fell to the ground. The angry townsmen leapt upon her and carried her back into the field, where they built a huge bonfire and burned her at the stake. As she burned, Bloody Mary screamed a curse at the villagers. If anyone mentioned her name aloud before a mirror, she would send her spirit to revenge herself upon them for her terrible death. When she was dead, the villagers went to the house in the wood and found the unmarked graves of the little girls the evil witch had murdered. She had used their blood to make her young again. From that day to this, anyone foolish enough to chant Bloody Mary's name three times before a darkened mirror will summon the vengeful spirit of the witch. It is said that she will tear their bodies to pieces and rip their souls from their mutilated bodies. The souls of these unfortunate ones will burn in torment as Bloody Mary once was burned, and they will be trapped forever in the mirror. _____________________________________________________________________ It's early in the morning. The sun won't be up for another couple of hours. You're fast asleep in bed, lost in a dream, when the phone rings. Rather than waking up, you roll over and cover your head with a pillow. Hours pass. The sun rises. The phone is ringing. When you wake up, your alarm clock is blaring and the phone is ringing. By the time you will yourself to turn the alarm off, the phone has stopped ringing. You realize that it's been ringing all morning. You slide out of bed and press the blinking red button on your phone as you stumble into the bathroom. The phone beeps, followed by the friendly, electronic voice. “Hello. You have six hundred and sixty-six new messages.” Message one. The phone beeps again, and you're not prepared for what comes next. Screaming. You spin around, thinking that she's standing right behind you. There's pure terror in her screams, accompanied by other disturbing noises. You stand there, horrified, for about ten seconds. Screaming gives way to hysterical, garbled crying before dying out with the sounds of spilling meat and tearing flesh. The phone beeps again. You're shaking. Message two. _____________________________________________________________________ On the 3rd of December, find a hand-held mirror, just large enough to cover your face. Cover your face with the reflective side out, walk into the bathroom, turn the light on, and stand in front of the larger mirror. At exactly 11:34 P.M., raise the hand-held mirror above your head. What is in the larger mirror will not be staring back at you, but nor will it be your reflection. Very carefully walk out of the bathroom, backwards, not lowering the hand-held mirror until the one in the bathroom is completely out of view. If you do not, what you saw in the mirror will notice, and realize what you have done... _____________________________________________________________________ A young man and his new bride were honeymooning in Paris when his wife went into a restroom and didn't return. With time the man began to fear the worst and went to the police. The police thought it was most likely the girl simply had second thoughts about the marriage, but they checked it out anyway and found no evidence of foul play. As weeks turned into months, the man finally gave up on finding his beautiful wife, but his life fell into a shambles, he was so filled with grief. Unable to hold a job or go on with his life, he took to wandering the world looking for anything that might ease his pain. Years later, in Borneo, he came upon a freak show in an old shabby building. He went in on a whim. In the last filthy cage he saw a twisted, scarred and mutilated woman rocking back and forth, and groaning strange animal-like noises. He screamed as he recognized the birthmark on his wife's face. _____________________________________________________________________

  17. This is a theory that I originally posted in the DCTP forum (link = http://forums.dctp.ws/index.php?topic=5901.0) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As many of you may have noticed, a whole lot of clues about Sera's identity have been given throughout the past four chapters (Files 768-771). If you put the clues together, an interesting possibility emerges: Sera is an FBI agent. The following are the steps I took to arrive at this conclusion along with facts and evidence to support them: Sera Works For an Espionage-Related Organization In File 769, Sera suggests that she has sharp ears "due to her line of work" (pg 2), suggesting that she works for an organization that involves stealth and information gathering. She also suggests that she has witnessed "innumerable" jumper suicide scenes (pg 3), suggesting that the organization she works for also involves dealing with homicide cases. Sera Has Detailed Knowledge of the Japanese Police Force In File 773, just by noticing a flickering light outside the Detective Agency windows, Sera recognizes the presence of the police, the number and name of their units, their tactical positions, and their plan to defeat the bomber in a very short amount of time. She also goes as far as to help them in their plan by luring the bomber to the window to allow the snipers to shoot him (much like how a normal police officer would act). The source of her knowledge and expertise is unknown. Sera is Highly Skilled in Martial Arts and Deductive Reasoning Sera displayed her skill in martial arts in File 768 when she counter-attacked Ran (who is an exceptional martial artist herself). She displayed her deductive abilities in File 769 when she deduced that the jumper-suicide was actually a homicide disguised as a suicide. Sera is a Japanese-American That Moved Back to Japan Recently In File 771, Sera tells her classmates that she moved back to Japan after living in the United States with her parents for a period of 3 years (pg 2). Apparently, the reason for her return to Japan is that it is "easier to be a detective", suggesting that she is working on some sort of case. Sera Has a Possible Connection to "Deceased" FBI Agent Akai Shuuichi In File 771, when scolded for his actions in the previous case by Haibara, Conan says that Sera is "not an enemy" because she resembles someone he met before (pg 11). Conan has previously worked with Akai during the Clash of the Red and Black. Sera physically resembles Akai (compare the two faces, especially the eyes) who is also a Japanese-American. Also, as some people have mentioned, the name "Sera Masumi" is very similar to the name "Sayla Mass" (Seira Masu), who is Char Aznable's younger sister in the Gundam Wing anime franchise (Akai is named after Char Aznable himself). Also, Sera mentioned that she moved to America three years before the current timeline; this was around the same time when Akai infiltrated the Black Organization as "Morobashi Dai". Sera is Investigating Conan Interestingly, Sera seems to know Conan's name as well as the fact that he is a "detective" despite it being their first time meeting each other. She also knew Ran as well as Professor Agasa (file 771). The source of this information is unclear, however, Haibara points out that Conan's name has come up in newspapers due to his battles with Kaito Kid. She also goes as far as to purposely get her deduction wrong in order to let Conan solve the case himself, probably to test his deductive abilities. In File 771, she shows extreme interest in meeting Conan face-to-face, and alludes to the fact that Conan is the "brain" behind Kogorou's deductions. In File 773, she hints to Ran about the connection between Conan and Shinichi, possibly meaning that she knows or suspects Conan's identity. The reason and motive behind her investigation are unclear, however, it is possible that she is investigating Conan because he had contact with Akai shortly before he "died". Putting the Pieces Together: Sera works for an espionage-related organization and has exceptional skills in martial arts and deductive reasoning. Her skills in martial arts and deductive reasoning might have been obtained while she trained and worked for the organization. She is willing to have criminals killed (like she did with the bomber in file 773), probably due to the fact she witnessed countless deaths during her work in this organization. This organization is most likely the FBI, due to the fact that Sera lived in America recently (the FBI is an American organization) and has a possible connection to a "former" FBI agent (Akai). She moved to America 3 years before the current timeline; this was the same time in which Akai infiltrated the Black Organization, meaning that the reason for her move to America is probably related to this (perhaps she took the FBI's Witness Protection Program to stay safe from danger). She moved back to Japan to work on a case; this case is most likely investigating the "death" of her relative/comrade, Akai Shuuichi. She has detailed knowledge of the Japanese Police Force; she might have received this information from her fellow agents in Japan to prepare herself for her investigation. The reason for her investigation would probably be that she has suspicions surrounding the circumstances of his death (similar to how Jodie felt). This would also explain why she is investigating Conan; he is the second-last person to have contact with Akai before he died (the last being Rena Mizunashi/Kir) and is likely to have information on what went down. COUNTER-THEORIES: "Sera is Too Young to be An FBI Agent" - Sera's True Age Has Not Been Revealed Many of you have been arguing that Sera might be too young to be part of such a high-level organization. However, even though Sera showed up in Ran's class as a high school student, her true age (as well as her identity) has not been confirmed; assuming that she's an FBI agent, she could have forged the papers necessary to register for school, which would allow her to act as a high school student. I would also like to mention that Jodie Starling (a current FBI agent) is around 28-29 years old, and has been a member for at least 5 years (it was shown in flashbacks that she was a member during Akai's time in the Black Organization), making it possible for a young woman such as Sera to join as well. "Sera is a Black Organization Member" - Not Likely Some of you have mentioned that Sera could also be a member of the Black Organization. This theory is not very likely, due to the fact that Sera publicly worked with the police to solve a case (Files 768-770). If Sera was called in for questioning by the police, her identity as well as her involvement in the organization would have been exposed. If she was a BO agent, she would have a certain cover/identity; this identity can easily be exposed if she was questioned and interrogated by the police (for example, if she was a BO agent and an undercover high school student, the police can expose her identity by revealing her true age). This is out of character for the organization, as they would avoid contact with law enforcement during their work (similar to how Gin and Vodka acted in the first chapter of the series). "What if Sera's identity as an FBI agent was exposed?" - Easily Excusable If Sera is an FBI agent and came to Japan to work on a mission, her identity could be exposed. However, this is not an issue because Sera can make an excuse for her stay in Japan such as visiting a relative, vacation from work, or going back to high school to finish her education. Jodie and Camel did the same thing when they were uncovered by Takagi and Megure during the Clash of the Red and Black (File 606). I hope you enjoy my theory, and please feel free to leave comments and/or counter-theories to prove me wrong.
