Part 1

One evening, Kogoro, Ran, and Conan watch the latest episode of a drama based on the mystery novel series Detective Samonji, written by Nintaro Shinmei. Ran then talk about how the novel is continuing after it ended ten years ago.

Just as they're talking about it. Mr.Shinmei's daughter Kaori came to the detective agency and hires Kogoro to find her father and mother. Despite the fact Mr. Shinmei has been sending his manuscript of the new Detective Samonji series via fax to the publisher every weeks, they've have been missing for two months. This cause Kogoro, Ran, and Conan to go the publisher's editorial office and investigate.

While Mr. Shinmei announced he is continuing his famous Detective Samonji series. And has been sending his manuscripts via fax to the publisher every weeks. They've been gone from home for two months.

Part 2

Due to the fact Mr. Shinmei's signature from chapter seven onward were copy of his. It was determined he and his wife is in danger. Heiji Hattori later calls in and explain how he deciphered the text in the first new chapter, and with this information Conan manages to solve the rest of the hidden riddles, but can him and the cops get to the place Mr. and Mrs. Shinmei live before it was too late?
