Situation
At the previous day's prom at the Daigo residence, Yu Daigo was struck by love at first sight with a mysterious girl. However, she had to leave early for some reason and only left one of her shoes behind. This is the reason why Kogoro Mouri and Conan Edogawa are at the mansion. Yu recalls that after he finished discussing work with his secretary over the phone, she ran away from the prom. Coincidentally, Daigo's call with his secretary contained terms that Reira may have misinterpreted as Daigo having a call with legal officials, leading him to believe that she was in some kind of legal trouble.
The doubts become reality when Yu finds out that his pocket watch inherited from his father has disappeared, most likely taken by that girl. At the police station, Sato and Takagi are giving photos from criminals that had previously been caught for similar offenses for Yu to confirm who the mysterious girl is. He confirms the appearance of the girl is similar to Reira Made, and gets into the car with the other four to Reira’s house.
In the middle of the ride, Yu receives a call from an unknown number, but still answers following Sato guides. The number turns out to be from Reira, as she is asking for his help. When the five arrive at the house, they discover that Reira has been beaten and tied up with some tapes. She is then taken to the hospital with the supervision of Yu and Sato, as the rest decide to investigate the scene with Chiba and some other officers.
Following the testimony of a neighbor and messages from Reira’s phone, the four conclude that Miyako and Juria forced Reira to commit multiple theft and abandoned her when they thought that the police were closing in on Reira. The problem is that how are they supposed to find Juria and Reira when they have already run away? Conan suggests that the four can use the phone to track their whereabouts, only to find a truck that is on its way to dump industrial waste illegally.
It seems as if the investigation would gradually reach a dead end when the four detectives could not find useful information from the neighbors. Then, Kogoro's naive thoughts reminds Conan of something that makes him enter the room where Reira had been found with bruises and tied up.
