Part 1
A few days ago, Kogoro got hyped up when he saw Yoko Okino at the Spiral Mansion on TV, so he is taking Conan and Ran to the location today.

The family are still debating about the tower of Babel when the curator Kaoru Neji arrives and explains to them about various spiral art and the owner of them, Kyu Tsurufuji. Later, the art magazine editor Kazumi Hayase arrives as he has an appointment with Neji and several members of Tsurufuji family: Kyu’s son Sensuke Tsurufuji, Sensuke’s younger sister Maimai Tsurufuji, and Sensuke’s wife Yoko Tsurufuji. While the Mouris continue their visit, the people in the appointment seem to have split opinions when Hayase tells them that the publication fee is 300.000 yen.
Even though Maimai accepts the deal, both Sensuke and his wife refuse it because they don’t have the money to. As Sensuke leaves the room, followed by Maimai to convince him to reconsider, Yoko also leaves on her own while Hayase apologizes for what happened, to which Neji tells him that it’s not his fault, and thanked him for coming.
Meanwhile, Kogoro and his family have just finished a room, and decide to go to another one. On their way outside of the room, they realize that there is no more room to visit that way, so they will have to go on another route, but their visit is cut off by a scream, followed by a gunshot. Kogoro tells Ran and Conan not to follow him, only for him to realize they did the complete opposite when he discovered the body of Sensuke. Still, he asks his daughter to call the police.
The police begin asking some questions about the victim and what the suspects did before he is dead. The suspicions rise toward Maimai as no one can verify if Maimai was in the studio all the time after the meeting. Suddenly, Maimai's husband Satoshi Omagari appears and states that she is innocent, without a clear reason why.
Later, Conan is checking the manual guidebook of the mansion, then he notices that something is different when he walks from the 3rd to the 4rd floor of the mansion compared to when he walks from one to another. From there, he asks Yoko Tsurufuji for the blueprint of the building, to which she suggests he go outside and ask Neji instead. When Hayase is convincing Neji to quit working at the mansion and come to work at his place, they are disrupted by Conan asking for the blueprint.

However, Conan finds no useful clue from it and has to walk around again, until he rethinks about the dialogue at the top of the mansion and sees both the tower of Babel and the Abyss, he realizes that he should use the tower to put in the Abyss.
Conan and Ran then come and ask Neji for permission to do it, she hesitates, but Maimai says that she shared the same curiosity with Conan when she was a little. And she decides to do it, and tells that her dad would approve of this as if he was alive. Maimai and Neji put the tower on the Abyss, then Maimai spins the object until they hear a sound of an ancient mechanism.

As the sound of the ancient mechanism ends, the four are surprised to see that the floor they are standing on has lowered. Conan then leads everyone to the top of the spiral stairs, which is no longer a dead end, taking everyone to discover the secret room of the mansion. Inside the room, there are even more of Kyu’s conceptual art. However, Kogoro realizes that Satoshi has gone for quite a while, to which Maimai tells that he always has a habit of jogging around, up to one hour. Since it has been longer than one hour ever since Satoshi was out, Megure orders Takagi to find Satoshi.
Part 2
The body of Satoshi is found at the stream near the Spiral Mansion, much to Maimai’s misery. The police begin to verify the alibis of the remaining suspects at 1:15 PM, the estimated time when he died. Maimai was working at the studio again after the interrogation; while Neji was talking to Hayase; and Yoko was standing where Conan came to ask for the blueprint, with the only exception of going to the restroom.
Conan arrives at the place where Satoshi was finishing his newest sketch for investigation, then he wanders around the mansion and overhears the conversation between Yoko Tsurufuji and Maimai about splitting properties after the case is over. However, since Sensuke had already decided that his father’s art would belong to the museum, both of them will have "zero divided by any non-zero natural number equals zero" in terms of property. Maimai has no problem with that, but Yoko does as she angrily leaves the room. After Yoko is not in Conan’s eyes range, Maimai comes out and asks him what he wanted. He says that he wants to see her husband’s latest sketch, to which she agrees.

Conan notices that the drawing is double-layered, with the outer layer usually used to correct the inner layer, making her wonder what is in the inner layer. Much to her shock, she finds out that Satoshi has been using his sketch as a way to sell her father’s art, even though she was extremely upset with the news, she still tells Conan not to reveal this to anyone. He agrees to.
As Conan goes outside again, he notices how the windows are actually clean instead of dusty outside, so he reaches out to Neji to ask how they clean the outside of the windows. She explains that the window cleaners do it by carefully dropping themselves from the rooftop of the building, which has space for attaching ropes. She then asks Conan if she could make his discovery public since it can double the amount of visitors.
He hesitates, but before he can think further, a brick is falling onto her, forcing Conan to push her out. He then sees someone on the rooftop of the building, so he goes to the location to find him, but only finds a rope that was probably used by the culprit to escape.
