Situation
The Detective Boys head to a pound to witness animal control officers attempting to capture an alligator snapping turtle that is loose in the wild. A man named Nihonmatsu claims that it is his turtle; However, his story is inconsistent, as he claims he bought the turtles in Japan when they are only found in America. When an animal control officer finds two turtles, Nihonmatsu claims they are both his, causing Conan to become suspicious of him.

When they get there they find the pond is off limits as there's a snapping turtle in the pond. The group chat about it and Mitsuhiko tells the group about it from a book.
-
Having a non-native animal could disrupt their ecosystem. Conan notices a woman listening in to their conversation so he says to go to the pet shop that the owner would go to. He says they must have bought a lot of small fish to make turtle food.
-
Conan finds the woman as she starts running after what she said. He confronts her and says she's the one who abandoned the turtle. She explains that she found a boyfriend but he didn't like it. Mitsuhiko annoys Haibara (accidently) and she leaves to do some stuff on her own.
-
Then all of a sudden a man claims the turtle to be his! His name is Nihonmatsu. The group confront him.
