Situation
Ran was approached by Junta Misato, who somehow convinced her to have a hairdress at his workplace. Ran also texts Shinichi about the hairstyle she should change into. Coincidentally, when Misato pointed her to the building he worked at, both of them saw someone/something collapsing inside the third floor of the said building.
Ran and Misato arrived at the complex to check what happened, with Misato finding Sayaka Ishii dead on the third floor of the building. Coincidentally, Kazuhiko Chozuka came out, unbeknownst to what had just happened. Takagi and Megure come to investigate while Chiba goes to ask the people nearby. Ran also informs Shinichi about the case when he is still struggling to find her a hairstyle he wants for her. Conan runs to the building and says Shinichi told him to check on her since Shinichi was busy.
Chozuka recounts that before he saw Misato and the body, he went to the company to address his work, took some coffee in the fridge, watered the plants, and fell asleep inside the toilet–which he believes to be due to his heavy workload he has been carrying recently. In addition, he also reveals why he fired Ishii: Ishii rooted an idea of a new service, but was consumed with greed.
The episode shows only one person Chiba talks to during his work, and the person is Nako Muto, a used clothing shop manager.

- The train station from which Ran witnesses Ishii's murder, "Tsutsugi-Nakahara Station" (都々木中原駅), is named after real-life Yoyogi-Uehara Station (代々木上原駅), operated by private railway company Odakyu and public Tokyo Metro, on its Chiyoda Line. The next station in the episode, "Tsutsugi-Koen Station" (都々木公園駅), is the real-life Yoyogi-koen Station (代々木公園駅).
