Food poisoning - attempted murder
EP1186 Case1.jpg
Location: An all-you-can-eat sweet shop in Haido City Royal Hotel
Victim: Satomi Amari (deceased), Naoko Shimamura (injured)
Age: 21 years old
Poison: Snake venom
Suspects: Naoko Shimamura, Kyoka Kasai, Ryuichiro Mita, and Shunsuke Yumemura
The two ladies began to writhe in pain and suddenly collapsed after consuming the drink, with one having passed away.

Ran tries to contact Shinichi to ask for help solving the case, while Ayumi calls Conan, but the two… he couldn’t answer because he is busy fishing with Professor Agasa. It seems like the girls will have to solve the case by themselves.

The police begin to interrogate people who were nearby when the incident occurred as usual.

  • Kyoka Kasai, an employee of the shop who is also a sociological student at Haido Women’s College along with the two victims, saying that the two girls were good and earnest, while still crying for Satomi Amari’s death. She also states that nobody hates the two at all.
  • Ryuichiro Mita, an Office worker at the Haido Brotherhood Company, remembers that Naoko Shimamura may have interviewed for a position in the company.
  • Shunsuke Yumemura, a municipal worker, is seen acting strangely upon being shown the piece of skin left at the scene by the police, which catches the attention of Ayumi.

The second round of interrogation begins as the girls suspect that Yumemura is not the only one out of three to know about snakes:

  • As Ayumi expresses her suspicion toward Yumemura, he then has to reveal that he is also a snake hunter, and he was afraid of being convicted for murder if he told them the piece was from a snake, while the cause of poisoning is then revealed to be the snake venom. What a coincidence!
  • The next one… well… Kasai confesses to the girls that she herself also has knowledge about snakes, as she is working very hard to become an underground snake charming idol. Kasai also notes that the snake she has for the training, Kobu, has its fangs removed, which means that Kobu can bite her all day and she’ll be just fine!

After reviewing the information they’ve just gathered, Ayumi proposes using their imagination to see who could be the true culprit, which just further confirms that anyone can be the culprit. Just then, Ran’s statement helps Haibara realize something, as she then asks the two police officers to confirm a few things.
