The culprit is really Yosuke Katsuki, while the culprit X never existed. He lied about the time he killed the victim and when he first strangled the victim, he stayed in his house and some hours later he beated him with a pipe to make the police think there's a second murder that murdered the victim hours before the time Katsuki said to have murdered the victim. The evidence is that the door lock has been changed in the morning before the murder, so Katsuki should have not been able to enter the house even with spare key. He is also spotted by security camera at Sebundai Station before 1 PM.

• The arrest warrant in this episode is similar to one in The Threat to Megure's Police Career. In this episode, Kento Tanaka is replaced by Kentaro Okuma (大熊 健太郎 ,Ōkuma Kentarō), who is the real life Detective Conan production adavancement staff in charge of this episode.
• Anime-original locations: Sebundai (瀬分台) and Sakae Town (栄都町). Sebundai is likely a reference to Agatha Christie's Seven Dials.
