Well, if you want to be technical here, the 5 basic tastes are sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami.  Spicy is under the pungency category, which is a sensation (key word) the tongue feels but is not considered a taste.  At least, that's what Wikipedia says...  Looks like Junichi Masuda didn't do his research when he made Ruby and Sapphire, haha.

 

As for my favorite taste, I guess I don't really have one.  Sweet and salty are high on my list though.

Though I consider spiciness a sensation, spicy stuff is my favorite. Sweet stuff is my least favorite.
