  1. "What?! She was a part of the forums?" Detective Caleb was shocked. "Are you sure?" Detective Caleb stopped in his tracks. ----------- Mod note: If you say yes, he'll continue to talk with you. If you deny, he'll leave. If you're not very sure, he'll leave as well but may contact you in future. :V but do note that you are telling a lie right now if you say yes and it may (or may not) affect the future development of the case and may affect your trustworthiness in future.
  2. *Alright. Looks like IU has already posted so yea. I guess I should edit this...
  3. The manager was puzzled but he shook their hands anyway. "You guys are here for a project?" He asked. "I was about to leave but I guess I could spare a little time... Here's my name card." The man handed a card to each of them. "Please sit." He motioned them to the chairs in his office. "Now. What would you guys like to know?" ------------------- Name: Tim James Designation: Incident Management Manager of Benford Industries. Number: (206) 509-9954. (From his name card) Description: Very formally dressed, one will mostly see him in a suit, sometimes with a tie. He's a person who values professionalism at work and is a very capable employee in the company. He oversees all of the incidents of Benford industries, whether positive or negative and make sure these incidents do not affect the company's reputation negatively.
  4. Moderator note: I don't mind you guys splitting up actually, only like IU said, the time would be staggered and you'll have to deal with that (actually We have to deal with that). Also, do note that the information would not be shared even if you split up. Unless you group up and discuss about it then you'll obtain the information. Do note that this may also incurs some time and we will include that in our calculations. Also, projects aren't a bad idea compared to pretending to be the relatives. Try to think of it this way, if a huge murder like this takes place, the people will be more alert to anything regarding this issue. Just like if theft just occurred, people will be more alert with their bags. If that were the case, what will happen if you spoke of anything regarding the case? They will be extra alert to you. And you dont want that. You'd rather they be more unwary and careless around you and accidentally spill some information. So you might want to misdirect them. Also, it would be suspicious for kids to come to the office saying they are relatives of a dead murdered woman, asking for information. Usually, if they really are the relatives, they'd get all the information from the police or their direct relatives, not from the company. But of course this would depend on the way you're asking the questione, but I'll make no comments about this. well, I don't want to affect your decisions and actions. Go on. Be creative
  5. Mod Note: Alright... I'll approve for this. =================== "Mr. Tim James? Hold on..." the receptionist types something into her computer before she replies you. "Are you looking for Mr. Tim James, Manager of the Incident Management Department? He usually leaves office around this time, but if you're lucky he may still be around. If that is the person you're looking for, his office is on the 16th story, Incident Management Department. Your ID's please." The group passed the lady some identification passes and she records them down before returning it to them. "Here are your access cards. The lift is to the left. Please return the passes before you leave. Visiting hours is only til 8:30pm so please kindly return the passes before that. Thanks." After collecting your passes a lady approached the receptionist. "Hey Gina! We've got your order! Here!" The lady passes something, possibly dinner, to the receptionist. As you walk past her, you saw the pass dangling from her neck. 'Chrissy Tarrington. Secretary, Benford industries.' "Alright, then! Guess I'll be heading off first. See ya!" The lady waved before turning to the exit. ======================== Moderator Note: About the bios of the above staff, depending on who you decide to meet, I may decide to post only that person's particulars. On a side note, just in case you're worrying that the person whom you have 'created yourself' would not be useful, that may not be the case as we could also decide to make him useful. However, you would like to note that, depending on the person's particulars that we have provided, that person can only act according to their character and provide information which they would possibly know. This means that, a person will not be able to pass you any information which, in reality, they would be unlikely to obtain OR which they have obligations to not divulge. Oh. And one more thing. If you haven't realized, both of the staff above are leaving. So if you choose to talk to Chrissy, then you may not have the chance to talk to Tim. So choose wisely. :V
  6. "Hi," Sophia said, as she approached the available officer, glancing at his name stand. "Officer Holden is it? We're Jennifer Starling's friends...you know, the most recent victim of the serial murders. Can you please tell us details of her death and the previous Rainman Serial Killings?" "The most recent victim of the serial murder? Ah yes... The case today afternoon. It's an unfortunate event and I'm sorry to hear that your friend has passed on. Just for documentation purposes, may I have a look at your identification passes and record them for future references? Not to worry, it is just so that we may be able to contact you if we have any questions regarding the case, or if we have any updates we would like you to know. We rarely call too, and even if we do, you are free to not answer if you do not wish to." The group hesitated for a moment before passing the police their passports/identification cards. The police officer took them and scanned them using a barcode scanner before returning their passes to them. "Alright thanks for your cooperation. It looks like all of you have already registered your phone number with us. Here are your cards." "Now, as for your previous question, I'm sure you've already received the news that your friend has met with an unfortunate incident. At around 2:30PM today afternoon, she was shot and killed in the middle of Maple Tree Park where she died instantly. We have identified this case as related to the recent string of murders. As for the murderer, we are currently actively searching for the him as we speak now. Don't worry as we will definitely put in our greatest effort to find the culprit and put him behind bars. He will most definitely get the punishment he deserves. We are currently also actively searching for witnesses for accounts of today's incidents but we haven't gotten much information. Since you're friends with Mrs. Starling, may I invite all of you inside for some quick questions to understand more about the victim? This would be helpful for the investigations of the case. Would it be alright?" ========= Moderator Note: @IU: To be fair, I think the van should also follow the time as well. So: Van has left at 7:20 and reached Police Station at 7:25. So I believe that if the other groups hitched the ride to the location at the same time, they should be able to take the van as well. If the groups decide to head to a different location or missed the time, then they would not be able to take the van. Should this be the case?
  7. Elfen Lied manga was good to me though... =\ I dunno, I just disliked Project K. It was... weird. and ... weird. Sorry. I thought I'd like it. The trailer was amazing. I went to watch it. It was... urgh. Azumanga daioh. Don't like this one as well. The comedy is sometimes really irritating. Burst Angel anime. Storyline was fine. But the "extra scenes" were too much and too weird.
  8. @IU: Sure. Not a problem since Jay herself says so. :V =========== "Here we are." Amber announced as everyone hopped off from the van. "The Slice." "Alright, the time now is 7:00pm. We'll be going in now for dinner and we have a booking for all of you on the second level. Those who wishes to use the washroom may go first. Just head up to the second level once you're done." Amber announced. "Alright, at anytime when you want to leave, please look for one of our kind hearted drivers. I'm sure all of you already have their numbers by now. And when going anywhere, try to do so in a group seeing that we only have two vans around. And please kindly return to the hotel before 10PM. We'll probably be conducting a briefing at that time. If everything's clear, you may proceed up to the second floor for your dinner. Thanks!" With that, everyone headed in. =========== Moderator Note: Hey look! We have three (or perhaps more) groups amongst us. But note that we only have... two vans. I'm guessing you know what that means right? It means that if the two vans are already in use at any particular time, then the third group will have to wait. So the time accounts for this as well! You people can question different witnesses separately, but it'll be best if you guys can gather and move around together. Does that make sense? Alright. Another note. You may decide not to eat, but that's bad, since you might faint due to hunger and we DID book your share. Also, the mods may decide that they want to have some dinner themselves. Well, van service have to depend on your mod after all. :V (Walking doesn't require a van though). Ah, also, even though I say mods, I don't drive. So yea. Don't call me. :V I'll probably be the one tagging along. :V
  9. "Well, we do have two vans here..." Amber commented. "Remember how you got here? Mark can drive one of them. But as for the other one, I don't want to trouble Jay..." She saw Jay trying to protest but stopped her. "I know what you're going to say, but driving is tiring. We need you to settle your thoughts instead so today you'll concentrate on just doing that. We'll need you to take things over from tomorrow onwards too." Jay smiled and gave up on trying to argue. Amber smiled back in response before asking, "Can we have Eli take over the wheel?" The other girl nodded. "Alright, lets proceed to the van shall we? By the way, we are heading over to the restaurant now. Those who just wants to eat can remain in the restaurant. Those who wants to go investigate may do so as the victim's work place is close to the restaurant. Alright. Lets go."
  10. "Amber-neechan," Abdul called out. Amber chuckled softly. 'Oh gosh.' "Would you happen to have a laptop?" 'A laptop?' She nodded. "With internet?" He asked. "Why do you need it?~" "Research. My phone network doesn't work here." Amber got up to get her laptop. She has just rented one from the counter. Abdul turned to Heikki. "It will take some time before I decide we need to go anywhere. Gathering data is 90% boring after all." "You know, there is free wifi. So at least my phone works." Heikki said to Abdul who was using Amber's laptop. "Maybe we could go out to see those places in real." He continued as Abdul nodded. Abdul did whatever he did to the laptop. Amber didn't care what he did. It wasn't her laptop anyway. She wondered when they will set off for dinner. Come to think of it, the restaurant's location seems to near the work place of the victim. Perhaps they could eat while scanning the surroundings?
  11. Moderator Note: Hey guys, I'll be VERY kind and do a little recap on the "official" information we have "released" either through reports or questioning. Other subtle clues (E.g actions of the people and/or police or inner thoughts of the people) will be excluded from this post (So you may have to re-read the story to find it). Don't think I'll be doing another one of this in future (at least I won't) so do try to keep up. Lastly, I would like to repeat that you can't solve the case without enough clues. Detectives do research and search for clues. You won't get any if you don't search. Even Conan asks questions. You may like to question the witnesses (or investigate the places) once we release the information to you. (Sometimes, you may not have the chance to do so once we proceed with the storyline) Anyway, you can ask as many questions as you like. If you want to question a witness, the witness must be around. You can also look for the witness if we have specified a location which the witness is in. Else, you can try your luck by looking in the locations which we have released. ~~~~ Police Investigation Report Amber's summary of the case Information provided from Jay:
  12. "Me? I would say I was highly mistaken when I said you looked over 20 years old." Abdul mused. That's not the first time Amber heard the statement. "Aw," Amber pretended to be hurt "But I'm 8. Or 10. Maybe 15." Her voice changing from a bit childish to mature with each sentence. "Sure." Abdul sounded sarcastic. "By the way, do have any method of self-defense?" He asked. A very interesting question. "No. Not at all." Amber shrugged. "Would you like to be my bodyguard then?" Amber asked cheekily. "Anyway, what's with the 'I'm coming with you?'" Amber continued asking. "You're planning to go somewhere eh? Don't tell me, you're going to investigate? Hmmm... That's interesting~ How about me tagging along as well~ I'm sure I could be useful~"
  13. "Putting aside this case," Abdul rubbed his temples and addressed Amber. "Any thoughts on meeting me, Neechan?" he asked quietly with a smile. "Hmm... "Amber shrugged. "I dunno. How about you tell me? That would be more interesting for me." Amber stuck out her tongue in mischief.
  14. "I see. Speaking of news, don't they tell what sort of job the deceased person used to do?" Abdul asked. Amber shrugged. "Nope. As I mentioned, the news was ambiguous, possibly because the police didn't want to release any news. But somehow, I've overheard something interesting from the police during the investigations. It seemed like the most recent victim, Jennifer Starling, is the secretary at Benford Industries... I... think... Couldn't really hear it very well. I've went to search for this place, and it turned out there really is a company like that located in 2144 Washington Road." Abdul's eyes shone. Amber continued. "Well, I doubt that's helpful though." She shrugged.
  15. "Neechan..." "Amber-neechan?" Amber realized someone was actually calling her. "What is it, Abdul?" "How did Philip Fillmore die, and why did the police wanted to classify it as a different murder?" "Hmmm... Actually, I have not much information, except that the news was really ambiguous. The weird thing is... It seemed like the news weren't very consistent either. On some news, there weren't even the news of Philip Fillmore's murder. Truthfully, I read about other murder cases, but surprisingly, it wasn't reported under the same category. There are many names for this case, for example - 'Rainman Serial Killing'... Another news reported about Carrie Langley and Lisa Atwood being killed by the same person too but the details for these two were even more ambiguous. I cannot determine if they were killed by the same person, so I didn't bring them out. However, as to which is true, is really ambiguous. Before the third case, the police had never revealed anything about the bullets or the possibility of the killer being the same. Possibly, they didn't want to alarm the public that there was a random killer lurking around, which is why they tried to deny that all three cases have anything to do with each other. Philip Fillmore was also killed by a bullet according to the news report. As for Carrie Langley and Lisa Atwood... I'm not very sure. We could only verify if the news is true or not with the police I guess..." Amber shrugged. "These are all information I extracted from the news. I suppose, we could only verify if these are true with the police themselves."
  16. Half an hour later, people start to come into the cafe. Jay started explaining the situation first. When Amber saw that there weren't any more people coming in, she started the session. "Alright. Let's start." Amber cleared her throat. "Lilian Rockwell. The murder that started it all." Amber pulled out a newspaper article and placed it on the table. Everyone listened carefully. "She was killed by a single gunshot through her temple. It was the same situation as today. There were a lot of people nearby when suddenly the woman collapsed. There were many people around but none of them had seen anyone suspicious. All witnesses accounted that they just saw the woman suddenly collapse, with no visible culprit around. James Sterling was appointed to take up this case. At that time, they also searched through everyone's belongings but the weapon was never found. Several suspects were named, but after further investigations, they were cleared of their suspicions and released. A month later, it happened again..." Amber took another piece of article out. "Bradley Miller. Killed the same way as Lilian Rockwell. Died by a gunshot. Interestingly, it was on a rainy day as well. Besides this, the police could find nothing similar between these two people." "Another month later, the murder happened again. This time, the death of Philip Fillmore. Again, a rainy day, and no other similarities. Police wanted to determine this a separate murder as the first two, but they found that the bullets matched the first and second murder. Thus, it was determined that it was the same person committing the murder, therefore declaring this a serial killing case. The fourth time, which just happened, was described to you by Jay." "Even though the police did not publicize, it was pretty obvious that there were similarities." Amber paused for a while. "That it was on a rainy day, and it was committed using a gun. Also, there was a huge crowd during that time... This was always the setting for the murders. This meant that, if we could determine when and where it would rain, where there is a huge crowd, we could look for a person who have a gun and nab the culprit before the tragedy happens. However, there is a problem... And that is, it seems like the murderer is just killing off random people. It makes me shiver to realize, that if the murderer had shifted his target to the person beside the lady, it may have been Jay lying down there instead. So, if we were to go there, I'm afraid we would endanger ourselves instead." Everyone was silent. "Alright. Let's not think about this. For now, let's just forget about all that's happened and enjoy our gathering. We have planned activities for these few days, hope you guys will enjoy them. Okay?" Amber saw that it was close to 6pm already, so she reminded the people to head to the lobby once they are finished with their drinks, they should head to the lobby. ------------------------------- Moderator Note: Please do actively question the witnesses or the police officers or go around the places we have specified to do investigations, as some clues can ONLY be found by questioning them. I'll be nice and give a huge hint to you guys - some people or NPC's can only be unlocked if you question the correct witness/suspect/police/detective. -----------------
  17. Hey I got a few new members to join in previous rounds? (Not exactly new but well, new to rp) And do you consider yourself new? :V
  18. Me too!!! \o/ But its regretful you didn't join >__<
  19. After her questioning, Amber headed back to the rest of the group and rounded them up. "Alright. We're regretful to have such an unpleasant incident to happen on the first day of our gathering but I hope all of you remain calm and be patient and cooperate with the investigations. Since Jay had a rough day, I'll be taking over for her temporarily." She smiled at Jay to indicate that she should take it easy. "Alright, now, since we're unable to-" "Excuse me..." Detective Caleb suddenly dropped in on the conversation. "We will need to conduct a search on your belongings if you don't mind..." "Huh? I'm sorry Mr. Detective. We would love to cooperate with you on that but I would like to understand why this is necessary?" Amber asked. She did not like anyone to ruffle through her belongings. "Well, our investigations had found out that the woman was killed by a single bullet shot through her heart. We've searched the entire park but haven't found any guns or murder weapon. Thus it must be within the belongings of the people." "Wait sir, could it be, you're suspecting that one of us is the culprit? Look sir, there's no way that any of them are the serial killer! They've just arrived in Seattle today morning!" "That's true. But t may just be a copycat murder. We wouldn't know... And-" "Sir! We've got new discoveries!" A police reported tithe detective. "What is it?" "We've taken the bullet for investigations and confirmed that it was the same type of bullet as the previous murders." "... So it's the same murderer huh?" "See now detective?" Amber responded. "Right. So we just need to investigate on the four of you then..." He turned to reply. "...huh!?" "Well there are four of you who currently stay in Seattle right? And all four of you had been staying here ever since the first murder happened. So there should not be any problem right." "Al-alright then..." Amber sighed reluctantly. "So who are the fou-" "Amber, Mark, Elizabeth and ... Jay. Please step up. Thanks." Amber sighed and opened her bag for the police to check. The police ruffled through, made sure that there weren't anything that looked like a firearm and then confirmed that she was cleared. Amber looked into her now messy bag and cursed under her breath. Mark and Elizabeth and Jay did so too, but the police found nothing too suspicious. "Alright. You guys may go now. However, please do note that we may need to call you back for investigations whenever we deem necessary. And Ms Jay, we will probably contact you again for your assistance. Thanks for your cooperation." Detective Caleb said. With that, Amber led the group out of the park and back to the hotel. Amber took out the slip of paper from her bag and read it again. "Alright. Even though we still have some stuff on our itinery, I'm sure you guys don't mind cancellig those for tonight? I'm sure all of you are pretty exhausted now so we'll be staying in the hotel for the rest of tonight. Well, for those who would like to discuss about the recent incident, you might like to head down to the cafe at the first story half an hour later. I would be doing some recap on the recent events. If not, you may stay in your hotel room until dinner time at 6. Meet at the lobby at 6 later. We'll be bringing you to our dinner location later." After the announcement, everyone headed back got their hotel rooms. "I've booked a temporary room for you. You probably need rest." She turned to Jay. "Let's head up first." With that, Amber and the rest brought her up to the hotel room.
  20. Police rounded up the people in the park and started to question them. The police led Amber to a desk before starting their questioning. "What's your name?" The police officer asked her. "Amber." she replied. "Right..." the police officer wrote notes. "May I see your identification?" Amber took out her ID and the police wrote more notes. "So... Do you know why we called you here?" "Yea... Someone died in the middle of the park." "Right... So we would like to know why you were in the park. What were you doing around 2:30pm when that 'someone' died?" the police officer got ready to take notes. "Don't worry, we just need these information to assist us in our investigations." "I came here to participate in a gathering from an internet forum." "Oh... could you mean the DCW forum? There are a few others like you. So... what were you doing around 2:30pm?" "We were sitting around the fountain... around... there." Amber pointed over to the direction of the fountain. "We've bought some food and sat there to eat. However, it started raining, so we decided to head to the shelter." "So you were heading towards the shelter together with the entire group when the incident happened? Then what made you aware of the incident? Anyone with you at that time?" "Erm... no. I was packing up and getting ready to leave but lost the rest of the group when a huge crowd blocked my way. I was aware of the incident when we heard a scream and everyone turned to look and headed to the same direction. I wondered what had happened and went to the source of the commotion to take a look. At that time, another guy was with me. If I am not wrong, his name is Mark." "Right. So will he be able to testify for you that he was with you? Where and how close were you when you realized that something had happened?" "Hmmm.... We're still around the fountain... So that's about 20 meters away...? I think... I'm not very sure. And I think he should be able to testify for me. He had trouble opening his umbrella and I had given him some advice. He should remember me." "Right...Last question. Do you know about the lady who collapsed?" "..." Amber paused for a while before replying. "No." "..You sure?" the police questioned again. "I don't know her..." Assured Amber. "Alright then. Thanks for the cooperation. May you help by leaving your contact details on this piece of paper before leaving." Amber wrote down her number and stood up, going back to the rain shelter where everyone else is waiting.
  21. Rain was never Amber's favourite weather. She wiped the droplet of water away with a tissue and took out and umbrella from her bag. She saw that the rest too, started taking out their umbrellas in view of the change in weather. From within her bag, she also carefully pulled out a plastic bag and tied it onto the handle of her umbrella, and stuffed a handkerchief and some tissues into her right pocket. Not before long, the rain started to fall more heavily as the rest of the people, who hasn't got out their umbrellas, rushed to take them out. "Let's head to the rain shelter on the other side of the park!" One of them suggested and the rest of the group agreed. Due to the rain, people started to panic, and the park seemed to be suddenly flooded with running people, all trying to escape the rain. Amber stood up and was about to head for the shelter, but she had some difficulty because she had to try and avoid the incoming human traffic. Because of that, she was separated from the group in front. Luckily for her, she was not alone. She had company. There's this grumbling guy behind her struggling with his umbrella. "...You won't be able to open it if you're so impatient and trying to force it up. The metal will break you know..." Amber said to the guy behind her who seemed to be pretty violent with his umbrella. After he calmed down a little, and opened it slowly, he finally got it open, but of course, getting himself a little wet. He seemed to get real irritated just from getting himself wet. He mumbled something soft which Amber didn't catch before starting to walk. Amber offered him some tissues which he accepted. Suddenly, there was a change in atmosphere in the park. Then, a few screams could be heard. People started to swarm towards a certain area which was pretty close to them in the park. Amber and her companion realized that something had happened and rushed towards the direction the people were heading. When she reached, she could see, just why there was such a huge commotion. Someone was dead. And that is not all. Right beside the dead body, was someone they are very familiar with, stained with the blood of the victim. ~~ Within half an hour, the police had arrived and had taken the situation under control. All of the members have been rounded up for questioning and many of the public who was involved were also detained there for further investigations. Due to the rain, all of them were gathered under the rain shelter and everyone had to undergo a set of questionings. However, after all the questionings the police were still unable to find anyone with a motive or anyone suspicious enough to the culprit, except for this one person covered with the blood of the victim. With this 'unexpected' turn of events, everyone from DCW has been dragged into this complicated, crazy, and mysterious murder case... ~~~ Note: And so... the mystery begins. Don't worry if you did not understand what just happened. Another mod (or me) will explain what just happened and describe the situation in more details in a later post. And don't worry, the dead person is definitely not you (at least not now, that is...). I'm sure you're wondering who is the person beside the dead body? This... will be explained in a later post. You just have to act and post normally until then. You have just (indirectly) witnessed a murder case happening right after you reach your destination. You know your luck was never very good, but this is just too much. Is this case related to the recent murders you've heard so much about happening in Seattle? Or is this a separate case on its own? Whatever it is, it's not something pretty which you would like to see, especially on your long awaited vacation. You're pretty shaken during that time when the murder happened but now, you're determined to find out what happened. Unless otherwise specified, your role now, is the role of a (self-hired) detective, and your duty, is to find out about the murderer, how he/she/they committed the crime, the evidence of the murder, and basically, the truth. Clues? These will come up in a while. By the way, just so you know, some of the clues will be included within the story, some of them will be released by the "police", and some of them, you'll have to obtain them by questioning the witnesses (which we, mods, will control). Who are the witnesses you ask? Well, the list will be coming up in a short while as well. (Police do not work that fast either you know :V). For now, you just have to role play as you normally would. Enjoy~
  22. Everything was proceeding smoothly and they had made it to the park. This park isn't very special but it had a certain peaceful atmosphere. Everyone has stopped at a fountain where Jay passed out some money to everyone. Amber hesitated before accepting it, replying her with a "thanks". She was told they'd be receiving some cash for food before this, but it was awkward to take it. After buying some burgers. She took out her hand sanitizer and some wet tissues, rinsed her hand with the sanitizers and wipes it away using the tissues. She unwrapped the packaging carefully, replacing the packaging with some serviettes. But before she starts eating, she took out a piece of paper from her bag and glanced at it for a moment before folding it and returning it to her bag. Just as she was about to start eating, she felt something cold drip onto her arm. She looked up to the sky. "..."
  23. Amber rushed back to meet the group as they were about to head off. "I'm back. Let's go." Everyone stood up and got ready to leave. Amber looked at the mess of the table and tried to resist the urge. However, in the end, she still went back, packed it up and threw the rubbish into the bin before following the rest. She watched as the rest of the members have already mingled pretty well with each other. She hasn't even formally introduced herself.
