I personally don't care much about the romance aspect of the story in general, though I do have an idea of why so many people dislike the "childhood friend" formula, at least in Detective Conan. And unfortunately, I think that I have to agree with them on most parts. While some just simply don't like it because they hate one certain character (more commonly Ran), I do believe that the basic problem of the matter mostly comes from the way Gosho depicts these childhood love stories themselves over the course of time; and not other factors such as the characters, nor the fact that they're childhood friends. (Some people even told me that they do like childhood-couples in other series, just not in Conan). Just like CarpetCrawler said, this pattern is too repetitive and applies for too many (if not most) couples: The man and the woman have known each other since they were very little, they either grew up together and developed a strong bond, or had an unforgettable memory. What makes it worse is that the moment of their first meeting all occurred when they were extremely young (kindergarten/elementary school). Therefore, many couples' backgrounds are basically the same, and if we refer to the large number of couples in DC, it's not necessarily a good writing. Even if Gosho insists to create a childhood-friends love story, I wonder why he never tried making them knowing each other at a later point in time, like in junior high school, at least that would make it different and the story would be less one-colored a bit... Therefore, I believe that when some people say they'd prefer the next couple not being childhood friends, it's more like they're just getting tired of it and want something new, rather than disliking the childhood kind of love story itself. Also, like you said, this kind of love is usually very pure and rare (both in fiction and real life), but that's what makes it so special in the first place. One or two can do the work, but a universe where the majority of couples are childhood friends just seems too unrealistic to many people, especially when most of them will probably receive a happy ending at this rate. Another thing is that, even if we just ignore Shinichi x Ran and Heiji x Kazuha as they're the central couples and need some levels of focusing, the romance aspect in DC are quite unbalanced between the other couples in term of development and pacing. For childhood friends couples, comparing to the original characters, some of the later ones' love stories are much more forced, two fine examples would be Shiratori x Kobayashi and Chiba x Naeko. They're forced not only because of Gosho's attempt to pair as many characters as possible (Kobayashi is an immediate solution for Shiratori and Naeko's creation is just random), but also because their circumstances don't really require them to be childhood friends in order to get together at all. It wouldn't make any difference if Gosho arranged Shiratori to randomly meet up with Kobayashi when she came to pick the DB without this whole "sakura flower memory" thing and the fact that she looks like Sato. Unlike Shinichi and Ran who have grown up together and developed an unbreakable bond, they didn't even know who the other was, so what's the point anyway? The same thing could apply for Chiba and Naeko as well, while they were close at some points in the past, the bond was still fragile, which makes their childhood relationship unnecessary and loses its basic meaning. However, since Gosho did make them childhood friends, their love stories seem pretty flat and awkward. Shiratori x Kobayashi received the fastest development ever seen while Chiba's romance pretty much revolves around "when will he be able to recognize her?" It has some negative effects on the characters of course, as Shiratori and Chiba became unnecessarily silly. The former has been blindly chasing after Sato all these years thinking she's his childhood interest despite the differences in their personalities, he should've just asked her to confirm. The latter recognizes *spoiler*Naeko's friend instead of her.*end spoiler* On the other hand, couples with more potentials (like Agasa x Fusae) never had any development over the years. I'm quite glad that Kogoro x Eri still has some once in a while. At the same time though, the non-childhood couples are also unbalanced. Takagi x Sato received most of the focusing while we don't really know what would happen to Sonoko x Makoto.

His wiki page explains that Shiho was ordered to test APTX 4869 on him, but he escaped before she could. The Black Org was never shown targeting him after that, maybe because he was very low rank and considered useless.I think what he/she meant was that whether he was gonna be executed by the authorities (for killing people), not by the Org.

@Goth19: Just to be clear, you have rewatched every single episode from the beginning till that Dracula Mansion case, right? I need to be sure so I can just filter out all of those earlier episodes. Also, it seems that in Germany they stopped dubbing after Episode 308 (The Dark Footprint), aka. Episode 333 in the German version. So whatever you're searching for, it is prior to that case. However, according to the German Wiki, the last dubbed episode was released on 2006 in Germany (if I understand correctly), therefore that case might have aired even earlier because you said that you watched it about 10 years ago (probably 2001~2005). But I'm not 100% certain about this though. What I'm 100% certain is that there's only one case about vampires in the Conan animated series. So whatever "creature" featured in that case, it wasn't a vampire, but probably something else from other folklore or urban legends (ghost, goblin, demon... etc.) Also did you actually see the "creature" appearing, or was it only the "bite mark" on the victim's neck?

And no, the case with Yumi hasn't been released yet. They did this case first because it seems to be more important plot-wise.

Hm... I would probably need more clues to help you find that episode... Do you remember anything else, like: 1. Besides Conan and Kogoro, who else is there? (Ran? Sonoko? Heiji?...) 2. Is the killer male or female? 3. The real weapon that the killer uses? (Because the wound's obviously not a vampire bite ) 4. Is there only one death, or are there anymore victims? If there are, do they die in the same way as the woman? 5. The killer's motive? (Revenge? Money?...) 6. Where is the mansion located? (Tokyo? In a wood in the middle of nowhere? On an island?...) 7. How long is the whole case (from the beginning till the case is closed)? (1 episode? 2+ episodes? 1 episode but is longer than an usual one?) You should still check out the cursed mask case though, just in case.

Summer? Then it's probably not that cursed mask case because it was winter in that episode.

If I'm not mistaken, there are only two vampire-related cases in the entire series. One is the case you've just watched: Dracula's Villa Murder Case (Episode 88-89) and the other one is a manga case that won't be animated any time soon. Basing on your description, I think the episode that you watched 10 years ago was Episode 184, A Cursed Mask Coldly Laughs, which, like its name, had nothing to do with vampires and it was about cursed masks that kill people instead. The victim's neck wasn't bitten actually, it was stabbed/cut by a knife or something like that. Please check the link I gave you and take a look at the characters in that case to see if it's really the episode you're looking for. Another possibility I can think of at this moment is Episode 34-35, Mountain Villa Bandaged Man Murder Case. But this case was not about vampires either. The culprit was a guy who wrapped himself with bandages, and the victim's neck was... chopped off and not bitten. By the way, as you can see, our site has a "Wiki" section where you can conveniently search for episodes (using the "search" box). In case the two above aren't the case you are looking for and searching doesn't help, here is the list of every episode from the beginning until now. Basically all episodes have summaries so you probably won't have to rewatch every single one of them just to look for a case. My most favorite one would be Movie 4. The mystery and the romance are balanced well, there are also some touching scenes. It has good animation in general and I love how the movie begins with a murder.

Not helping much but the sources for Gosho's blood type can be found here and here. About his height (174cm), I've found some pages saying that Kaito's and Shinichi's heights are the same as the author's (Shinichi's height is known to be 174 in Conan Drill); such as Shinichi/Conan's Wikipedia page, Kid's Wikipedia page... etc. but there is no original source that I can find to verify those information. I haven't found any source for the other trivia yet. By the way I think we should also verify or add citations for information like "In his youth, Aoyama and his friends were more like the Detective Boys back then and describes himself as the Mitsuhiko type of his group." and "Aoyama had to read manga secretly because his parents were strict..."
