I think I've found the reason why the Phishing thingy happened: https://blog.sucuri.net/2015/02/analyzing-malicious-redirects-in-the-ip-board-cms.html I tried going to DCW through google and it redirected me to that URL4SHORT site thing and then when I tried doing it again, it didn't redirect me anymore. Same thing as what the article said. It's gone now btw since the DCW forum software was updated. It fixed the problem.2 points

Anime: Gintama. Genre: Everything, well, the main genre is comedy. Plot: Twenty years ago, Edo-period Japan suffered a great cultural shock—the aliens called Amanto invaded the Earth, overpowered the nation's government, and outlawed the carrying of swords by the once proud samurai. Moreover, the aliens took the people's jobs and are currently running Japan as a sweatshop using the natives as laborers. In this strange new era are Gintoki Sakata, an eccentric samurai whose personal trademarks are his naturally permed silver hair, his love of anything sweet, and his addiction to Shonen Jump; Shinpachi Shimura, the teenaged heir of the Kakido-Ryu style; and Kagura, an incredibly strong alien girl from the powerful Yato clan. The trio are self-employed in an odd jobs shop called Yoruzuya Gin-chan, which offers to do almost anything for a price, from finding lost kittens to saving the world. Unfortunately, the jobs rarely go as planned, or pay enough to cover the pain and suffering the employees encounter—never mind their rent. Why I like it: Every character is unique and hilarious, the comedy is pure gold, but that's not just what makes Gintama good, at first glance Gintama might seem like just a simple parody series, but it has it's own plot, and trust me, when Gintama is serious, it's really serious, the serious arcs are some of the best arcs I've ever seen. The amount of foreshadowing is insane, stuff that are revealed hundreds of episodes later might be actually mentioned in the early parts as jokes or really subtle lines. I love how Gintama can switch genres without it feeling weird. Rating: 5/5.1 point

WHAT IS THIS WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN LIKE THIS LOOKS SO SLEEK BUT WHAT I just decided to drop by and I'm met with this totally different DCW Forum. I had to check site addresses a few times to make sure I'm in the right place because, whoa, Maurice really revamped the place. I really like it, design-wise (yay minimalist), though I haven't done my fair share of exploring yet to comment on usage and stuff. (Wonder what else is missing? Friends list, for one. Are the signatures gone too? Is there a way to get those back? What's going to happen to the Rate Avatar/Sig Above You thread? WHY IS CHANGE SO OVERWHELMING??) (And Maurice, if you're reading this: thankyouthankyouthankyou for maintaining DCW even after all these years ) == EDIT: Observations so far: Old quotes, signatures are gone. New quotes work, but now it'll be harder to read through and understand old threads. Might be especially significant in the DC Anime/Manga discussions since they heavily utilize quotes. Oh man DCW looks so modern it's like seeing your baby all grown up okay this just got weird real fast The "All Activity" tab mashes together the old "New Content" and "Status Updates" wall. (I think this design is to accommodate for slower traffic?) Emoticons are automatic now Images are the same, though the buttons are on the button instead of the top and it's organized a bit differently. Now we have this "Attachments" feature. Haven't used it yet, though I'm thinking it makes it easier to pull up previously uploaded pics (Wordpress has a similar function.) The BBC code feature in the posting box isn't there anymore (or I can't find it). Idek what technologically clueless people like me are gonna do—I can't memorize codes for the life of me. I'm inclined to mention the Rep button looks very clickable. (I'm seriously tempted to go around repping a bunch of posts just for the satisfaction. Don't ask.) Avatars are circles now. Haven't quite figured out the changes made to profiles yet. Can't seem to find the repped content, bio, (some fields of) user info, etc. May just be me—I'll keep looking. There's a convenient "Create" button up top. I think there are less features in Settings? The top "Detective Conan World" header is linked to the forums instead of site home. No "HOT" labels, which I like. (Idek what the algorithm for that was, but it made no sense.) Less emphasis on unread threads, which I don't really like. Sometimes we need that extra pressure to click through all the threads and post. The design is modern and not quite minimalist like I'd said, but definitely far simpler than the old design. I can't say enough how much I love this new style, but I do miss some of the old graphics. No more "Moderators," "Top Users," "Highest Rep Content," etc. Again, I haven't fully explored everything yet, but I think a lot of less-used features were cut and the site has become more compact overall. Why do all the buttons look so clickable? I think that's enough for right now. TL;DR: whoa change1 point

The "logging out" part may be normal because I had to clear the cache a few times and restart many services. It should be more stable now. Note to everyone: We'll be performing the forum upgrade soon. The board might go into maintenance mode during the upgrade. Thank you for your patience!1 point

I've whitelisted the wiki since the wiki software would catch SQL injections anyway (it's true that /* */ could be used for SQL injections but if the software is well coded, it shouldn't cause issues anyway). Let me know if there are other issues with the wiki. Thanks for the report.1 point

Took the test again, since I did not understand some of the questions before especially those economic ones. Economic Left/Right: -5.0 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.31 Pretty inaccurate to me, I really see myself as more of a centric but leaning towards left and liberalism. But since the questions are just... *facepalms* I second machine here. The questions should have been more situational and specific than generalized thus making it more accurate with what you actually stand for. Thing is, we would have different scenarios playing in our own heads when we try to visualize these "generalized" questions. Like the example of machine, rich is a relative term. To the poor, normally, middle class people already encompasses the "rich". Then to the middle class, rich is those who are millionaires. Another great example which also fits the bill of being really generalized but this time, non-relativistic is the question about "Sex outside marriage", Do you mean pre-marital or like when you are already married and you cheated. On the former, it's already a social norm that if you disagree to this you are gonna be labelled this or that and you are to be hanged. But if made more specific, like let's say between couples who are in a long term relationship and do not want to or cannot settle down yet or those who cannot get married because of the law like same-sex couples as opposed to those who just do it casually. We'll definitely see a split of opinions here since that thing is still contestable. That's another thing that I also notice about the questionnaire, there's just these questions that you can't help but agree or disagree on since it's already a social norm and you'll just feel wrong if you say otherwise. Plus since the dawn of political correctness, you'll be labelled sexist, racist etc etc if you say otherwise. Like for example, the "Mothers may have careers, but their first duty is to be homemakers", that's just outright sexist. :V Why only the mother? And, another example, "my race has better qualities than the others", saying yes would definitely make you a racist. Also this, "People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce. ", just... :V On the economic left (communism/socialism) or right (capitalism), I hate how alot of questions seems to put rich people, corporations or companies in a bad light indirectly. For example, questions like "Because corporations cannot be trusted to voluntarily protect the environment, they require regulation.", "Governments should penalise businesses that mislead the public.", "Multinational companies are unethically exploiting the plant genetic resources of developing countries." etc. Two of the questions doesn't directly say that companies are greedy or evil but indirectly it does. Also: Whoever made the Political Compass test, please don't chart in people who never took the tests as example especially people like Gandhi and Hitler. It's like IQ tests all over again. Einstein and Da Vinci even Stephen Hawkings never took an IQ test yet they have these IQ scores floating around the internet. IMO, the test is definitely biased against Capitalists (right) and Conservatists/Authoritarians (top). You would mostly be classified as Liberal-Left since most of the questions, as I said, are againsts Capitalists and Conservatists. Yeah, haha, same here. I forgot exactly what my old result was. But, I'm sure my stance on economy isn't like that. My economic left/right became an oozing -5 , at least for this test.1 point

@DCW being quiet. That's pretty much expected. We lost the regular weekly translators for the series which keeps fans interested and coming back. There was a massive falloff in post volume because of that, here and at DCTP. Should a translator team return to regular release schedule, then more people will come out of the woodwork. Also the activity of the forums follows the plot pace. The plot has been quiet, and the novelty of Rum, Shuukichi, and the mystery child have worn off. (Until further changes) Lastly and perhaps most importantly, the spike in Detective Conan's popularity has worn off. Back around 2009-2011 was peak posting volume here and at DCTP. It's declined steadily since in both places to 10% of what it once was. That's because in 2009-2011, all the people who saw the English dub Case Closed on Cartoon Network in 2003 as kids and middle schoolers became highschoolers and college students which are the most active crowd as far forum posting goes. Now most of the people who watched Case Closed are adults and adult life tends to take you away from hobbies and internet pursuits. The people who remain are those who like the mystery genre and anime in general and found it through Viz Volumes, fansubs, and scanlations rather than English dubs. Many are international, because their local dubs are still airing. The chatroom gets quiet long before the general and manga subforums do because discussion there can take place at a slower place. The post quality is still very high. People are still discussing case solutions. The wiki edit rate has remained pretty steady, even though most of the major articles are nearing "completion". The site is nowhere near dying, and neither is the series. There is a lot to look forward to. I am sorry to see some of you leave. Detective Conan is a slow and steady series, and the fanbase is going match it.1 point

Hello all! I actually posted a message about the maintenance but it was not backed up (because of the hardware issues we've been having lately with the server). To sum up, there's been some changes such as: - Hardware change (new disk) - New OS and administrative tools - Hopefully more stable environment I still have to work on a remote backuping system (the local backuping process should be stable and work nicely). Since there's been an issue with the latest backup of the wiki, some changes have to be redone (from March 15 to 18). I will be updating it soon with the latest changes. Therefore, the wiki will not be editable for the time being (except by admins). Thank you for your patience and understanding! Maurice1 point
