  1. Recently it has come to my attention that now the rumor is starting to spread on Facebook. I decided to make a sticky topic in the News and updates section so that everyone can see this and we can nip this rumor in the bud ASAP. The rumor someone is passing around that Movie's 16 and 17 are going to be connected, as well as the final two movies in the franchise, is blatantly false. Nothing has been revealed about the upcoming Detective Conan movies, and we will hear nothing for a little while. The rumors came from Chinese discussion boards that are known for trolling the Conan fan community with false rumors for the sole purpose of riling fans up. Until we learn anything new, I would prefer that folks stop passing these obviously false rumors. When something new is announced, trust me, you WILL know. But until then, everything coming out right now is nothing more than a mere rumor that flat-out isn't true. Come on, guys. Ya'll should know better.

  2. Mostly for fics not posted on the forum to begin with. For me it's The Mystery of Conan Edogawa by Funvince: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4553963/1/The_Mystery_of_Conan_Edogawa Now there are many fics concerning Ran finding out that Conan is Shinichi, and I find this one really well put together for several reasons: 1. Basically the story consists of Ran doing her own detective work to prove the connection between the two which I find does more justice to the character. 2. For the sake of drama, some tend to have Ran really hating Shinichi for the deception only to calm down by the end. Or on the other end of the spectrum we have her taking deception well and just mildly ticked off. Here, her reaction is well balanced. 3. The writer even makes it plausible that Ran never really dropped her suspicion despite Conan's misdirection. 4. Heck, we even get a nice parallel to the Sherlock Holmes stories (Final Problem and The Empty House). 5. There are some nice touches in general that get ignored in the canon. One example is how Ran and Kogoro don't question why Agasa for letting Ai live with him, when he claimed that he couldn't take care of Conan. Nothing earth shattering, but it is something you'd think would be brought up. Edit Note: Many fanfics can easily be poor in quality or average at best. Some even fail to feel like the series that the writer is basing the story on, so don't just recommend a fanfic. Specify why you think it stands out. What puts it above the others in your mind?

  4. Author's Note: I've been in a depressing mood for a couple of days...which is, of course why I must take it out on my favorite characters! This one-shot is angst, angst, and more angst. Of course, as my dear readers know, I have never been much of a one-shot writer, but today, I think I'm going to get out of my comfort zone. So, if you would, please enjoy this short piece and review! Note: Hakuba's eye-color is usually brown in the anime and blue in the manga. I'm going by brown for now in order to make it easier to tell the difference between Hakuba's eyes and Kaito's eyes. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– The room was dark and silent. A large, bright red gem, known as the Crimson Flare, stood on a lonely display, a dim spotlight shining on it, giving it a sparkle. The rest of the room was thrown into complete darkness. Nothing moved, nothing sounded. But if one walked in, he or she would feel the tenseness in the air. It appeared to be empty. As all our readers know, it was not. A small bronze clock ticked in the back of the room. It looked rather old fashioned, its little hands spinning quietly. The second hand made round after round around the numbers, whilst the hour and minute hands moved ever so slightly every now and then. Suddenly, the clock struck 11. For a brief moment, the display holding the gem was covered in thick pink smoke. A white gloved hand appeared from the cloud and grasped the gem. Slowly, the pink smoke faded. A figure clad in white with a large top hat stood in the middle of the room. A white cape billowed behind him, then settled down softly. Gently, the jewel was tossed from one gloved hand to another. The man took another step towards the light and his face was just visible. His icy blue eyes peeked out from messy hair, the look in them obviously tired. There was no smile on the face, just a look of sadness and worry that seemed permanently etched in. “It's been 10 years, Kuroba.” A British man dressed in a light gray tuxedo stepped out from behind a door. His light blond hair was gently ruffled and his eyes much warmer than the ones who stared back. The thief's expression changed, a very faint smile coming to light, though his eyes remained deep and saddened. “Hakuba, it's been a while,” the thief, or rather, Kuroba Kaito, said quietly. “To what do I owe this pleasure?” He stepped towards the man, a haunted smile on his lips. “I see that none of your fellow policemen are here, and why is that? I do believe that I made it quite clear that I was going to pay a visit tonight.” “Kuroba, you know why I'm here,” Hakuba said. His brown eyes flickered with remorse and guilt. “I came to apologize.” To his surprise, the Phantom Thief's expression did not change. A teasing smile came on, a faint shadow of the smile Hakuba used to see–and hate. “Why, Hakuba, why would you need to apologize? There was nothing worth apologizing for.” For one moment, Hakuba desperately wanted to see the all-knowing, carefree smile Kuroba used to carry with him, the one that used to irk him so much, mainly because Hakuba knew he would never achieve it. As Hakuba drowned in his thoughts, the Phantom Thief stood off to a side. He opened a window and a thin wisp of moonlight came in. Carefully, Kuroba held the gem underneath the light. The jewel glimmered for a moment, then the sparkles on it dimmed. A crestfallen look appeared on Kuroba's face when suddenly, a brilliant radiance filled the room. Hakuba gave a yell as the light temporarily blinded him. Several seconds later (or 3.257 seconds, to be precise), the light faded. The gem glowed as if someone was shining a light through it, a steady and soft glow. A triumphant smirk replaced Kuroba's crestfallen face. With an almost savage look, Kuroba threw it to the ground with such force that it broke off the first layer of the gem. A smaller gem, about the size of Hakuba's fist resided in it. Hakuba couldn't quite make out the color––it seemed to change, one moment it appeared to be blue, the next green, an occasional red tossed in here and there. It seemed pristine and had apparently never been scratched. “Pandora.” Hakuba could just make out Kuroba's whisper. For a moment, the light returned to the once-happy man's eyes. Hakuba had a feeling that this jewel had been what Kuroba had been after all along, and somehow it meant a whole lot more to him than any precious jewel he had come upon in his 'career'. The glowing jewel was tucked into a concealed pocket, the red light it emitted fading as it was taken out from underneath the moonlight. Kuroba made to leave. “Hold it Kuroba. I haven't said sorry yet,” Hakuba stood in front of the Phantom Thief, staring directly into his eyes. “Well, now you have,” Kuroba said coldly. His eyes pierced Hakuba's gut as they both thought back to that fateful day. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– “Kaito! You baka!” Nakamori Aoko chased the prankster around as he teasingly leapt from place to place. He had snuck a look at you-know-where again, earning him a date with a mop. A poof of pink smoke and Kuroba Kaito was replaced by a rather triumphant looking Hakuba, or at least, he looked triumphant before he got a mouthful of mop. “Oh! Hakuba-kun!” Aoko's mop clattered to the ground, her hands at her mouth. “Gomen, Hakuba-kun!” Hakuba brushed it off with an easy smile. “No worries, Aoko-san,” he said, a smile dancing on his lips. “I've got absolutely wonderful news.” Aoko clapped her hands together, completely ignoring Kaito, who was leaning against the windowsill, looking bored. “Is it about Kaitou KID? Did you or otousan catch him?” “Yes, Aoko-san, it's about KID. Or rather, Kuroba.” Hakuba's icy eyes moved from Aoko to Kuroba, who just looked back nonchalantly. “Would you stop it with that incompetent theory that I'm KID?” he asked in a stultifying voice. “How many times do I have to prove that I'm innocent?” Aoko's excited smile also drooped. “Hakuba,” she said, wearily running her hand through her long hair, “we've been through this countless times. Whatever new evidence you have has always been proven false by Kaito. What is it now?” “I have evidence. Undeniable evidence,” Hakuba smirked. “You see, last night I drew a certain mark on Kaitou KID's gloves. The ink that I used penetrated his gloves and sank into his skin. Nobody in the world has ever used this type of ink. It is a sort of temporary glow-in-the-dark tattoo, one that lasts approximately 2 days. It cannot be washed before then.” Hakuba strode over and grabbed Kaito's hand. “If my deductions are correct, applying a bit of this liquid and then turning off the lights should result in...” Hakuba switched the lights off, “a very faint glow in the shape of the symbol of infinity.” There, on Kaito's right hand, rested the undeniable mark of infinity. A victorious Hakuba took out a pair of handcuffs. “Ready to go to jail, Kaitou KID?” A horrified look crossed over Aoko's face. In the background, Koizumi Akako cursed and mentioned something about Lucifer's predictions. “Kaito...you...surely not?” Aoko's face betrayed her hope, her desperate last hope that everything was wrong. For a moment, nobody in the classroom moved. Even the teacher stood stock-still, waiting for Kaito's answer. The tense muscles in Kaito's face relaxed, and for a fleeting moment, hope dawned on Aoko's face. Then a sad but knowing smile appeared, and Hakuba knew he had won. “Incriminating evidence, eh?” Kaito said, the odd smile still plastered to his face. Aoko's smile melted off her face. “Never expected it to happen now...nor in front of this type of audience.” “Kaito...no...please...tell me this isn't happening!” Aoko's eyes, against her will, filled with tears. A gentle smile shifted over Kaito. He leaned over and kissed her on the forehead. “I would, but that would be a lie. And I'm afraid I won't be able to lie to you any longer,” he whispered in her ear. “Kuroba Kaito, you have nowhere to run!” Hakuba said, preparing to slam handcuffs onto his classmate. “There are police outside! There's a helicopter heading over!” “Then I take my leave. But only after one thing,” Kaito turned to face the dark-haired girl who was staring at her desk, as if disbelieving that this was actually happening. “Sorry, Aoko.” –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– “She died the next year, you know,” Hakuba said, breaking the silence. “Car accident. She was...was walking home on that same date, probably thinking of you...” his voice faltered. “I know,” Kuroba said harshly. “I was at her funeral. Disguised, of course. It's hard to think...hard to think that so many people have died for this petty jewel.” His hand reached for his pocket instinctively. “Why, Kuroba, why? Why did you suffer through it all? Why didn't you tell somebody? What was all this suffering, all this pain, all this death, why did Aoko die for this?” Hakuba could feel the heat rising in his voice. He was practically yelling now. “Nobody else will die for this. I will crush this jewel and scatter its remains across the oceans,” Kuroba murmured to himself. The two stood in silence, each contemplating their own thoughts. Hakuba stared at the ground, clenching his fists. That damn Kuroba, had to go and...and do whatever he was doing for some petty jewel and some incompetent reason. Suddenly, Hakuba saw white shoes standing next to his. Brown eyes met blue. A bittersweet smile lingered on Kuroba's face. “Tell Nakamori that I will not be able to return this jewel. And that I'm sorry. I'm everlastingly sorry for what I had to do.” Hakuba was lost for words. Kuroba cared, he cared so much for Nakamori Aoko. He felt a throbbing pain in his chest for what he had done that day, revealed Kuroba's identity, killed his dreams, ruined his life. Was he any worse than a murderer? Kuroba must've had some reason for committing these crimes, some unknown and probably noble reason. And he, Hakuba, the gentleman detective, had ruined it. Ruined everything. Kuroba was hurting. He could no longer go back to the life he used to know, could no longer go back to Aoko, to his mother, to his family...all because of those words that he had announced in front of his classmates. All for a brief moment of glory. What had he done? “Remember, Hakuba, smiles and laughter are always good, but never forget your Poker Face,” Kuroba whispered as he passed by the door and into a hallway that was brilliantly lit by the moon. As Kaitou KID, or rather, Kuroba Kaito disappeared into the night under the light of the moon, Hakuba thought he saw a tear in his eye. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– I did this in FF.net format and was too lazy to edit. Please tell me if it's good, bad, okay, horrible, sucks, rocks, whatever you have to say.

  5. So, this is basically coming from the M15 thread and a bit of debate over action vs story. Hollywood has been making videos for over a century now, and in that time they have made more than a few timeless classics and just other fantastic movies that may be a bit dated, but still get the message across in a meaningful and impactful way. Now the problem is that is ISN'T just Hollywood doing this, so it is unfair to limit this thread to the realm of American cinema, so we shall discuss all forms of great and classic cinema, be it from Europe, Asia, India... Doesn't matter. Now, "classic" in terms of cinema can be broken down into two main categories, and several sub categories (I won't get into the sub categories unless it comes up in the normal discourse). The main two are "Classic works of cinema" and "Modern Classics." Both have one big thing in common, which is that you can watch them time and time again and they don't get old, no matter when you watch them (in other words, if the movie came out in the 1960's, watching it in 2011 doesn't change your experience of the movie). The reason why I have to include both is because a lot of people don't consider movies that came out in the 90s and 2000s to be classics (hell people often extend that into the 80s too), but there ARE some. So lets get this started! I'd feel inclined to start with a nice easy one... The Shawshank Redemption. The story of an innocent man who is sent to prison for double murder, and his adventures in prison. Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), the title character, must make the best of his time in prison. It has more than a few powerful messages that it conveys masterfully. It is a fantastic movie, and one which I cannot recommend enough. Especially since it was made in 1994, it is fairly modern, though it is set in 1940s. Here is the theatrical trailer: "Get busy living, or get busy dying" Open spoiler for side notes

  6. The name for M16 hasn't been released yet, so I would be skeptical of anyone who claims they know it now and everything they say. Edit: The official name was released 18-11: "The Eleventh Striker" and it has no relation to the Black Org whatsoever.

  7. Exactly, and cut about 75 chapters of filler out in the middle. The pacing in this arc has been terrible, plot all at once and then none at all.

  8. This is more of an off-topic observation then anything else mind you... Regardless of whom he is or what his role in the plot is, I wish Gosho had thrown Amuro (and Sera for that matter) at us ages ago. We've had Subaru lurking in the shadows for what seems to be forever now, and then later we were introduced to Scar Akai. Concerning those two, the story's pacing seemed rather slow, but recently, Gosho seems to be throwing everything at us all at once. If the Bourbon Arc is starting to wrap up, it will leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Of course, that is assuming everything will be coming to an end shortly after File 800.

  9. Well, folks, it's been a really long wait, but at long last, I present to you... THE DCW FAMILY CHART! *pauses to let the hype sink in* The chart, in its full glory, is located here, but the chart is also located in the spoiler below! It was quite tiring to sort through every last PM and email I got. To ease my workload and make the chart look nicer, all relationships involving siblings through a similar parent and cousin relationships have been slashed. You can note that there is not a single "Cousin" relationship. Note: Since the possibility that I left something out is there, I will give everyone exactly 24 hours to PM me with any relationships I neglected (besides cousins), and may heaven forbid, add people I've forgotten. Any revisions will be present in the "final draft" that will be placed in the first post. The "final draft" will be published in 24 hours. Look for any mistakes. This is your last chance!

  11. I'd like to thank everyone for copying their deductions over into this thread. I'm with everyone else that he's a strong Bourbon candidate. I like the idea of him owning a detective agency instead of coming up with work as needed. (Later edit: This turned out not to be the case though.) Amuro Tohru is Bourbon is Scar Akai See also the DCTP link. Also consider referencing the Bourbon is Scar Akai theory. Index Amuro is Bourbon is Scar Akai . . . Direct Evidence . . . Literary device arguments . . . Minor points - i.e. weak arguments Miscellaneous . . . Amuro is not Akai . . . Amuro is not a spy infiltrating the Black Organization - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Direct Evidence ∎ Amuro is a skilled detective, yet chooses unethical courses of action that are harmful to others. Amuro is a detective and very skilled at intelligence gathering as Bourbon was stated to be. That said, unlike other detectives so far, Amuro is a calculating type who chooses avoidable courses of action (or non-action) that may result in harm to others that the "ethical detectives" in the series would have found unconscionable. • Amuro doesn't intervene when a suspect he knows to be innocent is half a step from destroying his exonerating evidence because it seems he was testing Kogoro. . . . . Although it appeared he messed up in his introductory case, Amuro likely threw case on purpose to test Kogoro/Conan (depending on how much he knows) which will be explained below. While other characters have tested detectives by throwing cases before (ex. Sera and Conan, Hattori and Conan), what makes this case different from the others is that Amuro was prepared to let the innocent suspect destroy the proof of his evidence had Kogoro (really Conan) not intervened at the last second. This kind of recklessness was not warranted because Kogoro had given no indication of understanding the case or noticing the clues, and Conan has not spoken up about the critical clue either. . . . . Amuro deliberately antagonizes the main suspect, Banba, who is drunk, by accusing him of being his fiancé's murderer. Banba into goaded into rushing him, so Amuro dodges and trips Banba. The condition of the bottom of Banba's shoes is important for the case, and Amuro asks Kogoro to hold Banba's legs. This whole interaction suggests that Amuro knew the bottom on Banba's shoes was important to the case, yet he seemed to overlook the now visible information on the bottom of the shoes that would have proved Banba's innocence. . . . . Later, Banba is about to be lead away and the clue destroyed by walking outside in the rain. Amuro's "..." (795.4) as Banba prepares to leave seems to indicate that he is waiting for Kogoro to intervene, yet Amuro does not try to stop Banba when Kogoro does nothing even as Banba is halfway out the door. After Kogoro begins his deduction, Amuro explains the genetic condition that the dead fiancé had in great detail without using any references perhaps indicating he may have known about it or suspected it beforehand. . . . . Assuming Amuro purposefully got his deduction wrong, that means Amuro didn't speak up even at the last minute when Banba was about to go outside and inadvertently destroy the critical clue showing his innocence. If you think about it, this kind of behavior isn't normal for good detectives in DC. Good detectives never want innocent suspects to be accused even if this means more trouble for the detective to prove it (unless they have told the police ahead of time they are doing a trick and are trying to get the real culprit to incriminate themselves). This shows that Amuro isn't like the normal DC detectives, but is calculating instead. • Amuro noticed that Conan was alone with a murderer and considered that Conan might have been kidnapped, yet said nothing about it until others realized Conan and the murder suspect were gone. . . . . Amuro's calculating behavior is further shown when he disregards Conan's safety in pursuit of a case connected to the murder at Mouri Detective Agency. Amuro had already deduced a particular suspect was the likely the culprit, and thus she was bad news. Later, he notices her and Conan's shoes are missing, and that Conan hasn't appeared in some time. It is impossible for him not to have guessed that Conan went with the likely murderer, but instead he fails to bring it up. Only later when the others draw the same conclusion does Amuro reveal his thoughts. This failure to care about Conan is obvious when contrasted to everyone panicking. ∎ Amuro went missing when Scar Akai appeared. Amuro had just learned about Sera before she was targeted by Scar Akai. He was absent from his job at the Poirot when Scar Akai appeared outside the detective agency in 801 where Sera was walking, likely to "test" her as he did with the FBI. Also 800 was Amuro's first time encountering Sera (recently) as far as we know. Scar Akai wouldn't be able to pinpoint Sera without knowing who she was associating with and where she hangs out, both of which Amuro learned in 800. ∎ Amuro matches Gin's description of his personality. Gin said Bourbon was irritating. (V67-8 pg 13-14). Amuro has a type of personality Gin would not like because Amuro acts cheerful and friendly. Amuro does not hide his emotions and is quite expressive. He is also manipulative. Amuro is also a good detective. ∎ Amuro is much richer than would be expected for his job. When Amuro offers Kogoro an unknown "tuition" per case Kogoro brings him on, the amount he offers is enough to get Kogoro excited and accept Amuro as an apprentice without hesitation. This is strange because Amuro would not be expected to have much money because he is young, lacks a formal agency, and works part time at restaurants in one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in. Amuro also owns a nice car (RX-7), and maintenance, parking, and upkeep are not cheap. ∎ Amuro placed himself close to the Mouri Detective Agency. Scar Akai is known to be interested in the agency as well. Amuro has an interest in the Mouri Detective Agency shown by him taking a part time job at the Poirot and asking to be Kogoro's apprentice despite being a better detective than Kogoro which Ran points out. Amuro will be able to access the agency and track Kogoro and Conan's movements with relative ease. Bourbon should have an interest in Kogoro/Conan because Scar Akai has seen two Conan cases as well as saw fit to keep Kogoro's cellphone number with him. Kogoro's number was on Kir's phone, whom Bourbon should suspect to be a traitor if he believes Akai is not dead. Scar Akai thinks the Mouri Detective agency may be related to Akai. If we consider what Gin said about Bourbon is true, that he doesn't believe Akai is dead, that means Bourbon’s logic requires Kir to be a traitor who assisted somehow in making it seem like she killed Akai because trying to come up with a plausible way Akai could survive where Kir doesn't knowingly participate is practically impossible. Bourbon (as Scar Akai) has done investigation on Kir, he knew Kogoro's cellphone number somehow in order to text Kogoro the answer in the 13 red shirts case. I looked back through prior cases, and a few clients have phoned through Kogoro's cellphone as part of a case, but no new clients first contact Kogoro using it. That leads me to believe that Kogoro’s cellphone is likely a private number given out as needed, while his main business number is his landline. So where did Scar Akai get Kogoro’s number? The likely answer is from Kir’s cellphone, which Kogoro texted his bank routing number to after the Ding Dong Dash. Kir’s cellphone was left in Gin’s car when Kir changed clothes and we don’t know what happened to it after Kir was captured by the FBI. If Akai’s closest FBI friends don’t seem to know that Akai is still alive, then Bourbon needs to find other suspects. Kogoro was involved with Kir, is intelligent (according to the news), and was suspected of being involved with the FBI earlier although seemingly cleared by Akai’s intervention. So Bourbon starts looking for excuses to check on Kogoro. You could possibly add Conan to the equation as well if you consider Scar Akai observed Conan making a very good deduction and at least heard him using a voice changer during the Teito Bank heist. ∎ Amuro keeps a bug detector with him - only Organization members have been shown to do this. Amuro conveniently keeps a bug detector with him. The Black Org has been shown to keep those on hand (24-8/239), while normal detectives like Conan do not. ∎ Amuro's physical characteristics match those of Bourbon and Scar Akai. • Amuro Tohru is right-handed like scar Akai. • He is male as the codename Bourbon implies. The naming scheme is hard liquors for men and Kir used a male specific pronoun (kare) for him back in the red shirts case. • He is young enough to rival with Akai and be new to codename (29). • He has the right body size, height, and face shape to disguise as Scar Akai. Literary device arguments ∎ Amuro's name origin is a pun on the mortal enemy of Akai's name origin Amuro Tohru's name is a pun on Amuro Ray who is the mortal enemy/rival of Char Aznable. Furuya Tohru voiced Amuro. Akai is named after Char Aznable (The Red Comet) and his voice actor Shuuichi Ikeda. Bourbon hates Akai, so naming Bourbon after Amuro makes sense. As further proof, Amuro Tohru drives a white RX-7. Amuro Ray flew a white RX-78-2 Gundam. ∎ There was a Bourbon plot reminder in Amuro's introductory case. In chapter 793, one of the case suspects orders a bourbon on the rocks from Amuro. While the drink itself is unrelated to the case, nor has any relation to Amuro's identity, it may be a deliberate reminder to think about the Bourbon plot. Minor points - i.e. weak arguments • Amuro wears black. He changes into a black outfit when out of uniform (796). • Amuro mentions some Akai and Scar Akai themed clothing Amuro's hypothetical disguise suggestion in 795, a knit cap and long windbreaker, are articles of clothing Shuichi Akai and Scar Akai wear respectively. • Amuro's dark skin color may have been revealed when Scar Akai's duct tape was ripped off. If you look at the below picture, what we assumed may have been shadow may have been Scar Akai's real skin color that was revealed when the tape disrupted the mask/coloring (whatever Amuro used to change his skin color). Miscellaneous Amuro is not Akai • Amuro's handedness differs from Akai's. I think that Amuro is right handed, while Akai seems to be left-handed. • Conan does not recognize Amuro or treat him like they have met ever Assuming Conan helped with the plan to fake Akai's death (likely because of the cellphones) it is strange that Conan shows no recognition of Amuro if Amuro is Akai. Even if Akai had hidden his role from Conan, you would think something would have tipped off Conan by now. • Amuro tests Kogoro which the real Akai would not need to do because Akai knows Conan runs the show. If Amuro was Akai, then there would be no need to test Kogoro's intelligence because Akai knows about Conan's gadgets and intelligence already. Some of Amuro's decisions would also seem uncharacteristic for Akai. Not mentioning something to Ran or Kogoro about Conan disappearing at the same time as a murderer is one. Akai has had to directly or indirectly bail Conan out twice for getting in over his head (Vermouth and Org vs FBI), so trusting Conan to be safe wouldn't be expected. Another would be coming very close to having an innocent suspect accused, assuming Amuro threw the exploding car case on purpose. • Akai doesn't have a good motive for becoming Mouri's apprentice. The motive for becoming Mouri's apprentice is also unclear if Amuro is Akai. Couldn't he move in nearby or stick with working part time in Poirot without becoming an apprentice? Why not start working directly at the Poirot instead of going through another restaurant? Why leave Haibara out of the picture? • It would be really hard for Amuro to alter his skin color to Akai's and vice versa. Amuro/Akai would have to use a relatively long term, even-coloring, abuse-tolerating disguise that darkens his skin color. Tanning is one method, but it is difficult to get a tan with complete coverage. (in the folds of the ears, on the scalp.) How dark is Amuro's skin anyway? A skin stain to darken skin on the hands, face, and neck is possible, but difficult and would likely require a professional to apply which leaves a witness. A mask would work for the face and neck (who would make these masks though?), but waitering involves hand abuse and spilled liquids and there is no such thing as a latex mask for hands. Amuro is not a spy infiltrating the Black Organization If Amuro is a spy, it will be difficult to account for his actions so far, some of which have been dangerous without good reason. If Amuro is a spy he is highly unethical and/or works for someone no good. . . . . If Amuro is infiltrating as Bourbon, it is strange for a spy to be sidetracked by hating and/or hunting down Akai. I doubt something like that would be sanctioned by any intelligence agency Amuro might belong to, nor would they tolerate Amuro getting off course on it as it seems completely unnecessary to Amuro's infiltration mission. If the hating Akai thing is an act (it would have to be a good one) or Amuro was a spy for a less than reputable group, like a rival Organization, his behavior might be overlooked. . . . . In contrast to Kir only doing bad things she is forced to do, Amuro makes negative decisions without prompting. If Amuro intentionally threw his introductory case to test Mouri as described above in the direct evidence section, that's a strike against him. The suspect was halfway out the door with the critical clue and Amuro didn't stop him. Amuro also recklessly disregards Conan's safety in pursuit of a case connected to the murder at Mouri Detective Agency, also described above in the direct evidence section. . . . . If Amuro is Scar Akai, he probably isn't a double agent for a lawful agency because disguising as Scar Akai is threatening Hidemi's safety for no reason that appears to be relevant to continued infiltration. Even if Amuro didn't know about Hidemi, he deliberately endangered civilians by wandering around in crowded public places dressed as Akai whom the Black Org really wants to kill. In the red shirts case, Chianti and Korn were stationed so that they would fire into crowds because of Scar Akai's actions. This rules out pretty much all the intelligence agencies, assuming Amuro is not a half-rogue agent. . . . . So far Gosho hasn't hinted at any intelligence agencies or other organizations. In the Vermouth arc the FBI was both hinted at by Jodie ("'The Bureau' is short for the FBI") and then appeared directly with Akai. The Kir arc's CIA appeared in clues related to "The Company", the pun on NOC, and a CIA stock phrase Hidemi used. Nothing similar has happened in the Bourbon arc so far.
