  6. A/N: So this isn’t my usual Kaito Shinichi thing. It’s just that I believe we need more Haibara and Akako stories here. (I swear Chelsea cast a spell on me, forcing me to write this.) But tell me if you like it. I know it isn’t so good, so please be brutally honest with me. If you notice anything wrong—grammar problems, lack of detail, or anyone acting OOC—please point them out, okay? I don’t mind flames, really. o0o “Haibara, I need to ask you something,” said Conan, slowly turning to face her after minutes of staring out the window with a blank gaze. A week had passed since he and Professor Agasa returned from London, where he helped solve a case for the Grass Court Queen, strolled though his idol’s hometown, and somehow managed to keep his identity a secret from Ran. It was tough, involving a chase down the streets of England, but several pills of the temporary antidote aided by a few cheesy lines did the trick. Such a busy week took a toll on his child body and he needed a whole day to recuperate. He was tired. Strained mentally, physically, and emotionally, he needed to escape from reality. But how could he, when every morning when he took a shower he would stare into the mirror and see himself hopelessly trapped in his child form. He envisioned himself watching Ran and his classmates grow older and getting married while he was stuck in this body. How long would he have to endure this? Months? Years? He shuddered at the thought. Until now, he still hadn’t defeated the Boss and Haibara hadn’t hit on the right formula for the antidote. This was becoming extremely frustrating, especially for the Kudou Shinichi, High School Detective of the East. There is only one truth, he would say each time he solved a case, but why couldn't he discover that ever-elusive truth in his own life? “What is it?” replied Haibara in her usual tone devoid of feeling. “About the pills you gave me last time…” his voice began to trail off. “What about them?” “Do you—I mean, how long do you think will it take before you finally develop the antidote? A few months? A year? I just want to know.” Haibara folded her arms with a sigh. “Do you want me to be completely honest with you?” “Yes.” Conan’s steely gaze spoke volumes, and Haibara deliberated for a moment whether to tell him the truth. Taking a deep breath, she mouthed her brief reply. “Probably never.” Conan stared at her speechless with disbelief. He felt like his world suddenly caved in on him. Haibara paused to let the full reality sink in. “And even if I do, there’s no guarantee that Gin and his men will spare your life.” “W-what are you saying? That I should give up already?” “Simply put, don’t expect too much. You might only be disappointed.” “How can you say that so—so—heartlessly?” he raised his voice exasperatedly. “Don’t you know what this means to me? Can’t you realize that if I don’t regain my real body, my life will be ruined forever! And Ran will—Ran will…” “Leave you? You fear that she will tire of waiting for you?” He remained silent, struggling to keep control of himself. “I know you’re desperate to return to normal, but there’s nothing I can do for you now,” Haibara told him directly. “You—how can you say that? All this was your fault! If you never developed this drug, then I wouldn’t have to suffer like this! I would be a regular high school detective and I wouldn’t need to keep lying to Ran! Do you even know how much I put Ran through because of you and your organization?” She clenched her fists. She could feel her whole body trembling. “Was she the only one who suffered? I was hurt, too!” she screamed and ran away sobbing. “Oy, Haibara! Wait!” Conan called to her, but she slammed the door and disappeared into the night. Braving the deathly chill of the night, Haibara ran blindly, wiping away hot tears, stumbling twice. She felt a stinging pain in her left knee. “Ow!” she groaned, then forced herself to get up. Ignoring the pain, she ran on as fast as she could. She just wanted to be alone, away from everyone else, away from him… He doesn’t understand! No one understands! Moments later, she bumped into someone. She rubbed her eyes and faced the stranger. “Hello there, little girl. Why are you crying?” the teenage girl asked, flicking her magenta hair back. “I’m not—I’m just…He…” she replied in a choky voice. “Oh? I guy made you cry? Listen now, girls shouldn’t cry because of trifles such as that.” “Who are you?” Haibara asked curiously. “I’m a student in Ekoda High.” “Ekoda? And why are you here?” “Oh, I felt the need to get away and think.” Akako replied casually. She proceeded to scrutinize Haibara from head to toe. Something was unusual about the girl’s aura. “You aren’t who you appear to be,” she announced at last. “What is seen is only a façade. The real you lies beneath a mask.” Haibara blinked twice. How did she guess? “What makes you think so?” “OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!! I know because I am a witch. I can see into your very soul.” “A witch possessing real magic? Sorry but I don’t buy into that,” Haibara replied skeptically. “I see you do not believe me. You do not believe in magic.” “Magic only works for dreamers. Science is for realists. Because of science, lives are saved,” …and destroyed. Because of the drug, I ruined his life. “What can magic do?” “Magic gives its possessor the power to control people’s minds and make them slaves,” was Akako’s mysterious reply. “Why would anyone desire that? Why are people hungry for power to the extent that they sacrifice countless lives in the search for it?” Why did Gin have to kill my sister? Why do people seek to gain power? Akako was caught off guard and tried to evade the question. “Your thoughts are deep. You cannot possibly be the girl you seem to be.” “Why do you want to control others?” Haibara pressed. I…because...“They should serve me. I am a witch and witches deserve to get whatever they want.” A witch, I’m not sure. A brat, definitely, Haibara thought. “So you do need something from them. What is it that you want so badly?” “What I want most is—is…” Akako could think only of the one thing she desired most: Kaito’s heart. She wanted him to love her. He was the only person in the whole world whose heart she could not take by force. She smiled understandingly. “Are you addressing me alone or yourself as well?” It was Haibara’s turn to be surprised. “What do you mean?” Akako gazed upward. Thousands of brilliant stars stretched across the horizon on that clear night. “You and I basically desire the same thing. Something which is not ours to keep. Yet still we keep wishing.” Haibara followed her gaze. The evening sky was such a beautiful sight, indeed. She lowered her gaze to face Akako. “And that thing is?” “You should know the answer.” Presently, they heard shouts. Conan and Professor Agasa were nearby. “It was nice meeting you, but I should leave now. Although the odds are against us, we keep on dreaming. It is not wrong to wish. I believe that if one wishes with all her heart and soul, it will surely be granted someday. Let’s meet again when that day arrives,” were Akako’s parting remarks as she turned to leave. Haibara turned around. Sure enough, she could see Conan and the professor waving to her. She looked back to say goodbye to the stranger, but Akako had already gone, as mysteriously as she had appeared. “Who was she? What are you doing here? We’ve been looking all over for you! Next time, don’t just run off all of a sudden!” Conan scolded her. “Sorry to be a burden, tantei-san,” Haibara replied emotionlessly. She took a deep breath and walked past him. “Oy! Where are you heading now?” “Back to Hakase’s house. Is there a problem with that?” What an annoying girl… “What’s wrong with her?” he asked Professor Agasa. He just shrugged. “Ai-kun! Wait up!” Ai. Love. Sorrow. Love brings with it much sorrow, but that sorrow strengthens love. She was always hurting inside. The wound she tried her hardest to close would reopen time and time again, bringing with it a raw ache. But it was all part of being human—loving, feeling pain, and waiting. In her heart, she promised that mysterious stranger that she would not give up. Although caring and loving hurt, she would continue to hope. A gentle breeze whipped up her hair. She looked up to see a shooting star streak across the sky. Maybe I could make a little wish. She sighed. “I’m starting to believe in magic.”

  8. Update : 'This will go on a big hiatus ! Thanks for all the help for editing and stuff ! Warning ! This is a ShinShi fanfic ! If you don't like ShinShi I recommend you don't read this ! Disclaimer I don't own anything from DC. All the names I used belong to their rightfull owner. A/N This is my first FanFic hope you will like it. If you have any critic or tips please tell me. It's 8 am in the morning, when the sun shines at it brightest. Shinichi wokes up and greeted his wife. “Good morning, Shiho my dear.” ”Ah,” she moaned softly. Shiho walked to Shinichi and gave him a kiss. *smooch* She then hugged Shinichi and said a bit sarcastically, “Oh, so a non-romantic guy like you actually likes kisses?” Shinichi pretended to frown and said, “Naturally I like it cause it was from you.” Suddenly, Shinichi's cellphone began to ring. He scrambled to pick it up and instantly heard Takagi's voice on the line. "Shinichi, come as fast as you can! We have a case!" After mentally jotting down the details, Shinichi shoved the phone in his pocket and turned to Shiho. “I need to go, Dear!” he said with an ounce of regret. “See you tonight!” Shiho smiled in understanding. “Another case?” Shinichi nodded. “Duty calls!” oOo Shinichi ran as fast as he could to the crime scene, hoping to prevent any further killing from taking place. After finding the evidence which pointed to the real murderer, he set out to locate him. Half an hour later, he located his target, but the culprit ran way. Shinichi chased him down town, but lost him in a crowd. At last, he pinpointed his location: it was a restaurant across the street. The Great Detective hurried to stop him from attempting to escape, without giving a thought to his own safety. Suddenly, he heard a honking noise. Glancing around, he saw to his horror that a huge black truck was headed his way. He tried to turn back, but it was too late. It crashed with full force into his body. Shinichi saw a man covered in white with a guy covered in black next to him. Shinichi breathed his last breath and said, “Shiho ..I...L…o…v…e…You…and collapsed backwards into the ground. The Great Detective of the East was no more. When Inspector Megure and Takagi heard about the accident, they hurried over to the scene and confirmed for themselves. ”Takagi, contact his wife,” Megure ordered. Takagi was shocked and instinctively replied with a “Yes!” His fingers were trembling as he dialed the number. Back at home, Shiho was typing on her computer when the phone rang. Getting up from her seat, she rushed to pick it up. "Hello, Kudo residence. How may I help you?" "Hello, is this Kudo Shinichi's wife?" came a nervous voice from the other end. "Why, yes it is. Is this Officer Takagi?" she asked. "Yes, Maam. I called to say that your husband--" "What's wrong with my husband? Did something bad happen to him?" Shiho asked anxiously. "I'm sorry to say that we found him lying unconscious on the street. It appears that he met an accident while investigating a crime scene," Takagi slowly explained the painful truth. "No!" she screamed. Impossible. He couldn’t have died so easily! "I'm really sorry, Maam. We rushed him to the hospital. You should come at once." "I will." She put the phone down with trembling fingers. Tears slid down her cheek and she began to sob. Shinichi, please be safe, she cried, rushing outside to hail a taxi. oOo When she reached the hospital, nurses and attendants were rushing around. One of them took her to her husband's room, where she saw the police officers gathered around Shinichi's lifeless body. “Madam please stay calm,” Megure tried to calm her down. How can I be calm if my man died!" she screamed, choking back tears. “Why…why...why does he need to die? My dear Shinichi, why did you leave me!" Her tears kept flowing freely and no one could stop her. oOo Three days later, the funeral was held in Beika city. The sky was cloudy and it began to rain. You could hear the soft patter of the raindrops going tik...tok..tik.tak.tok..tik...tok. As Shinichi was lowered into the grave, Ran passed by and cried, saying, "Shinichi, you were my childhood friend and my one best friend and I will really miss you." Mouri, who was known to hate Shinichi still said respectfully, “You were a good detective. I hope you have a nice time in heaven.” Inspector Megure said, “Shinichi we will miss you” and saluted with officers Sato and Takagi at his side. Professor Agasa could not control his tears from flowing down his cheeks. "Shinichi, you were like a grandson to me. I will miss you just as much as your parents will." His parents stood before the grave stared at the coffin. They cried for ten minutes before saying farewell to their brave son. "I will miss you terribly, my son. You will always be in our hearts. For me, you will always be the greatest detective there ever was," said Yusaku. "Shin-chan, maybe you can tour us around Heaven when we die," Yukiko tried to joke. "You need to take care of yourself or I will come and get you!" She fought to hold back her tears but could not. He was her only son and she, along with everyone else, would surely miss him. After everyone had the chance to lay flowers and say their last goodbyes, the Priest followed the necessary procedures, then at last gave the command to close the grave. Finally, a stone memorial was erected on top. Hope you have enjoyed it! There gonna be a continuation. Update Thanks for all the critic. I will update this once in while after i have found flaws in it. It will become better and better.

  9. I bet you were a freshman like 3 months ago... But I agree with you on the "people who have no heart" and "inconsiderate people". Also, people who think they are better than everyone else annoy the hell out of me.

  10. Yeah... The way the world works sometimes is really cruel. You'll treat a person just like any other because you think they're normal, but once they tell you they're gay or they're lesbian, you'll push them away because you think they're too strange, even if you enjoyed their company or whatever. I mean, most of the kids in my school have pretty much accepted it by now, but the rest of the world still needs to change. I know it's against religion and whatever... but it's only wrong if you think it is.

  13. I pretty much agree with all of the above.I think Akai never told James what he was up to because of the exchange between James and Akai right before Akai went to meet Rena; however, James has been shown to be a decent reader of people. James is usually the one informing other characters about why the various FBI members act the way they do, like Akai becoming more closed off because of Akemi's death, and Jodie being sensitive about Akai's death because they were a pair. I think he knows Akai well enough to suspect his strange behavior at the time indicated that he had a plan and James hasn't lost all trust in Akai yet. Bonus points if James noticed Rikumichi's body was gone because someone should be keeping track of stuff like that, and as leader of the FBI action, James would be first to hear that the body went missing.

  15. Cool. All my detectives except the main character are guys, as it's a boy's school. But The main character is under the Civil Protection Program (Made that up, similar to witness protection) and is undercover as a student, so none of them really have longer hair.

  17. Hi everyone, I know many of you are probably thinking I've been a hard-ass lately, and I want to apologize for appearing that way. What I won't apologize for is the reason it's happening. It's incredibly rude to have any individual image within a signature take up most of the length of one's window. I know you love your pictures, and I appreciate them too, but it's distracting, and it disrupts the flow of the boards. (It's less of a big deal in an actual post, because it's the focus of the post... and the forum shrinks it automatically) So I ask that you please look at the image you're linking before you click "update profile". As many know, you will get a message if I see large images. I know I'm not the only one who keeps her monitor at factory-set screen resolution. Thank you.
