Rei Masunaga (増永 麗 Masunaga Rei?) is a japanese animation director and character designer main known for her work in Detective Conan. She was formerly affiliated with Studio Boomerang.

Works in Detective Conan

Rei Masunaga started being active as animator in 1994 and became key animator in 1995. She joined the Detective Conan animation team in 1996 and started as a key animator in episode 34. She then started working regularly in the episodes in which Keiko Sasaki is the animation director.

Since late 2003, Keiko Sasaki became irregular animator for Studio Boomerang, thus Rei Masunaga was promoted as animation director, starting with episode 345 under Sasaki's supervision. In 2010, Chiemi Hironaka was appointed as regular animation director for Studio Boomerang, thus Masunaga stopped being animation director and continuedd to work as key animator starting episode 568.

In 2014, Masunaga left Studio Boomerang and joined TMS Entertainment's animation team, and since then has taken various positions including key animation, sub-character design, and animation director. She was notably assistant animation director in movie 23 and movie 26.
