Case

Situation

Riding in a taxi driven by Kogoro-superfan Genki Ishikawa, Conan and Kogoro travel to Furai City to attend an event organized by the city. They had supposedly been recommended to be special guests of the event by Megure, but Megure himself denies any knowledge of this. Megure adds that, recently, a series of mysterious jewel robberies have occurred in the metropolitan area...

Serial robberies and attempted smuggling?

Stolen items: A heap of expensive rings, necklaces, and crowns

There is no sign of them being sold domestically. Therefore, it is likely that these stolen items will be smuggled out of the country.

Since there has been no sign of the jewelry being sold domestically, the police thought the crime boss would attempt to smuggle them out of the country, and therefore set up the blockades in order to capture him. However, a strange robber in which nothing was stolen, and the thieves were captured so easily catches the attention of Megure, making him think that someone is toying the police.

Conan is able to figure out that the recent events were a distraction, the boy asks Megure and his subordinates to come to the Furai city’s Frozen Foods factory, where he, Kogoro, Ran, and Ishikawa are to capture the thieves trying to steal the real treasure. As the Mouris arrive with Ishikawa’s taxi, Megure informs them that the police have caught the wrong target, as the thieves were just elderly thieves-for-hire, with the shortest one having a sudden heart attack and was sent to the hospital.

Culprits: Four well-dressed men

Just then, a group of 4 well-dressed men come out with a container attached with 4 drones, and the results for the four are not good, obviously. But the drones suddenly activate, forcing Conan and Ishikawa into the pursuit for the jewelry.

The crime boss hid the jewels stolen into a container of a frozen foods factory in Furai city, so they can smuggle them in the form of the factory’s products.

The recent robbery in which nothing was stolen acts as a diversion for Megure, while the event Kogoro is invited acts as a diversion for the great detective. Meanwhile, the crime boss and his elderly robbers perform a distraction so that "group of well-dressed thieves" can take the jewels container easily without the interference of the police.

And once the container has been taken out, the crime boss of the whole plot, old man, control the drones to fly it to the hospital where he was taken to after faking his heart attack.

Genki Ishikawa's colleagues offering helps to find the "flying" container

Conan and Ishikawa are able to catch on with the drones thanks to Ishikawa’s colleagues’ help. However, when Conan pursues him up to the rooftop of the hospital, old man jumps out of the building and lands onto the container with drones. He plans to fly the container to a boat as part of his escape plan, but his intentions are stopped when Ishikawa decides to perform a mid-air crash off of a road bridge and onto the container with his taxi, causing the criminal to lose his balance and fall into the arms of Megure, who then declares: Crime Boss arrested at 4:15 P.M!

Aftermath

Aside from the potential reward Ishikawa can get for help in subduing the crime boss, he also receives a stern scolding from Megure due to his reckless actions. Still, Ishikawa decides to enjoy the Mayor Fried Food Combo emcee the homemade frozen costume test with the Mouri family, obviously, without the fried food costumes. But his joy has to be postponed until he moves his taxi onto another parking location.
