Rokuro Oshiba told Ren Tsubota off because the latter plagiarised the sooner’s work, which was somehow discovered by Koiwai, and mentioned that he and Tsubota were not equal collaborators. Ren Tsubota was infuriated when Oshiba could have perceived him that way, and decided to kill Oshiba. He killed Koiwai because he was afraid that his career would be over once the plagiarism scandal is made public.
