Masatomo Sudo (須藤 昌朋 Sudō Masatomo), born January 28, 1961, in Hokkaido, is a Japanese anime director, and character designer. He is best known for designing characters for the anime series Detective Conan and for his involvement with the anime series Lupin III. He is the character designer for the Detective Conan anime series since its inception in 1996, except for a short period of four years from episodes 356 to 504, where the work was done by Mari Tominaga. He also works as character designer and chief animation director for the movies. Later, he also worked as character design supervisor for Zero's Tea Time anime. Active since 1980, he landed irregular animation jobs for various series before being animation director for the first time in 1994. Shortly after, his career expanded, and he joined the Detective Conan production team. While still being the character designer for the series, he worked with other television animation projects in the 2000s, including Hamtaro, Angel Heart and Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple.
