Situation
Kogoro Mouri had previously received a request from a woman named Satsuki Makabe about an ill speaking note, so he is now observing the man who could have done it. After he gets out of the elevator, Kogoro enters the elevator and sees a similar one, so he assumes that man was the culprit, but Kogoro has to take him back to the Detective Agency when he doesn’t admit his wrongdoing. There, Satsuki reveals that he is her younger brother named Yuto Makabe. Yuto blames his sister for not lending him money when he was in financial trouble, which angers Satsuki and she slaps him. Kogoro initially plans to take him to the police station, but Satsuki decides to make Yuto sign a contract not to bother her again, although after he leaves, she tears up the contract, thinking that it might continue.
A few days later, the police receive a case where a notorious and debauched man who lived off his family's vast fortune named Ryoichi Doba is found dead in his apartment. Soon after, Megure finishes a call from an anonymous person saying that a woman had talked to the victim about her grudge against him, Takagi and Chiba inform Megure that they have found 10 people who have grudges against the victim, with one of them being Satsuki Makabe.
The next day, while interrogating Satsuki, Megure mentions the accident caused by Doba led to the death of Satsuki's fiancé Kensuke Tateishi as the reason why she is one of the suspects. She claims that she was in Ochibadai at the time of the murder and Yuto can confirm this because they met at Ochibadai Station, however, her younger brother confirms that he never went to Ochibadai and that he was home that day. So she turns to Kogoro again, this time it seems to the two, and Conan (and some of us) that Yuto is lying and they need to find a way to get him to tell the truth.

- Doba's car in the accident three years ago was a Toyota Supra, 4th Generation. Its license plate was 新宿 332, ち 30-01 (Shinjuku 332, Chi 30-01). His car is later an Audi TT Mk3. Its license plate is 新宿 331, ね 92-12 (Shinjuku 331, Ne 92-12).
