The Wandering Red Butterfly (さまよえる赤い蝶 Samayoeru Akai Chō) is the second episode of the Gosho Aoyama's Collection of Short Stories OVA series. It was first aired in December 24, 1998 by Yomiuri TV and released in VHS on March 17, 1999. Unlike the others in this series, it is only 7 minutes long.
This episode adapts the The Wandering Red Butterfly story from Gosho Aoyama's Collection of Short Stories, with Yusaku Kudo and Yukiko Kudo taking the roles. Yusaku Kudo has received a message from his wife, Yukiko. She wants him to find out where she is, for a date, as well as test his detective skills.

Plot
Yusaku receives a phone call from a mysterious woman. She gives him many hints to her location. Yusaku records the conversation, and uses the clues to find the woman. His first conclusion leads him to a hotel, but it soon turns out he's wrong when an old woman comes up and chews him out. Yusaku then continues his search.

- The animated version of this short story is much different (and longer) than the manga version. The detective in the original story was named Yusaku Kitakata who ends up meeting a woman at the cinema who resembles Chikage Kuroba.
- Wait For Me and The Santa Claus of Summer were the two films showing at the Go-Show-Cinema.
- The pamphlet is the cover of the original manga release of Gosho Aoyama's Short Stories.
