AnimeOtakuDrew 17 Report post Posted November 3, 2016 I am curious how an ellipsis is technically supposed to be written. I generally we it simply as "..." However, all of my teachers and professors throughout my school career always taught that it should be spaced, like " . . . " (that is, a space both before and after each .). Another thing I was always taught is that, any time a colon is used, or a period at the end of a sentence (but not for a period after abbreviations), there should actually be two spaces rather than just one. Using only one space after each sentence or colon is actually something I am guilty of in all of my writing except my stories, where I carefully observe all of the rules of punctuation and grammar I was taught.
