I just remember this one case where there's this room with masks and the group were separated into two blocks with the mask room in the middle and there's no way for people to cross over or something like that. That is one. There are more. But I forgot. :V

Kindaichi? Which one? :V (Cant remember which episodes on DC is similar) EDITS: I do remember this case about masks. Environment seems similar, but the plots seem to be a little different.

I think, probably Gosho works cases from facts? For example he learnt that this flower produces a kind of pollen which gives a particular kind of effect or something, and he tries to make a case out of knowing this? So he could have needed to do lots of readings. (If you realised, he is using lesser and lesser of unique facts in comparison to the beginning where he makes Conan spout all sorts of weird facts which 'he heard from tv').

Actually, mobile phones were already existing then~ It just isn't that popular. I suppose the reason that he wanted a badge for communication was not because there aren't any mobile phones at that time. Agasa is a 'genius' scientist, so it isn't impossible for him to invent phones for the kids. What I feel, is that it would be suspicious for them to carry phones around, that is why Agasa made them carry a badge which is small and portable, at no cost, and not suspicious. Of course if it was now, Agasa would probably give them something like a wireless bluetooth communicator like that earring phone of Ran's. :V Or perhaps a watch that does the exact same thing as the badge~ Who knows?

I think they would design hi-tech wireless transmission earpiece for communication if not badges. Phones are too bulky and easily detectable. :3 Maybe a cute communication hairband for ayumi~ a watch for mitsu and headband for genta, and Conan and his specs~ :V But the badge is symbolic. So I believe it will still be a badge.
